Chapter 8: I've Got Dreams to Remember

“Raven.”

I hear a deep male voice saying my name.

“Raven, wake up.”

The sound of the voice makes me want to wake up, but I know when I do it won’t be pleasant. Something on the edge of my consciousness is telling me it’s better to stay asleep and unaware.

“Raven, please wake up.”

Now the voice sounds desperate, maybe even a little upset. But I feel so drained. Just a few more minutes…

“Raven.”

I hear a different voice now, this time a female. Older. I feel a sense of comfort in this voice. I know that it’s safe to wake up. I blink my eyes open and I see a face I recognize. My brain is so fuzzy I can’t quite remember her name. She smiles kindly at me. Why can’t I remember her name?

“Raven, come to me. I have much to tell you.”

“Ok,” I say agreeably.

“When you wake up, remember that you need to find me so we can talk. It’s important, Raven.”

“Ok,” I repeat. Then I close my eyes as the mysterious woman’s face fades away.
