You Should Go

For a moment, it was once again quiet to the point that it was almost awkward.

After being together for so long, this kind of situation has never happened before. It was as if the two of them who were once intimate lovers became roommates or a pair of friends who were about to fall out.

Li Ruyan brushed back a few strands of her hair that had fallen across her face. And Min Yue who saw this was slightly entranced by her beauty which was illuminated by the natural lighting of the room.

She looked ethereal.

His heart palpitated as Li Ruyan looked up at him with a hint of tenderness, a pair of shining, peach-shaped eyes staring right through his soul.

Those eyes looked like clear water but they were able to contain a lot of deep emotions.

He couldn't help but immerse himself into her gaze, sinking completely.

But the mood he was experiencing was suddenly cut off when Li Ruyan finally decided to speak.

"You should go." She told him without bothering to explain.

"And leave the key on the table."

She added before turning around to sit down.

This time, she stayed on a news channel where the news of CEO Yang's extravagant birthday party was being reported.

In that news, she also saw Min Yue and Yang Shiwei together, holding hands. Her fingers twitched as she itched to grab the remote but she simply sat there without moving, choosing to torture her own heart.

For a moment, Min Yue who was left standing in silence did not say anything. His eyes continued to follow Li Ruyan who did not once glance back at him.

"And leave the key on the table," were words that echoed in his ears, making him clench his fists out of frustration.

Min Yue's lip hooked up into a bitter smile.

They were slowly slipping apart.

Ever since the night at the restaurant during his birthday and their four-year anniversary, the interaction between them became rigid with tension. And he found himself slowly losing sense of his actions.

His mind was clouded with revenge but in the process, he was slowly losing the most important person in his life.

It was devastating.

He walked towards the door, his shoulders stiff as a board.

When Li Ruyan heard the sound of her door opening and closing, only then did she finally relaxed and let out a sigh of relief.

A tear fell down from her eye but she quickly wiped it away.

...

After finally being alone in her apartment, Li Ruyan who was watching the news channel was able to discover something else.

CEO Yang's birthday party was also Yang Shiwei and Min Yue's engagement party. That was why it was such an extravagant party.

At first, Li Ruyan could not tell but as her mind drifted to yesterday night, she noticed that Min Yue and Yang Shiwei's clothes were matching.

Li Ruyan thought back to her own clothes that were given by Min Yue and she wondered what happened to it since Min Yue was the one who changed her into this pair of pajamas.

If she found it in her belongings, she would ship it to charity as to not be wasteful. She contemplated throwing it away but she frowned. Atleast if she donated the clothes and jewelry, someone else would benefit from it.

Min Yue would not accept it back. He would get angry or throw it away.

While thinking about this, Li Ruyan listened to the news channel and to the news reporter who was describing the highlights of the party last night in great detail. This news was able to retell just how powerful and wealthy the Yang family was because there were many other influential figures that appeared at the venue.

Since there were reporters, she expected to see her face or atleast a trace of it and be labeled a scandalous person due to her confrontation last night but to her great surprise, she was never mentioned.

Was this her being extremely fortunate?

Li Ruyan did not think so.

She could only think of one person who would suppress any news about her.

Li Ruyan fiddled with the apple in her hand. She twisted it around her palms, bounced it, and simply played with it but not once did she took a bite out of it.

Then the apple fell on the carpeted floor.

"..."

It was because, in the news, Yang Shiwei was hugging Min Yue.

Li Ruyan's hand hovered over the remote, hesitating whether to switch channels. Her indecision allowed ample time for the news to progress.

It was then a video of Min Yue and Yang Shiwei exchanging rings were displayed.

The hand that was hovering over the remote slammed down without hesitation. It might have cracked a little but still, the channel did not switch.

Did her hand miss?

Li Ruyan pursed her lips in displeasure. While she was torturing herself by watching this scene, the sound of her door opening and closing was heard once more.

She finally glanced away from the screen and saw Min Yue's figure. He was wearing a different set of clothes from last time.

Did he take a shower? His hair looks a little wet. Her eyes also noticed the extra item on his hand.

He approached her rather calmly as if she did not just kick him out earlier.

"I bought you a cake." He explained directly without reason.

"Why?" She asked.

Min Yue was not turned down by her words. "Don't you like to eat cake after a hangover? So I bought one from a cake shop."

Li Ruyan turned her eyes back to the screen.

The news was over.

That made her want to throw the remote at the screen but instead, she stood up from her seat.

"I'll get a cake knife."

She went to the kitchen.
