Chapter 17 - System Upgrade
The rest of the fight concluded rather quickly. Even if Long Yang felt fatigued and didn't participate, after the death of their leader the bandits were easy to pluck one by one, so Chen Zhaohui and others cleaned the rest easily.
While they were hunting the rest, Long Yang chose to see what does the elder have on him. Since it could be counted as his loot, nobody eyed the body of the elder.
He searched the robe of the elder and only found a ring on his left hand.
The old Long Yang didn't know much but even he knew this ring was called a spatial ring. Which had an usually cubic space in it for restoring the things that are not alive. The low grade rings were both have small space and they would leak the Qi in various things. For example a meat of a beast or harvested herbs would lose their Qi. But the spatial rings were expensive, even if they are at low grade. Its price would start from a thousand spirit stones and even then you may not be able to buy. Because there was a bigger demand than supply. One would need to be a spatial enchanter to be able to craft it and those were rare even in Crafters Guild.
Thinking that far Long Yang felt lucky to even get a ring from a single trip. When he checked he contents of the ring what he saw was all kinds of herbs and over two thousand spirit stones.
'I have struck it rich. These should be the life savings of this old man. Really after gathering in the forest for five months I couldn't even earn two hundred but now in a couple of days I got this much.' thought Long Yang and sighed. After wearing the ring he waited for a few moments to fight to end.
After clearing the rest of the bandits, theinitial group of five from Yun Clan was lucky to stay alive and there was a smile on every single one of them.
"Thank you, sir. We gathered all the intel we could find and thought we were overestimating a bandit leader by thinking it's sixth layer cultivator. But even then it seems we have been underestimating him, who would have thought an elder from Sun Clan would get into this mess. And if you weren't able to kill him, it would stay a secret for who knows how long." said softly Chen Zhaohui with a thankful gaze.
"No worries, may I trouble you to fill a report about situation here and complation of the mission. Also what are you plans right now?" asked Long Yang.
"Of course, sir. We will also report to the young miss so we will return to Emei City for now. I will fill the papers on the way with the seal of our clan. Sir can travel in the carriage for the rest of the journey, if it's what you desire. There shouldn't be more surprises to disturb you." said Chen Zhaohui understanding the intention of Long Yang.
"We shall do it that way then." said Long Yang while nodding. After chatting about the aftermath of the fight a little more, Long Yang left to his carriage to check his Shop. The way back was a good time for practising some new martial arts. Having 130 points gave him a little bit choice to what to pick.
'Shop' he thought in his mind and a familiar screen opened before him. The shop had the usual long list of arts but at the top of the list there was a new choice written in gold letters.

- An upgrade that will improve the privileges of the host on the system.
Version 2.0 includes:
*Analyze Level 1: A function of the system which will make host be able to analyze inanimate objects.

'Both of them are great help to me. Since I am unfamiliar with the world, these should increase my adaptation.' thought Long Yang and directly bought the upgrade.
Unlike the times he bought martial arts from the shop, when he bought the upgrade a sharp pain originated from the middle of his forehead. The pain continued to radiate to the back of his head and continued for a complete minute. After the pain went away, cold sweats could be seen on the forehead of Long Yang.

From the first day, Long Yang asked all kinds of questions to the system but they fell to deaf ears. Finally thinking about getting some answers, he quickly started the most important questions for him.
'System, how and why did I come to this world?' said Long Yang in his mind.

Confused Long Yang checked the shop again and found a new choice named Version 3.0 with the cost of 100 points. When he looked at the info on it, he didn't see much about it. Analyze would be increased to level 2 and his authority be would increased.
Thinking that the gains from the Version 3.0 is not much for 100 points he decided to give up on it for a while. Increasing his stregth would make him being able to get more points on the long run so he decided to invest on some strong martial arts first.
After the first question he asked various questions, such as what is the system, what was its motive for giving him all these arts, why him... But he couldn't get an answer for any of it. Thus he got irritated a little bit and after grumbling a little bit he calmed down. 'Why would I get mad at the system which acts like an AI basically?' thought Long Yang sighing outloud. He found his impatience unlike his usual clear headed old himself but could also understand why would he irritated this much. Since arriving this world he always questioned these matters and couldn't understand what is happening at all. At one point he felt like he was being used too.
Thus Long Yang continued asking other questions and finally got an answer to one.
'Do other people have the system too?'

'So there were others before?'

'What happened to them? Did they die? If so how did they die?'
-Positive. The previous masters died for various reasons. Some gathered hate from people by going for a killing spree for points. Some got targeted by the enemies of the previous owners.-
'So who are those enemies?'

"You have said that far already, shouldn't you go all the way..." muttered Long Yang.
