Chapter 2

Esper's eyes were closed but he could still feel everything around him within this complicated state. He knew he was hurting people, he knew their were people screaming and in pain, and he knew it was all his fault. His mind reacted out in complete rage like a wild beast, ruled only by subconscious urges.

He hung suspended between consciousness and unconsciousness. Unable to think but still able to feel everything. And everything was wrong, uncomfortable, unbearable, irritating. Far from normal.

His being instinctively thrashed about, trying to escape from the dark mass that entangled him. Every intense emotion, pure chaos, an anarchy of terror, panic, fury, despair, and agony. Surrounded him like a blanket, overwhelming the youth more and more as time pasted.

It was suffocating and tiring the more the urges surged.

He only wished for it all to end. For everything to just stop. For the pain to go away.

And it was just then at that very moment he felt something.

Something strong yet very gentle, in addition among the unceasing stuffy rage, it was incomparably clear.

Esper turned towards it, only being able to look at the golden silk line of energy. The sight was beautiful within the smothering darkness, the only thing shining with light. It seemed to call out towards him, light and quiet at first but soon it became loud and powerful as it got closer.

Closer and closer it moved towards him until it became so close he could reach out his hand and touch it, and he did. Causing the golden string to envelope his body in a bright warm light.

The moment it enveloped Esper, it was as if something exploded within him. The deafening emotions turned into silence. The shadows of darkness that pulled at him at every corner suddenly lost it's strength. When he now struggled for freedom the chains binding him crumbled immediately.

That beautiful flickering, golden light, grew brighter completely overpowering the darkness and dispersing it into nothingness. His body no longer felt any pain. He felt a floating feeling of softness. The chaos of anger slowly turned into order. And with it, Esper's mind regained its ability to comprehend the world around him.

The day was still bright, the sky was a light crystal, water blue.

As he looked up his gaze met a pair of grey eyes before tiredness took over and once again losing consciousness. His limps turned into jelly causing his body to fall forward on a soft but sturdy chest.

Asura deeply frowned, a snicker escaping his lips. Seeing Esper pass out and fall onto him. ¨Aera.¨ He called, handing the boy over before walking back towards the truck. ¨I gave him a little bit of my Aura but it won't last long. It's just enough to stabilised him for now. But once he wakes up reality will clash in and you know during the stage of awakening their abilities are completely controlled by emotions. So we need to quickly get him back before that happens.¨

Aera nodded carrying the other with ease while gazing around at the massive destruction and those heavily injured.

¨If we got here any later half of city Z would have been demolished.¨ Asura stated also glancing at the wrecked scene.

Resulting in Aera shuttering at the thought of the city being destroyed. ¨What a frightening power.¨ She mumbled to herself.

Both Generals swiftly grazed the crowded street of nurses, civilians and city workers before entering back into the T.T.A truck. Gently laying Espers body down on the medical bed, his deathly pale skin started to recover its healthy cream color. The youths grim expression soon calmed down and revealed a peaceful, sleeping expression. Aera studied the patient with an attentive gaze.

¨Hes a bit late in awakening. He looks really young, he shouldn't be older than a collage student between the ages of 19 to 21.¨ She pulled out a device and hovered it over Espers body ejecting a spider like web of green light, causing a scanning from head to toe. Her eyebrows lifted in surprise. ¨Experiencing berserk mode for the first time his internal organs and physical structure aren't damaged if anything they look brand new, healthier then the average awakened. A rare occurrence but since he entered Berserk mode within awakening he should be a beta level. I'm not entirely sure on such short timing but we'll soon know once hes tested in the facility.¨

Asura silently nodded, staring ahead as the vehicle sped down the street.

The drive to the Bureau didn´t take long as both stepped out the elevator and headed down a hall entering into a wide office. ¨Dr. Julian we've arrived.¨

A gentleman in his early thirties appeared from behind a curtain in a white lab coat. His appearance very disheveled and wild, with spiralling messy, chestnut hair, cloths rugged and a faded color as if he'd been wearing them for days. He smelled of a mixture of cigarettes and coffee. His face looked tired as a light shaved beard enveloped his jaw and chin. He stared at both Generals with a cup in his hand while pushing his pair of glasses up the bridge of his nose.

He was very handsome but carried a beastly aura "It's about time." Julian spoke taking a sip of coffee before setting his mug down. "Car traffic?"

"Something like that." Aera smiled. "We got here as soon as we could."

Seeing everything fine Asura felt there was no longer a need to stay here so he left quietly. Leaving the rest to Aera to report on the boy later.

General Aera saw this and didn't mine staying back to report the testing results, as her interest was highly peaked. She watched as the doctor moved the younger's body onto a metal table. He touched Esper's face and slowly moved his hand down towards the neck then to his risk and last his ankle. As he examined further he couldn't help frowning, a bit puzzled at what he found.

Aera noticed this. "What's wrong?"

"He has an I.D code on his ankle instead of his neck. It's somewhat shocking.¨

Aera also frowned at the news. This was indeed shocking and unheard of. It was going against protocol and committing a crime of fraud. Did the hospital make a mistake or was the miss coding done on purpose, and if so. Why? An action like that warranted a sentence to prison. It was breaking the law.

When each species are born, while as a baby they are each imprinted with an I.D code on their bodies to differ between the 3 species. If your born with the gamma gene you are an Elite and is given an I.D code on the neck. Born with an animal birth mark for WereBeast the I.D code is on the risk. When born Human the I.D code is located on the ankle. [I.D codes can not be forged.]

Julian continued. "It'll have to be corrected. He'll need to visit Major General Leo about this." He pulled out a small device to scan the I.D code. A second later a hologram projected out from the scanner showing a profile picture and small information.

"He's a University student age 21 just reaching the mark of adolescence, a late bloomer. Male, born august 5th. High grades a very smart student, keeps to himself. There's no information about him from the ages of 1 to 19. My guess is that his parents kept him off TTA´s radar. How'd they get away with hiding the boy for so long is beyond me." Julian chuckled. ¨We seem to have an abnormal on our hands.¨

Reaching over to a nearby table he grabbed a tiny pin needle pricking Esper's index finger. Carefully taking a small drop of blood then catching it with an tiny clear DNA cell plate. Once done he injected the plate into a machine not even a second later his computer projected with the results. He quickly sat in his computer chair and rolled over to his desk pressing the enter key, resulting in a page of information popping up. "His ability is telekinetic, an Omega level. It explains the Level A awakening." He turned towards Aera. "He's amongst the rare, only 7% of the complete population are Omega level."

¨I'll report it back to Major General Leo.¨

¨No need.¨ He waved. ¨Ill do it.¨

¨Okay, sure." She stared back and forth between Esper and Dr. Julian for awhile before continuing. ¨In the meanwhile what are you going to do?¨

Julian lightly laughed seeing Aera worried about him. ¨I would like to take a nap.¨ He confessed. ¨But that'll be impossible, now wouldn't it?¨

Aera nodded in agreement. Not only did Julian have to attend to the youth, his office and the whole 6 floor would soon be packed with injured civilians from the explosion created by the one who was now resting soundlessly within the room. Dr. Julian was a hard working man during his crazy experiments and when he helped patients. He got so invested in his work and so busy that he would forget to care for himself and neglect his body time and time again. No one knew this better than her and a hand full of people.

She leaned against the doorway, pressing her hands into her pockets. ¨How long has it been since you slept.¨

¨In hours or days.¨

¨Days.¨

¨Then I'd say I haven't slept in over two weeks.¨

Area sighed shaking her head in defeat but continued questioning like a mother hen worried for her child. ¨Last time you ate?¨

¨This mourning.¨

¨I'm talking about real food not food supplements.¨

¨But they work just as well and sufficient as any food.¨

A food supplement was a pill taken in place when one couldn't eat food. Once taken it would feel the stomach up with an nutritious clear liquid that lasted 6 hours to a full 24 hours depending on the quality. There were 4 pills, the pink lasted 6 hours, orange one lasted half a day, 12 hours. The red one lasted 18 hours and the purple that Doctor Julian took every now and then once he remembered to feed himself, lasted 24 hours.

An average low supplement pill that lasted 6 hours was half the price of 500,000 lens, imagine the amount of the other 3. Only those who were nobles could afford it. Or those with high titles that worked for the Government within the medical field like Julian had bottles worth filled with them just sitting on the side for use at any time, for free.

¨When was the last time you ate real food?¨

¨Does it really matter General Aera?¨ Julian questioned with a sly grin knowing fully well how much his well being ment to her. And for that Aera didnt respond standing quietly with an unreadable expression.

¨Mind if I smoke?¨ Julian sat back, crossing his slender legs and pulled out a cigarette from his coat pocket. He was in his own office, he could do whatever he wanted with out question, but knowing the familiar relationship he shared with the other he asked out of courtesy.

Aera slightly frowned seeing this conversation was leading into a dead end yet her worry didnt lower in the slightest, but there was nothing she could do. He was a grown man after all. Older then her. So all she could do was give advice and hope he took heed of it. ¨Please, do try, to take care of yourself better Dr. Especially at an hectic time like this.¨

Julian gave a smile while lighting the cigarette in his hand. ¨I'll try my best General.¨

Aera nodded taking one last glance at him before leaving.
