Simon stared at the sleeping girl at his side, he couldn't quite understand her. For instance, he was a serial killer that kidnapped people to torture them and sell their organs and body parts.
Not that it's bad because he did it for justice.
The world is better off with fewer sinners, isn't it?
But this girl is here, in his side, sleeping peacefully. Did not she scared that I might just grab her neck and strangle her to death? He thought.
He's convincing himself that it's just because she doesn't have much of a choice but he really feels something is off.
Why else would she be so calm, hugging him, confessing, cuddling, and sleeping beside him?
And she was not shaken by the fact that she just killed a man before, now that he remembered.
Sure, he thought that they were alike. That they have the same mindset and that she also likes blood in her hands.
But he comes across the truth about her identity.
He found out that she didn't really kill the man that causes her imprisonment for years. What bad luck, she's actually innocent.
Ah, his bad. He kidnapped an innocent.
He snickered at the thought and wondered why the voices in his head are quiet. Then his eyes wandered down to the beautiful face of Aurelia's.
By any chance, is it because of her?
Well, he noticed that the voices are quiet or not on a rampage as they used to when Aurelia is around lately. His mind is actually peaceful with her by his side.
What magic had she does?
---
The warm and bright sunlight from the window stirred me up from sleep. I rubbed my eyes after seconds of spacing out. Sitting up, I saw myself on the clear window's reflection.
I didn't quite recognize the girl in there.
Slowly prompting myself up, I walked to the bathroom and just sit in there, spacing out again.
My mind is blank.
Then I heard the door being swing opened quite harshly, I'm afraid the door frame might break from the impact.
"What the hell are you doing here for hours?" Simon shouted in front of my face and I arched an eyebrow. He's overreacting, what hours? I just came here minutes ago.
"Ah, damn. Just take a shower already, the food is cold." He messes his hair and walked out still mumbling, "What were you doing in a bathroom for three goddamn hours anyway? And you didn't even take a shower, Jesus Christ." I stared at his back in confusion as he goes out of the room.
Three hours he said. What three hours?
---
Simon stared at the girl that's descending the stairs quite slowly. He's still wondering what she's doing in the bathroom that she takes three hours in there without even taking a bath. Did she fell asleep in there?
Maybe.
He heard Aurelia when she wakes up and goes into the bathroom just right after he started to go down the stairs and it's just quarter to seven in the morning back then. Now it's already noon and she didn't still have breakfast.
"Sit here," He said and pull a chair for her, she didn't answer nor nod. She's extremely quiet today. He wondered why is that.
Is it because she's already sick to be in here?
The thought made his heart dropped to his stomach. He unintentionally clenched his fist on the wooden chair where Aurelia is sitting and she looked up at him.
"What? Do you want breakfast or lunch?" He asked when their gazes met and she arched an eyebrow yet again.
"It's still breakfast," She stated, her face gives away her confusion. That Simon then return. He's confused as well.
"Did you fell asleep in the bathroom?" Sitting in the chair beside Aurelia, he scoops the fried rice for her. Aurelia looked at what he's doing then looked at his face.
"What? No, of course not," She answers quickly and stopped his hands from another scoop of the fried rice. "It's fine now, I don't really eat a heavy meal for breakfast " Simon nodded and then looked at her with his hands cupping his chin.
"Then you just spaced out on the bathroom the whole three hours?" He asked, watching her eat.
"Three hours?" She looked at him confused while the spoon is in her mouth. Simon cleans the side of her mouth with his thumb and Aurelia swatted his hand.
"Do not touch me," She said harshly. They are both shocked at that.
Then Simon abruptly stands up.
"I see, you still despised me, aren't you?" He asked at her with venom. Aurelia is shocked for a moment but her facial expression turned sour then changes into an irritated one.
"Ha, do you think I'll ever change my mind about you?" She suddenly slammed her palm on the table. "You? The psychotic, twisted, crazy doctor who kidnapped me? Really?" Taking a step forward, Aurelia gritted her teeth, boiling with anger. "Are you an idiot? Did you think that all of that happened between us is true? Well, guess what, I'm sick of this house, of this prison, of this situation and I am sick of you!" Without a break, she said it like it was scripted. This is the first time she speaks her mind and burst like that to Simon and to say that it's shocking to see is an understatement.
Well, he had a hunched that it's really what she thinks of him. She's right anyways.
No need to say it on his face though.
"Of course," He said while nodding, pulling his hair, he laughed. "Of course I know," But what he didn't know is why there's a sudden change in his voice that it's sounded so weak. What's happening to him?
He's gone soft.
'I told you.' The rough voice said and it echoed on his head, mocking him. He waited for the kind voice to say something, to justify Aurelia, to defend Aurelia but there's nothing.
He heard nothing good about Aurelia.
"I'll just..." he gulped, he didn't like what he's feeling right now. "I remember I have somewhere to go," He said and stride to the stairs to change and then leave. Aurelia just looked at his back all the while. She still looked angry.
After Simon had left, she sits back on her chair.
And eat.
Like nothing happened.
---
"Do you still want a position in this organization Simon?" The middle-aged man asked him. Simon stared at the man blankly and the man just sighed.
"After a week, you finally graced us with your presence. May I know why is that?" The man asked him again. Simon just silently sits down on the chair in front of the man's table.
"Karl," He called, "Do you ever feel like you're an idiot?" He questioned and the man named Karl arched an eyebrow.
"No," He scoffed, shaking his head, "because I'm a genius, why would I feel like I'm an idiot?" Karl seems to ask himself than ask Simon. Now that he's watching it from another perspective, he does look like an idiot but he just didn't know it.
Poor guy.
But who is he to speak? He didn't also notice that he's an idiot for believing lies like that.
Alas, he's also a poor guy it seems.
"Anyway, why do you suddenly stopped to work. After that liver and the small intestine guy you didn't get yourself another patient," Karl pointed out and Simon rubbed his hands on the jeans that he's wearing.
"I'm still researching," He answered and Karl didn't look like he believed it, "I am, really, it's just that, the kidney girl I have operated for a new heart is actually innocent and didn't really kill anyone," He explained, pertaining about Aurelia. Karl shakes his head and tapped his shoulder with a sympathetic gaze.
"Ah, must be hard to be a psychotic killer with morals eh?" He joked and Simon just looked at him blankly.
"If there's psychotic here, it's you," He retaliated and slapped Karl's hands away from his shoulders. Karl just smirked.
"How's that girl then?" Karl asked while massaging his hands that got slapped. Simon just looked outside of the window.
"She's in my house," He replied that earned a laugh from the older. Karl came closer to him, eager for details.
"What? Do you let her rot in water? Or hang her upside down to bleed out? Oh, you just bury her alive in your backyard, don't you?" Karl interrogated him, his face full of excitement but Simon's face turned opposite.
Just thinking of that all happening to Aurelia made his skin crawl. He didn't like the images that just popped up in his mind. He didn't like the idea in general.
But why?
"No, she's still pretty much alive," He admitted that made Karl's face turned down in disappointment. "But I'm not here to gossip with you about that," He said, quite impatient. "I want a copy of your patient's profiles," He then demanded, and Karl's eyebrows rose.
"Why? My patients all have psychological issues. Do you want to change department?" Simon shrugged at the question.
The organization has two departments in the medical division; one for doctors that want to explore psychologically ill patient and those doctor/surgeon who focuses on the physical health of the patient.
He's a surgeon but he thinks psychology is not bad either.
Especially now.
"Can I get them or not?" He asked and Karl sighed.
"Well, they are so many of them. What specific case do you want?" Simon turned his eyes into slits thinking,
"Those with DID," He then answered.
"Dissociative Identity Disorder?" Karl raised an eyebrow yet again, curious and partially shocked.
"I just want to know something," Simon said, his mind occupied.
He just needs to check if his hunch is true.
