New happy family

Yixing was enjoying the moments he didn't have to spend his time with his father. Holidays were something he didn't enjoy, but now, when his mission was to follow Chao everywhere, he was supposed to get into their home. But he didn't go.

"Come home. We have dinner in the evening. I need to tell you something important." Yixing nodded, forgetting his father couldn't see it.

"Yes. But I was supposed to follow Jin Chao…" he said, hoping to avoid dinner with father. But luck wasn't on his side anymore.

"You don't have to, being home is more important," Li Yechao said, surprising Yixing. That was the first time ever he heard words like this.

"Driver will pick you up. Bye." His father hung up the call before Yixing woke up from his daze to answer back. What happened? Was he gravely ill?

Honestly, if his father asked Yixing for a kidney, he definitely would stand above him in the hospital when he would be dying and smile at him, saying he should beg for his mercy.

Yixing walked to the big window, looking at the skyline of Hong Kong. It was a beautiful day, but it made Yixing frown. He had no idea what was going on inside his father's head.

Usually, he was able to read people, their reactions, their body language, and that way react appropriately, but his father was unreadable. His actions were so random that Yixing couldn't find any reason behind them.

He sighed and then headed out of the room. He met Chao and Yitian playing the game again. And it was nothing surprising to find them, side by side.

"Are you still at it?" he asked, walking up to them. He leaned on Chao's chair and watched the battle unfold. And even though he wasn't usually into gaming. He was pulled into it. Unable to tear away his eyes, he watched as four characters ran up to an enormous humanoid-looking pig with a huge mace, swinging around.

"Assassin, Stealth slash, your 2 o'clock," Chao said and out of nowhere a character appeared in front of Chao, slashed the pig with shadow, and then disappeared again.

"He is summoning minions. We need help," Yitian muttered, as he backed away from the boss, dragging the magician with him.

"Wait, stop, a magician has elemental spells, he can freeze them, we will have more time then," Chao said, and the said magician reacted as he heard his name.

Both characters, Yitian and the magician, suddenly sprung forward, while blasting their spells on the final boss. The assassin was disappearing and reappearing, always dealing damage to the boss. And Chao's character was dealing damage after damage, while skillfully evading the mace.

In a matter of seconds, the boss fell on his knees and the winning dialog popped up on both screens. Yixing had to hold down his urge to jump and cheer them because Chao was frowning at the time.

"I thought we would be twenty seconds faster." He put down the headset and nodded at Yitian, who kept talking to the other person.

"Where are you going?" Chao asked, and Yixing tore away his eyes from Yitian.

"Father called me home. He said he has some urgent matters to discuss," Yixing answered and made vague gestures in the air. Chao nodded and looked back at Yitian.

"So you won't go with us?" he asked when he looked back at Yixing, frowning. They actually both frowned because they heard Yitian's laugh.

"Nice. Yes, no problem, we already are friends. And you seem fun…" Yitian chuckled and made them even more speechless. Who was he talking to?

Yixing wanted to do one thing, protect Yitian from harm, so he quickly snatched away his headset, just to hear silence in them.

"He already left…" Yitian had his eyebrow raised and looked weirdly at Yixing and then at Chao.

"Why are you so overprotective of me? I can't have friends?" he asked, his look could be described only as a puppy wanting something from its owner.

Yixing threw him back the headset and raised his hands in a defeated gesture while backing away from their playing

area.

"Well, it's my time to go…" he said, and ran away from the apartment. He wasn't in a hurry to go home, but it was better than being part of this conversation.

When he was down in the lobby, he called the family driver that usually was assigned to him. Then waited a few minutes for him to get out of the garages he was parked in.

The way home was long, even more now, when the traffic was terrible. It took twice as long as usual. So he came home when it was already dark.

"You don't know how to be punctual?" His father's stern voice welcomed him just as he ran through the door. Of course, he would find a way to nag him even now.

"It's New year, the traffic was terrible. And I left as soon as you called me." Yixing took down his coat and gave it to the maid that was already waiting for him, together with his father.

"What are you wearing?" Yixing halted his steps and looked down at his clothes, unsure if he didn't forget to wear pants.

But no, he had his pants on, and he was even wearing red. Well, it was a burgundy shirt, but still. He looked at his father, frowning, unable to hold back anymore.

"And what am I supposed to wear? Red changshan?" he asked in disbelief. Yixing was out of the house for too long, so the docility disappeared for a bit.

It resulted in his father gaining the same color on his face as Yixing's shirt. And stretching out his arms, as if he wanted to strike Yixing. But he never did.

"Yechao, love. It's New year's eve. Please, don't argue." An elegant older woman came in and hung herself around Yixing's father's hand, smiling at Yixing, who was dumbstruck.

"Yixing, this is my fiancée. Yang Changer. Your mom." Li Yechao said and Yixing's mouth fell open.

"What?" he said, unable to comprehend what his father just said.

"Your new mother..." he repeated.
