Chapter 1: A Brief History

A brief background-

Nydalidia is a strong and powerful kingdom in the foothills of the Great Mountains of the north. The land is bountiful and the people are kind and humble. But it wasn't always this prosperous. Around 1500 years ago a group of men came from the south east of Nydalidia( which was then an unclaimed and uninhabitable wild territory), from the cluster of islands called Ámos and settled in the kingdom Lothuvia( south of Nydalidia) for a better life. As their numbers in Lothuvia started to grow the Lothuvians turned against them for taking away what was rightfully theirs. The Ámosee numbers increased to such an extent that they almost equalled that of the native Lothuvians. This created Civil unrest among the groups. The Amosee were basically labourers and workers and were mostly looked down upon. As time passed the Lothuvians only suppressed the Amosees even further. The fact that the king ,the crown-prince and the Nobles discriminated against them made matters worse. So the Amosees took up arms against their oppressors.

The rebellion was lead by a woman named Erinia. She was strong, bold and ambitious. But most importantly she was cunning and decisive. The rebellion turned gruesome when she shielded the banished Prince of Lothuvia, Prince Zherif who was charged with highest degree of treason - murdering the king. Zherif claimed that he had done no such thing and that it was a false accusation. This angered the new king who unleashed his wrath on the Amosees. However, Erinia was wise. She couldn't risk the death of her people for the sake of the one who she now loved. So she made a pact with the Lothuvians. A war with Lothuvians would only end in bloodshed and loss. So, she and her prince vowed to never step foot in Lothuvia in exchange for their lives. She agreed to leave Lothuvia and go north, never to return. Her followers stood by her side and they too decided to leave. The ones who remained were forced out.

But Erinia had made a strategic decision which was actually a blessing in disguise. The land north of Lothuvia, though unclaimed and wild was rich with it's fertile land with many rivers that flew from the great mountains. So she and her prince along with the rebels created their own kingdom of Nydalidia. Their capital was named after Erinia, Erarenia. As the years passed by Nydalidia grew stronger and stronger everyday. However, where there is power, there are people willing to pay the price to have it . With the growing power of Nydalidia and therefore Erinia, people began to question the authority of a woman over that of a man. To them, their true leader was Zherif, as he had royal by blood and was a man of strength and wisdom. Zherif, though physically strong was not very cunning and could be influenced by the nobles easily. But each time they spoke for him to be their king and ruler, Zherif shut them down by stating that their queen and his wife was their best hope as she was a true Ámosee and understood her subjects better.

Their hatred for Erinia and support for Zherif grew to such proportions that they attempted to assassinate her multiple times. With Erinia gone, Zherif would take over . A worried Zherif, one day rode into Mistos, the deep and dense forest north of nydalidia when he got the information about the assasins hiding there in order to finish them once and for all ,but sadly never returned. His supporters and the royal soldiers searched for him for months but never found him. A grief stricken Erinia wanted nothing but answers. So she anointed their only daughter, Zheria, as the queen and rode to the forests to find Zherif herself. After 13 days, Erinia was found dead in the forests, murdered by the very men who vowed to be her shield. The ones who thought that a rebel queen wasn't fit to rule, definitely didn't find Zheria, a 16 year old girl to be the best choice either. But she was her mother's daughter. Zheria shut down the rebellion and banished the rebels from Nydalidia.

Frustrated and humiliated by Zheria, a group of 21 nobles and their families left Nydalidia to go north of the forests of Mistos and into the rude terrains of the great mountains. They were the founders of the city of Leanarch around which sprung the kingdom of Astmath.

To this date Astmath and Nydalidia have fought many wars against each other. The forest of Mistos seperating them has becoming a trader's bazaar as many traders from the south and west come here to trade with both the kingdoms. This bazaar was built on a road connecting the 2 kingdoms. The inner, deeper parts of the forest still however remain untouched and a mystery. The bazaar had a tavern and many shops for travellers and traders.
