Plain of Midgard

"Let's get out of here before those Evil Spirits show up again," Cursur spoke after everyone took a moment to rest.

Before they got here, the number of Evil Spirits was so overwhelming that they had to make a few short stops to engage them in combat. But right now, there wasn't a single speck of an Evil Spirit around. They just vanished into thin air as if they were vapor.

Cursur was convinced that it was the young man's doing. Not only did he single-handedly pluck out the girl from the other dimension, but he also played a big part in sealing the damned creature. After taking a nice long look at him, Cursur could've sworn that the young man was just a normal kid. But after being informed that he has the Black Grsrzy Scarf, he knew that he may very well be an influential person from the Beginner Village, probably sent to the city of Revalia to do some business there. Little did he know was that the person in front of him was actually a Dreamer, or in every sense of the word, an Alien.

"Can you move?" Yuuta gently addressed Yua who was weakly leaning against a tree.

Unbeknownst to him, she hasn't eaten for three days. Her stomach was past the point of complaining so there were no growls emanating from it. Her face paled as her headache got worse. Now that adrenaline completely left her, she felt the strike of hunger affecting her system. She tried to whisper something but it was too soft that Yuuta had to lean his face closer to hers.

"W-water."

Thankfully, Yuuta was quick enough to act, approaching Lorraine to see if she's got any liquid with her. He quickly returned to Yua's aid with a water bottle in hand.

"Thanks," Yua whispered again. At least she doesn't have to worry about dehydration. For now, she should just suppress her hunger until they reach the city walls. She envisioned the look on her mother's face once she's safely back home and it left a smile on her face. Three days ago, she was ready to take the bullet for her mom and despite being rescued by nothing short of a miracle, she never regretted her decision. If it were to happen again, she knew she would still pick the choice of putting her life on the line for her mom.

'Mom was the one who took me out of that place, after all.' Yua said to herself as she closed her eyes, not realizing that she was already falling fast asleep.

"She finally fell asleep, huh." Ashuril helped put Yua on Yuuta's back since he was struggling to do it. After everything she's been through, she deserved to get a much-needed rest. That's why Yuuta didn't want to wake her up while attempting to put her on his back.

"Hey Ashuril, did you know?" Yuuta asked, testing out the waters to see if Ashuril is aware of something or not.

"Know what?"

"Nothing." Yuuta let out a sigh of relief. 'It looked like I might have found another trouble lying on my palms.' He said to himself.

"In any case, thank you so much for your help. Had it not been for you, we would've been stuck in a waiting game with that Aarkra." Lorraine joined in on the conversation. "Are you heading back to Revalia City with the girl? If so, you should come with us. We'll protect you until we reach the City Wall."

"Are you officially part of the Sacred Stones now?" Yuuta asked out of the blue, to which Ashuril and Lorraine shook their heads.

"We still need to make a report and submit it for validation. Once all the formalities are done, we can, they'll give the final verdict based on our performance."

"That sounds like a pain," Yuuta commented as he was reminded of the last finals exam he took back when he could still see. "I wish you two the best of luck. I know you'll pass."

"You don't have to be so condescending." Ashuril teased.

"Big brother, he was clearly cheering us on," Lorraine called him out. "In any case, we should head out now before nighttime comes. If we get stuck here after sunset, then we might get ourselves into unnecessary trouble."

With Cursur on the lead, occasionally glancing at the kid he deemed mysterious, the party headed back to the City of Revalia.

.....

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Plain of Midgard.

Once known as the Sahara Desert, the vast plain of land was finally successfully terraformed by a group of aspiring wildlife biologists from Japan. It only took less than five years for them to grow a sprout of an oak tree in Desert Soil. It was a moment of celebration that the Japanese could barely contain their happiness. It was a feat deemed impossible by many researchers but now, they've done the impossible, they've turned the desert into something that can be inhabited by wildlife and trees.

After yet another five years, the Sahara Desert was now officially called the Plain of Midgard because the grass is now growing everywhere aside from a few patches of land where slabs of stones were placed for tourists. On that place, a Torii Gate was constructed along with a Black and White Shrine. The wildlife biologists from Japan decided on this to show people just how sacred the land is. And it's also a grave reminder to the people that the Plain of Midgard could revert back to being the Sahara Desert if one doesn't take care of it.

Few years passed, and that Torii Gate and the Shrine of the Plain of Midgard became an iconic tourist attraction known only to the locals. Of course, they showed it on television a few times throughout the years but they were careful not to overpublicize it. After all, they didn't want a horde of tourists going there and messing up the ecosystem of the place.

That's why it came as a surprise when the locals found out that the Torii Gate and the Shrine were damaged. They can't recall anyone ever venturing inside the vicinity that night, and as for the watchman, he never detected any movements from there. Unfortunately for him, he was the only one nearby when the damage was done so all the suspicions were on him. But then again, he had been watching over the place for the past three or so years and this was the first time it happened. Of course, there may be some reasonable explanation for this but they were just taking the whole situation at face value.

The occurrence didn't even snag the headline of the newspaper the next morning. It was just shown on the last page of the newspaper, on a section that no one would look at unless they read the entire thing.

Had they insisted on putting it on the headline, it would've saved everyone else a lot more trouble later on.
