It was bright, very bright, I opened my eyes and notice a familiar ceiling, I felt a familiar feeling on my back. I was in a hospital, the same one my mother was in, I wanted to go see my mother, but when I tried to get up, a nurse in a white uniform and blond hair stopped me from moving. She was trying to tell me something but all I could hear was mumbling from her, I was confused so I told her that I wanted to see my mother, but only mumbling came out of my mouth. I tried speaking louder but it was the same sound, at first I thought that I lost my voice but when I saw an outline hand mark on my leg I remembered what happened.

I was hesitant to check if my ears were missing, I slowly reached for the side of my head and both of them were there. I was confused I tried asking the nurse what was going on, why did I still have my ears intact. But since only mumbling came out of my mouth, it just made me more confused. She tried to tell me something but I told her that I couldn't hear her, or I think I did. A doctor with an officer walked in, I noticed the officer, it was the same one I saw at the park. The officer waved at me, I waved back, he grabbed a piece of paper and wrote if I was doing well, I nodded.

The doctor grabbed a device, it looked like a remote, he pressed something and I started hearing noises again. He asked me if I could hear again, I said yes, I asked him how could I hear again after losing my ears. He told me that losing my ears wasn't the cause of my hearing loss, since it would only make sounds quieter, the reason why I couldn't hear was because I ruptured my ears.

I asked him again, how was I able to hear again and he told be that they had a cochlear transplant, or in simpler words, a hearing aid but more expensive. I told him that our family didn't have insurance and we don't make much money, my mother has to find multiple part time jobs just to pay for our rent. The man told me that I didn't need to worry about it, I was confused, I knew that cochlear transplants cost around tens of thousands of dollars so why didn't I need to be worried. He told me that my aunt already paid for my transplant. I looked at him, I didn't understand, my mom didn't have a sister, she was an only child, I told the doctor that my mom didn't have any siblings and he told me it wasn't a relative from my mom side, but from my dad's.
