Chapter 69

"…"

"But uncle, can I ask you something?" asked the girl.

"Huh? Of course you can. Ask what you want." replied the lord. Then, after hearing his answer, she looked away and said "...Who is this?"

"That?…"

You thought well before saying anything, and when you went to say something, he said "...Do you still remember what I told you before?"

And confused by those words she whispered "Before?..."

After a few seconds of thinking, she turned around, and as she looked at her uncle she said "Oh, you mean what you made me promise?"

"Exactly!"

She looked at Noah for a moment, and when she turned around again she said "But uncle, that was just a joke..." The girl looked at Noah and continued "...Wasn't it?"

"What you think?"

And as she turned around quickly she said "But uncle…"

"Didn't you promise?"

"Yes but…"

"So…or won't you keep your word?"

"…It's not that, but…" she looked at Noah and continued, "Am I really going to have to marry him?"

"...And did he happen to agree to that?" she asked.

"IT'S…"

"So you're telling me I should marry him, but you haven't even informed him yet?"

"…I'll talk to him so you don't have to worry about it. But why don't you stay there until he wakes up? Maybe he'll fall in love with you at first sight."

"(Laughter) It looks like…" she said.

The old man turned slowly as he said "While you rest, I'm going to go find something to eat." and he walked towards the door. So, before he walked through the bedroom door, the girl looked at his back and said "Uncle, where are you at..."

"She's not here anymore…" said the gentleman, while interrupting her.

She looked up at the ceiling, and whispered "I see…" as a small tear ran down her face.

The old man stood in front of the door for a few seconds, and then he walked past it without looking back. As for the girl, after looking at the ceiling for a few minutes, she turned around, and while she was lying on her hands, she stared at Noah. But while she was doing that, her mind seemed to be somewhere else, somewhere far away.

*********

"Shit! …How long have I been in this place?"

As she paced to keep her body warm, Noah lost his temper, and just like at other times before this, he kicked the snake. But what scared him this time was that, unlike the previous times, where even after the kick she remained immobile, now for some reason the snake began to slowly move.

And when she started to do this, several holes began to appear where her body used to be protected, and with the appearance of these gaps, the temperature that was already low, now suffered a huge drop. But even with this huge drop in temperature in the room, unlike before, now it seemed that Noah wasn't feeling any of it. Or even that it wasn't bothering him.
