In these few months, Yixing felt even lonelier than before. He was living with two friends, but at the same time, he was alone. Chao, once he had Yitian with him, wasn't drinking anymore. They were only playing games together, leaving Yixing out.
It wasn't as if Chao didn't ask him to play with them. But Yixing saw what was going on between them even before they did. So, he felt like a third wheel when with Chao and Yitian.
There were some instances he came home, after a business dinner or something else his father wanted him to attend, and he found the two of them in an awkward situation.
Like wrapped in the same blanket watching movies and eating ramen, with their heads leaning on each other. Chao carried Yitian as a princess. But given that Yitian was very small now, Yixing didn't wonder that it was easier to carry him like that.
He only stopped in the middle of his walking with his mouth gaping open, laughing his ass off when seeing it.
"No, I don't want to know what's happening. Just continue," Yixing said and shook his head. Then continued walking to his own room, leaving embarrassed Chao there, and erupting in laughter once he closed the door.
He still wondered how none of them could see the chemistry they had together. The sparks that were showing every time they looked into each other's eyes.
It was just hilarious to Yixing who, himself, was into both, men and women. So no prejudice there on his side, and he thought that they looked extremely adorable together. And that they deserved their happiness.
Or, that time when he was forced to attend his father's party. His only reason for being invited was to flirt with daughters of other families. Charm them, so they would throw friendly words when a new partner would be discussed.
The worst time of the night was when he met Chao's brother. Jin Lei. They met many times at the flat and he knew why Yixing was there. And yet, Lei ge behaved as if he knew him, instead of the opposite.
Yixing's father was very thrilled when Lei greeted Yixing, who was vehemently shaking his head, saying they don't know each other. But Lei only smiled and reached out with his hand to his father and shook it.
"My name is Jin Lei, your son lives with my younger brother. I'm really glad they are friends. He is being a really big help to Chao," he said and grinned at Yixing, who groaned quietly.
"Oh, I'm very glad they are friends too. My Yixing is a really good boy. I'm so glad he is studying business so that he could work in my company..." Li Yechao answered and Lei squinted his eyes. He opened his mouth to speak up, but when he saw Yixing's scared face, he didn't ask. He just raised his brows at him and Yixing mouthed 'thank you'.
His father thought Yixing was studying only business. But to be honest. As a small act of rebellion last year, he enrolled in computer science too. That was why Lei was so confused.
Yixing had suffered the rest of the evening by his father's side. Not allowed to step away, even when he wanted to go to the restroom.
When he wanted to go, he needed a bodyguard by his side, only then he was allowed to leave. And why that? Because his father saw again how beneficial it was to have Yixing by his side. So he couldn't let him escape.
Later that night when Yixing came back to the apartment he saw Chao and Yixing sleeping, healing each other by simply being there.
He laughed, shook his head at Yitian sleeping on the cold ground. But being the good person he was, he smirked and walked away. Back in his room.
No, he actually went to Yitian's room, took his blanket, and covered him, so he wouldn't be so cold. He wasn't a heartless idiot. And he liked Yitian as much as he did Chao. They were his only friends.
The second reason, he enrolled in computer science, was because he loved those little machines. The hardware was something that fascinated him. How it worked, which was the best. And he was thrilled by the gaming computers that Chao bought.
It showed he had money, and he wasn't afraid to put them into putting together the best equipment.
From what Yixing knew, Chao's dream was to find a professional gaming team. Yixing had no interest in gaming, only the piece of computers.
But it was interesting to see how Chao changed when he met Yitian again. He stopped drinking and started pursuing his dream.
And that made Yixing a bit sad. Because he had no dream. He had nothing else than following his father.
Didn't he deserve his happiness too? Wasn't he good enough to find something he loved to say fuck to his family and just pursuit it?
Yixing hoped he would find that something, someone, sooner before he would go completely nuts. Before his depression will get him far enough.
So now, when he was sitting with Chao and Yitian, watching movies, and contemplating about his life choices. He became even more depressed, seeing the happiness of those two.
"You are not playing today?" he asked, sounding cheerful, as if he was interested in it, but he actually wasn't. He just wanted to be left alone with his movie and not to be shown affection right under his nose.
"What? Do you finally want to join us?" Chao asked and hit his thigh. Yixing winced because his thighs were sore from the leg day he had. Keeping this body in shape was hard enough with the university. No way he would destroy his work, by sitting in front of the computer instead of working out.
"No thanks," he said and chuckled at the disappointed face.
"I still don't know why you don't want to play… it's really fun. There are some interesting characters there. Maybe you would like them." Yitian smiled at him, a lot less shy than he was weeks before. Yixing was almost tempted now, but his phone announced he had a new message. From his father. He pulled the phone out and read it.
"I'm afraid I can't join you. Enjoy," he said and stood up from the couch he was sitting on. He walked into his room, but before he entered, he heard Yitian's valid question.
"It was his father again, right? Is Yixing okay? He isn't his father's dog to run to him when he calls." Yixing frowned because Yitian summed his situation pretty nicely. And he didn't like it one bit.
