“I think you’d better get some rest,” I said to Xander after we finished eating. “I’m going to check on Elias and then try and get some sleep tonight, too. I have training in the morning and don’t want to miss it.”
Xander shrugged. “Yeah, I’m pretty tired, too. Mind if I sleep here tonight?” He smirked. “I promise to behave myself.”
“Yes, of course. I don’t mind at all.” I motioned with my head toward the bedroom. “Come on.” I took his hand and led him into the bedroom, pulled the blankets back, and covered him over once he was in bed. “I’ll be back in a bit.”
“Don’t be long.”
I walked around the bed to Elias and checked to make sure he didn’t have a fever. But when I started to walk away, he caught my hand. “Don’t leave.”
“Yeah, that’s what I said,” Xander chimed in, turning over.
“How are you feeling, Elias?” I asked, sitting on the edge of the bed.
He nodded. “I’m fine. My head’s still hurting, but not nearly as bad as it was.”
