Chapter 20: How To Escape A Dungeon

My time in the dungeon wasn't only warm blankets and apples, however. There was no talking between cells allowed. I found that out the hard way. As the bread was passed out the morning after the "first apple," I thought I saw a familiar red beard across the aisle from me. "Breeard?" I called hopefully, my breath white in the air. The red beard appeared again but was blocked out by a scowling face in front of my door.

"Shut up! Quiet in there!"

My door was opened, and I received a quick slap. It was followed by a hard shove that sent me sprawling backward into the shadows again. There was an instant uproar from the other cells. Guards came running.

"Quiet down, or she'll get another!"

Slowly, the ruckus subsided, and with a pointed look in my direction, the guard put a thick glove back on his bare hand.

"Come with me."

I walked to the door and was escorted to the same table, with the same blue hooded guard as before.

"I have to ask you some questions...."
