BACK TO BEIJING

Everything went quiet after Madam Yang left with Meng Bao. I was still grieving over Meng Bao's leave, but in the end, I realized that he needed to clear his problem with his mother first.

I didn't know how he would do it, though. I've been thinking about Meng Bao the whole time and whether he could solve things peacefully because Meng Bao wasn't exactly the most patient man on earth.

I sighed as I ate dinner with my parents and sisters. They kept staring at me for an obvious reason, but I didn't have the moon to talk about it, and they understood.

Thus, the situation became a bit awkward. I played with my food lazily, wondering if things could've been much better if I told Meng Bao to stay before.

"You did the right thing, Shi Ying," My dad said suddenly. "Parents' blessing is part of a sacred ritual for a long-lasting marriage. If he cannot get his parents' blessing, then we cannot do anything."
