Chapter 33: Shattered Heart

“Kris loves me,” Remi said, sounding a little calmer now.

“I love him too,” she added, igniting my insides further.

“Not like you love me,” I said through my teeth.

“He and I—”

“Can’t even touch what you and I have,” I said loudly as I pushed through my front door because I needed air, then slammed it. “Nothing in your life or mine will ever come close to what you and I have and you know this.”

“What you and I had, Travis,” she said in a much calmer voice now, and it actually scared me. “I’ve moved on. So have you. It’s better this way.”

“I haven’t moved on,” I said with conviction because I knew she was full of shit and she hadn’t either. “I will never move on. Girls can come and go in my life, but I told you before, Remi. It’s always been you. It’ll always be you.”
