A deep and somewhat inhuman voice said slowly with a thick accent. This accent would be clearly foreign no matter which human you asked, as it was not from earth at all.
"{ Yes sir, but actually, in our culture, it would be Joshua of house Drummings, with only one first name. }"
"{ Interesting, and what is your personal opinion on this individual? }"
the young man stopped for a moment and thought back not only on the report of what his subordinates had written him, but also on the petitions the kid had made, his thought process and what he himself had seen him do, and soon an answer came to him.
"{ Well, sir, he meets most of the requirements, he is not patriotic, so he wouldn't misuse the X-007 on unimportant things like strengthening his country while leaving the others weak, he also has an extremely curious personality, however, he's a little too slow in taking advantages for himself, however we in the assessment and management department find that to be a plus in this particular mission. }"
"{ you've thought a lot about this, haven't you, Munir Sagan of house Samuo}?"
"{ yes sir! I have, sir! }"
"{ don't be so stiff, young man, I like the way you think, and you've done this old man proud... to think you were but a coffee boy at the prospecting department when I found you }"

the young alien called Munir Sagan all but screamed this, to which the old alien frowned a little and said to him.
"{ now, now, remember, do not talk that loudly about emotions in here, we the ancients must be calculative and cold headed 99.99% of the time, and any emotional outburst is to be a privilege, you may express yourself, but do not do it in a way so crass that my whole staff would hear it, young Sagan, it seems you have much to learn still }"
Ah... it appeared Munir Sagan had f*cked up, didn't he? of course, even the great Lynd Logia would get in trouble for acting too much on feelings, or for fostering that sort of behaviour on his subordinates... it seemed he had to be a little more careful next time.
"{ my apologies sir, it will not happen again }"
"{ so? how much energy have we scammed from the young man? do we have a good stockpile yet? }"
"{ we've taken trace amounts of Mana he has wasted in his crude attempts at experiments and extra energy that his body is not able to store, but so far we have only got about 7 points of MAN energy sir, and just as a reminder sir, he has started referring to it as Mana, measured in Mana points, or MP, also we've set the system so that any changes he does outside the system space will take about 50% of the energy he's wasted to put into our stockpile }"
"{ good, our sources tell us that humans tend to be quite greedy, even if it is for the well-being of the system he's helping us shape, I doubt he'd be so open-minded as to just, give us free energy to save in case of an emergency, sigh, truly, such a short-sighted species humans are. Were it not for that and our species would've perhaps taken them into one of our disciple species. }"
"{ truly, sir. I hear that even to this very moment, they still engage in about 76 big scale wars, 261 small skirmishes, and the last 12 of our local hours, there have been more than 20 million assassination attempts, though more than half of them will probably fail, and only a little more than half of those will be discovered. If I didn't know any better, I would say they're almost as bad as the Dramis, though at least they have complex social structures, human rights and a good system to pass on knowledge to their offspring. All in all, the humans could be a worse race to depend on, however they aren't too good at the moment. }"

OH! right, that's something I have to do... I have to make it so that not only humans can have the system, and i sort of made it based on myself, didn't I? let's change a few things, then!
Joshua went to his computer and opened a blank document to write the new changes he had to make, after all, he didn't want to forget about anything.

Alas, the system did not answer... what a scamming system, though perhaps it learned from me? I was the one who came up with the daily task which steals half of the energy produced by the body for 4 hours...
And talking about that, it'll be 8 soon, that means the daily task will start whether I want it to or not... though perhaps that's for the better, I wonder how many EPs I'll get after it.
So after dealing with Joraane's situation, removing the class option and giving her a species option, that didn't work, Joshua changed into something comfortable to go running and decided to start his daily task of... doing 100 sit-ups, push-ups and squats, followed by a 10-kilometer run... yes he used THAT particular workout routine, since it's the only one he knows, though he didn't really consider how merciless it sounds for someone with 7 points in stamina... who hasn't exercised his whole life.
Ouch.
The next morning, Joshua woke up early at around 6 am.
the night before he managed to make about 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups ,60 squats and ran about 2 kilometers before his time ran out. though he rested every once in a while, he managed to achieve a lot from the workout routine, however, his body, even with 4 hours of time, didn't manage to achieve the full workout, he was simply too much of a wimp to be able to, however he did notice that his stamina and strength now showed some improvement.

the reason Joshua had woken up at this hour was because he wished to start the mission early, now that he had noticed how exercise helped improve his basic stats, he'd go all in, however he still had to go to work today (even though he had just come out of the hospital... yeah his boss was a jerk)
So he got on with it. He went to a nearby park, however while he was walking towards it, he got a call by a co-worker.
"Alice? Hey"
"Are you out of the hospital and you didn't tell me? you hurt me, Joshua!"
Oh, yeah! She was the one who called the ambulance and all that jazz, didn't she? even though she gave them the name he went by at work which is just his name and his mother's surname which together would be "Joshua Boden", one of the many precautions he takes in order to not be treated like royalty, which would normally be alright, but he just avoids out of spite for his grandfather.
It was a long and frankly infuriating story, which he wouldn't think about at the moment.
"Oh! Yes... im sorry about that, it's just that I was exhausted yesterday and all that... uh... jazz"
Joshua trailed off a little awkwardly, but Alice, already used to Joshua's way of speaking, ignored it.
"Oh, is that so?! Then why the hell am I hearing from miss Adelgard that you went running the very same day you came out of the hospital, eh?"
Ah, yes, auntie Adelgard, the resident sharp tongued, quick-witted lady that lived on the first floor and LOVED to gossip. She had a nice heart, but truly, sometimes she could be extremely infuriating.
"Oh... maybe she saw wrongly? I swear I didn't go out running yesterday" he said crossing his fingers
"Sigh, I believe you, it's completely unlike you to exercise ever..."
Ouch, well that hurts, just because she knows me from high school, and the fact that I was always not that fit doesn't mean I'll always be like that!... it's just unlikely, or it was, since now i sort of have to save the world and all that, I have to at least be able to run 10 kilometers easily, even if it is to be able to run away when my life is in danger.
"So, Joshy-boy, tell me, are you going to work today?
"Yea, I'll be there... even though my head hurts a bit... any chance you could ask your aunt if I can take the day?"
"No, fat chance, you know how much auntie hates you. I could barely keep her from firing you yesterday because you actually were in the hospital, also, im sorry, as much as I tried I couldn't get her to pay your hospital bills, since you hurt yourself outside of Luigi's."
"Thank you, Alice... I really appreciate the thought" he said before quickly saying goodbye to her and going on his way.
Alice had always been the closest human he had. She was quite popular in high school and even though they didn't talk much, she seemed to have a soft spot for him.
She would stop the bullies from beating Joshua up after his father died. And even though Joshua never said it to her face and she pretended not to know, Joshua owed her a huge debt that he wouldn't be able to pay in this lifetime. Or he wouldn't have been able to before he got the system, not that he would become a battle-hardened god or something of the sort, but at least he now could repay her by making the best system that would be able to keep her alive!
Even if they weren't really friends, she was a special person he had to keep alive at all costs... and even if her aunt was a huge b*tch who despised him and made him work extra hard when Alice wasn't around to stop her.
Joshua kept exercising, however he didn't finish the daily task today either, only managing 6 kilometers before he ran out of time, but at least he improved a little bit more in his stats.
"Step by step!" Joshua thought while taking a hot shower to alleviate his aching muscles before going to that awful job of his.
