Entering school 4

The woman turned away.

I faced the remaining two females, blinking up at them innocently.

On the left stood one madam with Asian features, but had dark brown hair and light eyes. Her form is slim, long not losing out to the madam who had just left their presence. Looking away from her I blinked up at the other who's black hair was secured in a high bun. Her green eyes were mostly hidden by the glasses, features were of Caucasian descent.

With races, among humans, some have argued that there is no biological difference. Yet there are differences and habits, whether it includes their facial features or skin tones.

Another strange thing that grandma Kai had also mentioned, that even though, among humans before, it had been used to recognise the difference among humans in the past because of the fact they had outwardly many unique characteristics.

At that time I thought about the Shark-kin.

We did have our outward differences in scale pigmentation; dark and pale blue, grey either to the black pigmented scales or close to white. Our sizes were also different, but most of that was due to age.

To besides, we are solitary creatures, unlike the herd type humanoid air breathers and the water dwellers, Orcas, whales and sea serpents. For me as an outsider, all air-breathers are simply classified in one group as meat bags minus my thighs. They will always have a special place for my survival.

It is also the reason I am here, among these air breathers struggling to be like them even though I am aware at this point I can only pretend to be by blinking innocently and being obedient… within reason.

Putting aside my wandering mind and eyes I interlaced my ten fingers loosely in front of me continuing to subtly watch the silent two.

The two stood side by side while my much smaller form stared up patiently waiting for what they would do next.

A small breeze blew, bringing a scent towards me. My eyes widened, while the sudden powerful urge that rose was quickly suppressed.

My gums itched.

An elusive image rose in my mind eyes; a long beautiful fantail. Humanoid upper bodies followed by the most attractive sound. When my jaws clamped around their middles and shake my head to rattle their brains and prevent them from clawing out my eyes as I split them in two to digest them. The memory seemed just like yesterday. My lips wanted to curve into a smile but instead, I fought that urge, but was overwhelmed by another.

My mouth water at the slight salty scent bleeding off of the two. This scent was wonderful and filled with a familiarity that seemed quite elusive. These two women before me. I wanted to devour, but held myself back.

There is still plenty of time.

"Follow me number, five hundred and forty-seven."

Madam Maya announced before turning away and walked ahead leading the way. Behind her I trailed her slowly, struggling not to give in to the urge to sink my teeth in her flesh for a bite.

Bowing my head, I licked my lips, controlling the urge. "Please enter. The madam within, will explain everything with you and lead you to the assigned room."

"Thank you, Madam Maya." She nodded, turning away. I watched my fish walking away feeling slightly sad. So much like a siren, they had become a wonderful delicacy. My gaze stayed on them until an unpleasant voice entered my ears.

"Student five hundred and forty-seven?"

Self-preservation kept me honest, which also included me keeping the turbulent emotions under control. Turning to look at the side I saw faced the woman who called my student number. Walking forward towards the door, I entered the room and waited for further instructions.

The room on the inside is quite an eye-catching sight to behold; Romanesque in looks with a large desk, primary seat. Directly in front is the table were four smaller, less impressive chairs.

"Welcome, my name from first to last is; Iliana Aqua. Take a seat so the information can be relayed in a timely manner." Obediently I took my seat in the middle chair, I crossed my ankles over each other and rested my hands; right over the left in my lap and waited.

The woman/madam, Illiana Aqua took her seat soon after and brought up her screen, making a few gestures before she spoke. "It says here you are, family, named Kai, is that right?"

"Yes, madam Aqua, that is correct."

Madam Aqua asked a few questions. While I sat there obediently answering the necessary questions in an orderly manner and listening to various explanations, I thought to myself in a lamenting manner, how complicated it is for air-breathers to be educated.

Living in a society like these air breathers, I feel as if it is filled with a lot of pressure.

The information was transferred to my wristband but, on a separate server. Reading only a few lines I felt that ah, just like I had thought. Very complicated.

The rules were two hundred and ninety-five in total. I blinked. It seems the school is extremely strict with its students.

After receiving all the necessary information, she then explained the rooms.

"... Students are first all housed for the first day in a small room. After, the new students will be tested. From the highest to the lowest ranked student, rooms will then be allocated..." I listened carefully. My room is a one-room area with a bathroom and toilet first, after will be a four-room area for the lowest ranked students. Four students ranked higher, it has not been clearly stated.

Madam Aqua spoke for more than an hour, passing various valuable items just before she stood tall. To show respect, I stood to my full height as well, watching her closely. "The school provides for students; a total of twenty-two uniforms every year. From the twenty-two; a total of five are reserved for each season. After this is the special uniforms set for graduations or official meetings. These uniforms are only for one year so please handle them with care."

"Thank you, madam, this young girl understands," I replied nodding.
