Hide and Seek VI- Logic

The suffocating heat has wakened up Eric from his uncomfortable position. He's sitting on one of the waiting benches of the hospital when he falls asleep that leaves his shoulder to ache. It's justifiable anyway, considering he sits on that hard chair for long agonizing 12 hours.

Right at that moment, a nurse comes out of the room, followed by the doctor. Eric stood up immediately after he saw the bulky man in his late thirties that performed the surgery.

"How's him?" With a scratchy voice, he asked. The doctor's small smile is enough for him to know that James is out of danger.

"He's fine now, we will just have to wait for 24 hours to see if there are no other symptoms that will occur or reoccurring before we can transfer him to a more comfortable room. Also, you need to call the nurse to check on him after he has woken up." Hearing the change of tone on the doctor's voice his forehead wrinkled.

"Why? Is there still a problem?" He asked, the doctor stared at him, sympathizing.

"The patient's hippocampus is impaired that's why we need a further inspection, MRI or CT scan to check how damaged it is once he woke up. There is a greater chance to have anterograde amnesia seeing the damage on his brain but there's still a possibility of memory loss before the accident and the likes. I will recommend the patient to consult Dr. Fiscal for evaluation and if needed, for him to take a cognitive test to check his memory." After the long explanation, the Doctor bid him goodbye. Eric thanked the doctor weakly and sat on the chair.

After a long silence, he stands up, planning to see James in the room but his phone rings.

Seeing the unknown number who's calling made him clenched his fists and tightened his grip on the phone.

"Fuck you," He said to the man on the other line that just chuckled back. His insides tremble from anger and he wants to smash his fist on the very face of the man.

"Why, thanks but no thanks. I don't swing that way." Still chucking the man said to him. Eric heaved a deep breath to calm himself.

"What are you calling for?" He asked impatiently, he didn't want to hear any bullshit that will come out from the man's mouth.

"I just want to check on the both of you," Eric holds the phone tighter as he bites his tongue just to not say anything he will regret later. He still needs the man's help.

"We're okay," He said sarcastically and the man laughed, amused at his rebellious voice.

How shitty this man is, calling just to provoke him? Eric thought.

"Well, say hello to James for me, will you?" Eric can picture the irritating grin that's plastered on the man's face while saying it. "And tell him no need to worry about Aurelia, she is doing fine as well." Laughing, the man cut the call and Eric left speechless at the man's guts.

He's really twisted.

"Someone's in the good mood," Aurelia greet Simon when he stepped into the kitchen and he just grinned. Sitting on the dining table his stomach quietly grumbled because of the salivating smell of breakfast.

"You don't put poison in this, have you?" He joked, though there's truly an underlying implication in his words. Aurelia snorted.

"God, no. Why would I do that if I will also eat this?" She said and sit across Simon which in return stared at her.

After their talk last night, Aurelia greeted him Good Morning when he woke up and then prepared this breakfast which resulted in a good mood for him.

Now, he's wondering why is she all acting like this?

"Don't stare at me like that," She complained, seemingly uncomfortable being stared at. Simon casually cast his eyes down his food and start to eat. Everything is fine as long as Aurelia is here, he thought.

She can never run away from me anyway.

Even if she kills me.

With that, he eats with more vigor and finishes his food earlier. Aurelia is still eating when he just occasionally sips in his coffee. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed Aurelia looking at him then back to her food.

"What is it?" He asked and Aurelia dropped his spoon in surprise. He almost laughed in her shocked face but decided it's probably not a good idea to do that at the moment.

"Uh, I," still finding her words, she picked up the spoon and turned her back on him to wash it on the sink. Simon heard her breathed deep.

"What are you planning to do with me really?" She finally asked. Her small voice told him she's watching out for the words that she speaks. Simon grinned, amused at the question.

Well, what is he planning to do with her anyway?

"I do not know," He said in a sing-song voice, teasing. Aurelia looked back at him with determination. He thought she will say something to degrade or dissed him again but she said the opposite.

"You know, I'm thinking if I should just help you." She stated with such struggle that Simon saw how her grip on the sink had tightened when she does so.

"You don't have to do it if you don't want to," He said with a harsh tone than he intended to. He can't understand why she is saying all this.

"I just," Now, fiddling with her fingers she looked away, "Will I be locked in this house forever?" She asked, biting her lips and Simon walked towards her.

"No," He answered and Aurelia looked up at him, shock. He smirks and with his strong arms, he hooked her small waist to close their distance. "There's no such thing as forever, baby girl." He said and looked down at those pinkish lips that seem inviting.

Looking up again to look at Aurelia's eyes, he watched her expressions. She gulped and her body is rigid in his hold that made his smirk wider.

He loves this new kind of torture.

Even if that pink lips have been calling him to taste them he stepped back. He didn't know why he did but as he watched Aurelia's stiff body in uneasiness, the temptation to do something sexual depleted.

He's somewhat annoyed but still logical.

He's surprised himself. Never did he is logical.

"I kill people Aurelia," He said in a serious voice and looked outside the window from the kitchen. As he watched the yellow dried leaves fall, he feels that distinct emotion he's burying to forget.

How nice it would be if one does not feel that awful feeling.

Alas, humans feel.

And so he does.

"I know, you do not enjoy doing such a thing." He joked, rather weak. Aurelia opened her mouth but didn't say anything afterward. As he saw the last dried leave fall on the tree he's watching, he smiled.

"Just be patient," He said even if he knows that he will never let her out or let her go in general.

He will never change his mind.

Never.

As the sun sets, I decided to go upstairs to sleep early, there's nothing much to do anyway. After cleaning the house I noticed that it is secured with fingerprint lock doors. This is much bigger than the last house we first stayed in but with much tighter security. I also saw dogs outside the garden.

Though I can't go out obviously because the front and back doors are locked. Of course also the windows.

Now I know why Simon, did not put chains or any restrictions on me because he's confident in the house locking system.

As I'm climbing up the stairs I hear noises in the other room beside Simon's room and because there are only me and Simon living in this house I already knew it was him.

What's he doing in there anyway?

I jumped on my spot when I hear a crash, something like a glass object clashing with one another. As I near the door to check what's happening in where the sounds are coming from, I stopped walking.

Why am I here? Curiosity kills the cat!

Obviously, I'm not a cat so I will not be killed but anyway, I should learn how to mind my own business.

Just as I decided to turn and walk away my leg stopped in midair as I heard a sound that there's no way I'm hearing here.

What was that?

Did I just hear...a sniffle?
