Second Encounter

"Palms up," Danial says while opening the aid kit.

Wang Hua whom brain not yet functioning well dazedly stares at him. When she did not do as he says, Danial grabs her hand from her laps. He inspects the wound on her palm. He pulls out a wet tissue to clean her wound.

Wang Hua jolted awake by the cool sensation. She looks at her palm. There's a large scratch wound on it. After the wound cleaned, Danial swipes the alcohol wipe on her scratch.

"Ouch.." Wang Hua trying to pull back her hand but failed.

"Is it painful?" Danial asked.

Then, he bend down to blow on her wound. Wang Hua freeze when she feels his warm breath on her palm. She feels blood rushing into her face. She turns her head sideway to hide her flushed face.

"I'll apply the ointment on the wound. Please bear with the pain."

Wang Hua just nodded. She watched as Danial focus on applying the ointment. Then he picks a white short bandage to cover her palm. He did the same to her other palm.

"Is there any more places that hurts?" Danial asked while inspecting her body.

Wang Hua shyly said, "It's the knees and I think I just sprained my left ankle."

Danial quickly moves her body backwards. He anxiously inspects her left ankle. Her ankle had swollen into the size of a man's fist. He cleans the area surrounding the ankle carefully.

"I'll press your ankle at some points. Do tell me where does it hurt most."

Wang Hua nodded while clenching her teeth, waiting for the pain to occur.

"Does it hurts?"

"Yes."

"This?"

"Not really, just a bit."

"This point?"

"Ouch..ouch..ouch.."

Danial retracts his hand and inspects more.

"It's not broken but I need to align the bone back. It might hurt a lot but please bear with it for a while."

Danial looks up and panicked when he sees her eyes become watery with unshed tears. She clenches her teeth in order to endure the pain.

"Be a good girl. Don't cry, please. I'll buy you some chocolate later on."

He try to coax her as gently as possible.

Wang Hua nodded slowly.

Danial lifts up her left leg.

"I'll count until three."

Wang Hua nodded again.

"One, two-"

"Præk"

Wang Hua's body shook by the sudden pain. Then she felt the pain subsided a lot.

"You're lying."

Danial just smile tenderly at her and checks her ankle again. He press again at some points before nodded, satisfied. He picks another ointment.

"This ointment is the best" - he apply it on the swell - "to reduce the swell."

Then, he bandages it properly. Wang Hua takes the time to stare and scrutinise his face properly. He has thick and neat eyebrows, a pair of hooded eyes, a tall nose, high cheekbones and slightly plump lips. He has a thick light brown hair. Overall he looks gorgeous.

Danial try very hard to focus on her ankle. He felt he was naked with how Wang Hua staring at him. He seems nonchalant but the red tips of his ears betrays his real feeling.

"It's done. Now let me checks your knees."

He try to lifts up her trousers to check on her knees but Wang Hua stops him.

"Umm..that..that's okay. It's enough. I..I..can treat the wound, myself later on."

Danial looks at her but she averts her eyes elsewhere. He thought she was shy. So he didn't insist.

He packs the kit neatly. Then he pass both ointments to her.

"Take these. This one is for the wounds and this one for the swell. Apply it when you deem necessary."

Then he screws open the water and gives it to her. Wang Hua takes the water with both hands.

"Thank you."

She lifts the bottle with both hands and gulped. Some water trickle down her mouth. She try to wipes it with her sleeve, but Danial stops her. He picks the fresh towel that he brought before and gently wipes her mouth. Suddenly he stopped. He dazedly stares at her plump lips and unconsciously leans towards her.

Wang Hua freeze when his warm breath fans her face. She blushed and become flustered. The bottle fell from her hands, jolted them both.

Danial embarrassingly turns his body around and scratch his head. His ears become red. Wang Hua is not better. She awkwardly shuffles on the table.

Then, she remembered the equipments that scattered on the ground. She try to move and descend from the table. Danial turns around when he heard some noises.

"What're you doing?"

"That..that's..the equipments before. I need to store them properly."

Danial recalled back her situation before.

"Just waits here. I'll collect and store them for you. Don't move around until I come back. Do you hear me?"

Wang Hua nodded hesitantly.

"Be a good girl."

He pats her head before he disappeared in the direction they came from.

Twenty minutes later he appeared. He sighs in relief when he saw she still on the table, leaning on the wall. When he arrives in front of her, he realised she had fallen asleep. He picks a nearby chair and positioned it near the table. He decided to watch over her until she wakes up.

In the end, he fell asleep too.
