CH302: ASO ROCK PRESIDENTIAL VILLA

Concerns grew within the then government on the issue of overpopulation and the increasing lack of land for further development in the then capital city of Lagos. The government was given a recommendation to move the nation's capital elsewhere. It decided to move the capital city to the geographic centre of the nation to achieve a centralised government.

Thus, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was born.

Coincidentally, the centre of the FCT happened to be the Aso rock. The 400 metres monolith is a big attraction that can be seen from almost any where in the city. Much of the city was built to the south of this magnificent natural structure, most notably the central business district.
