Sticky subject

(multiple pov)

Arriving at the Kai family's main home, Quai Victoria performed all the necessary greetings to the servants of rank before heading to the tea lounge.

"Be quiet, she had not too long fallen asleep."

Quai Victoria performed her greetings with a series of bows before stepping directly into the room and speaking softly.

"This servant greets the old madam Kai, may you live to see a thousand years."

The old madam made a gesture and spoke in a low but impatient tone.

"En, speak, did he send you?"

"Replying to the old madam, this servant was indeed sent by the young master." Old madam Kai sighed, she did not feel much, personally.

Her grandson paying a bit more attention to this little granddaughter would help put her plans in motion much more smoothly.

Even if her lineage might be a sticky subject, adopting her would be no issue and also having her occupy a courtyard that would make her position clear.

She had spent these few days discussing with the little one and found her mind is quite beautiful, her fondness for water and just the thought of the lake and two empty courtyards opposing each other rose in her mind giving her an idea.

Immediately she had the plans drawn and the reconstruction handled, a few hours ago, she had been informed that it had been completed.

Soon after she had informed the servants to pack up all necessary items, she will be returning with the young miss to the secondary home.

"Later today, we will be moving from the main Kai home to the secondary, I had three courtyards remodelled and combined, I believe they will be pleasing for little Ra."

Quai Victoria felt startled by this but the two older maids present, one her grandmother and the other her mother stood unmoving.

quickly calming herself, Quai Victoria stepped closer to view the life-like image.

The courtyard itself was one suited for the..."Old madam Kai..?"

"It is as you have thought. your grandmother was calm about this but your reaction is like your mother. The young master is the last remaining blood relative to the Kai family. Preparing the next matriarch is a task that must be done at the earliest time possible. Now that one has been found there is no need for us to continue being a lower-ranked family."

The old madam Kai paused turning her gaze to look at the tiny bundle sleeping among cold furs, her long hair flowed Greeley's she snuggled deep within the furs almost disappearing among the small mound.

"I am sure you are aware but the young master has risen several ranks, I as his grandmother has also risen a few ranks. As if to show gratitude, your parents have also benefitted. This alone proves that she is more than worthy of becoming the young madam. We who have befitted must strive to be worthy of her."

Quai Loriella nodded at the wise words of the old madam.

She had lived so long after so many of the Kai family had perished.

Now, as if blessed by the gods and celestials the little benefactress had suddenly appeared with the young master. With the innate talent as a seer ranked three at the time, she could see what would happen to a selected few and she had seen the death of her young master, just it had suddenly changed when he had met with the young benefactress.

With her power rising another rank, she had also seen bits and pieces of what this benefactress meant to the survival of the Kai family and its servants.

"The old madam speaks truths, you will serve her until you are no longer needed."

"En, this servant obeys,"

Quai Loriella smiled turning her gaze to look at the large courtyard that had been combined.

The main courtyard was situated on top of a lake, winding corridors with overhanging to protect from the wind, rain and water.

situated halfway between each winding corridor was a pavilion each with its own unique design. around the edges were the other attached buildings for storage, servants and guests.

Quai Loriella had found that the thoughts of the two-year-old benefactress are ahead of those her age solidifying once more the fact that the old madam had been wise in her decision.

"Well, that will be all today, you may leave ahead of the young miss and make sure everything is in order. It should take two days before we arrive, by then the servants and the surrounding areas should be tidied. They should become aware immediately that she is master within her courtyard."

Quai Victoria bowed, "This servant will adhere to the old madam's commands," after saying this she stood stepped back and immediately turned to leave.

All of this was a bit much, her own courtyard and one so large.

Destroying two others just to accommodate--Quai Victoria shook her head to dispel such rebellious thoughts.

now, the benefactress is a young moss of the Kai family, her focus must be now on those who would try stepping forward to upset the ancestor.

upsetting her might cause her death, she had no desire to die yet, so she thought of ways to please this ancestor in advance, it might be a strong possibility that she will become the next matriarch, the old madam has also said as much.

"What do you think of young Victoria?"

"As her mother, this servant thinks that she thinks too much,"

"Hmm, perhaps but that is how she had survived besides my grandson,"

Quai Loita nodded, the old matriarch is right, but thinking is not the duty of a servant, only for the master.

In the eyes of a servant, the master was their god and the reason for them to continue living.

she bent her head and said nothing else, her mind went blank and she only listened to the old madam speak and the soft breathing of the new young miss.

Just as her mother the head maid had previously mentioned this young benefactress will assist the Kai family and servants in the future, she would gladly protect her, for the sake of the old madam her master and that of the only bloodline from the first branch Kai family, young master Au Fuji.

"Loita, check and see if the servants are finished storing the items I had requested."

Bowing and taking a few steps back before turning and leaving the room Loita did as asked.
