Chapter 26: Unreasonable Demands

I run up to my room when I get to the house and shut the door behind me. I’m hoping Rick gets the message, because I really feel like being alone right now. The knock on the door tells me he did not. I dry my eyes the best I can and swing open the door.

“Raven, what happened?” he asks me in a concerned voice.

“Nothing, Rowena is just in shock from her attack. She’s not a big fan of werewolves right now, so I thought it would be best if we left,” I say stiffly. He comes up to me and tips my chin up to look into my eyes.

“I’m not buying it. What really happened?” he says quietly.

His kindness is my undoing. I let out a whimper and he pulls me into his arms, holding me tightly to his chest. I cry softly into his chest as I blubber out broken sentences.

“She doesn’t...want...to see...me. Because of...you,” I say.

“Well that’s just silly. She’ll come around. Like you said, she’s in shock. She just needs to process everything and heal,” he replies to the top of my head.
