Chapter 39: Going to Market

On my way back to my quarters, I heard activity outside. Remembering Talon's comment about forces, I took a moment to look out a window. Fae of all sizes and shapes were converging in sections on the front lawn, moving forward to meet Talon and Illisan as they approached. I couldn't help but notice the ease with which Talon took command of the situation and created order. This converging of Fae was something I wanted to show Poe and hear her insight and knowledge. I set off to find my handmaiden.

Poe sat by the fireplace in my chambers, sitting by a lively fire in a red, high - backed chair. She was distractedly looking at something in her hand. Poe's head snapped up and she stood quickly when I came in, but I waved her back down and sat in the chair across from her. Once again, her eyes fell to the object in her hands.

"What's bothering you?" I asked. Her orange eyes were dull and distant.

Poe wistfully shrugged, "It's nothing my Lady, it is just a weak moment."
