Roxanne is a tough, no-nonsense construction site manager who is down on her luck. Eager to save her dad from a dangerous loan shark, she agrees to a deal with a wealthy, refined real estate investor, Tom.  In exchange for helping Roxanne keep her job and construction on track, she agrees to have a baby with Tom, who is eyeing a piece of property to develop that can only be sold to a family-friendly investor. While Roxanne does not consider herself maternal, her construction knowledge and rough-around-the-edges attitude charms Tom. Together, this improbable pair navigate some unexpected twists and have a baby, all while developing an unlikely romance.

After Roxanne hadn’t heard from Tom in a few days, she started to worry. He told her he’d have people look into the missing permit, and she should be patient. But with the loan shark whispering warnings to her father, she grew increasingly anxious. 


She had been looking into some materials invoices at work when she received a text from Tom.


“What are you wearing today?” he asked.


She couldn’t believe he was starting the conversation with that. They hadn’t been intimate at all and here he was asking about her clothing.


“I need you to accompany me to a formal dinner. You’ll need dress attire.”
