To-school Morning In Another World (2)

"See you!"

""See you later""

"Bye bye."

For some reason, Nine's way of saying goodbye was more childish than Jennifer-chan's. Not cute--

Anyways, Miss Margrett was accompanying Jennifer to school, or as this world calls it, the education guild. Prune tagged along with them since she said she wanted to see where the guild was. The area she's charted also gets noted on the system map so that's another plus.

I got Prune some warmer clothing per Liliath's recommendation so she switched to those clothes before going out, she sneezed one more time on the way before finally disappearing from sight. Luckily I got her a handkerchief too.

The education guild. To be honest, it was something I did not expect to exist.

From Miss Margrett's explanation, there are many education guilds around the kingdom, the one Jennifer-chan is studying at is called 'The Twelve Stars'. An education guild focuses on teaching the students to read, write and count. Learning how to use magic is an obligatory part of the curriculum, unlike sword arts which is optional. I found that weird, but also a little worrying.

Magic is an obligation because basically everyone can use magic. In the past, before this so-called chantless magic postulate was developed, dubbed Kagura's Chantless method, people used the chant system.

Further added upon by Liliath-- let's have a short history class shall we?-- The chant method wasn't all that good. Because the chant system made it so that only 5 percent of people could use magic, and only a handful of them were able to master it. Mages were considered powerful beings, and were a status of power.

In the 13th cycle, a heroine by the name Professor Kagura-sama, after killing the demon lord, sought to bring magic to everyone. Her argument was that she was a cheat, and the only reason why heroes were able to use magic was because of the gods.

She wanted to figure out the roots of magic. She ended up developing an entire system for magic casting.

Turns out, the main reason why chanting works is because it puts people in a certain 'mental state'. It is this mental state that formulates the magic. Her theory was that as the hero, the blessing from God would convert her imagination into 'mental states' suited to cast the desirable magic.

With this as the groundwork, she made copious notes of every sensation and developed a magic system, which is known today as Kagura's Chantless Method. What the hell.. they brought a researcher into this world?

The Kagura's Chantless Method was.. to put it in my words, like an entirely different language. Like in coding-- where coding language like Python, HTML and Java are used to makes sense of the string of zeros and ones, or in music-- where music scores are used to make sense of pitch and rhythm; Kagura's Chantless Method makes sense of 'feelings' and 'state'.

The visual representation of Python or Java in coding or the musical staff notation system of bean sprouts in music; Kagura's Chatless method is represented using a Pentagram chart. Using shapes such as a square, triangle and circle-- to name 3-- each representing a certain 'state'. Moreover, depending on where the shapes are placed, the 'feelings' are to change.

Like fuck. How in the hell would I know how a lonely square in the center of the Pentagram chart feels like?!!

Which ties in all back to why every child is obliged to learn magic, if possible. The earlier they start, the easier it is for them in the future.

To put it in another way, my current self is no different from an infant who doesn't know a single language. Having to string together a mess of words to even make sense of what 'go die!' means.

Worse.. when I checked the magic guide book-- that exact Pentagram system was there on the latter part of the introductory chapter in the beginners section. It wasn't only limited to squares, triangles and circles-- there were also other shapes like stars and ovals. Not only that, sometimes, there are multiple different shapes on the field. More so-- when I accidentally landed on the intermediate chapter, there was this 'inverse magic' concept where each shape could be further divided into other variations. A single square can be divided into border-only, a square with another smaller square inside of it, or a colour-filled square-- EACH ONE REPRESENTING A DIFFERENT THING??!!!

WHAT THE FUCK!? HOW THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO LEARN MAGIC?!

Now then, leaving that hell aside, if you look outside, the sky opened up to a beautiful vibrant orange and purple. The cobblestone ground was covered in light snow. Other stores lining the streets were also getting ready for business. An old lady from the neighbouring side waved at us. From the sign, her place looks like a small-scale wood craft store.

The guy selling stew yesterday had just arrived with his cart. He locked the wheels of the cart and started to set up his stall.

And the description of a perfect morning can't be finished without wildlife right?

Octopus.

No. Flying octopuses.

And behind the mother octopus followed 5 smaller octopuses. Like little ducklings following mother duck.

In rhythmic sync, they propelled themselves forwards with their tentacles. It drifted through the street as if nobody's business before disappearing into an alleyway filled with crates.

""...""

"It's been a while since I've seen those," so said Liliath.

Give me sometime to let this information sink into my mind. This isn't reality, yup, this is fantasy, yup. I don't even know why it's so hard to believe the reality in front of me.

While waiting for Prune and Miss Margrett to return, we realized that we had just received a new mail. Looks like Unknown finished creating the widgets I've requested. The Unique Skill sharing widget? He said we were dumb.

Nine and I had to ponder about why he said for a few beats before it hit us.. Nine could copy n' paste his Unique Skill to the rest of us.

When we tested it out.. heck. I can edit my own stats now. Absolutely crazy. Doesn't that mean if we paste Prune's [Home Sweet Home] Unique Skill into our column, we'd get to use our own apartment domain? We'll have to experiment with that when Prune returns.

Asides that, the Autoconcelament widget, Statusconcealment widget, revival widget, teleportation widget, camera widget, MapSelectionFilter widget and Shareview widget got approved. A side note for Statusconcelament widget-- Nine's [Status Concealment (EX)] has become useless now.

Autoconcealment widget was pretty similar to Statusconcealment widget so we opted to just use the latter. It basically gives you this side screen that you can freely edit your fake stats. It's as good if not more secure than [Status Concealment (EX)], to the point where even the God and Goddess wouldn't recognize us. Nice--

Teleportation widget allows us to teleport anywhere but the charge for each person was 100 points, the distance doesn't matter. Looks convenient. MapSelectionFilter widget is really an extension to my map. I can search up a specific thing or type of person and tag it. Of course, it's limited to where we've been to. Something like.. tag all all with levels above 50-- wow, there are quite a number of them.

As for revival widget.. let's just say each revive would cost 10000 points. I wanted to say stingy but considering how it actually brings a person from the dead.. it was rather cheap. It was the price of 5 kilograms of orichalum if I'm not wrong.

Camera widget.. nothing too special about it but Nine kept it on [REC]. The info page stated that it had unlimited storage, and from what Nine said, also included a professional video editing tool. Looks like it got his streamer blood boiling, I think he'll treat Unknown like a God now.

The Shareview widget actually works as it stated. I could see from my display what Liliath was seeing if she allowed it. So when [God's Eye] was used, we could actually see what she was seeing. Prune was squeezing quite bad.. I kinda pity her.

The view then shifted to Princess Siesta-sama, who was at some plaza. She was in an elegant but easy-to-move-in light white dress. Like a delicate lily, her confident gait as she proceeded to the carriage with a very suave looking knight. Though.. I was thinking she should be wearing those female priest clothes shouldn't she? She has the saint title right?

Then the screen blacked out. A single block of word spelled: [ERROR].

"It seems to be impossible after all.."

"Who are you trying to look at?" I wanted to say 'stalk' but seeing her sad smile, I refrained.

"I thought perhaps it could work with those in your world. I tried thinking about Wendy and Saria."

"Ah.. too bad. Hey, how about Bleu?" Nine asked.

Liliath did the job and on the screen displayed a Bleu sleeping on the bed.

'You can stalk her all you want, just don't do that to me please. I'll keep this a secret from her,' such a sound echoed. Huh? Was that Unknown?

With all due respect, we didn't try him.

Our fill of fun had to be interrupted by a passing knight. He asked us about our origin since.. he had never seen us before. Explaining how we were new tenants for Miss Margrett's florist shop-house, the knight nodded as if understanding, but told us to keep within his sights until Miss Margrett returned.

Looks like he was just concerned for security. His stats were pretty high.. but lower than Miss Margrett's overall stats. His cliche [Strength Reinforcement (B)] and [Mana Imbuement] skill looked convenient, so Nine Ctrl C'ed and Ctrl V'ed it into a shared note document. We can access this skill whenever we need it in the future.

Funny thing is that.. some stats don't have a grade to them. So it's unknown what would happen if we added '(S)' to [Mana Imbuement]

Damn. There's a lot of potential in our Unique Skills. We're barely scratching the surface of what we could do with these.
