Your Lucky Day in Hell: Eels

"Rayna absolutely loved you. I want to thank you for always being such an incredible friend to my daughter. I just know she's looking down at you fondly Gisele."

Mrs. Sutherland gave a kind smile, a hand on Gisele's shoulder. She blinked before revealing her teary eyes, apologising as she wiped them away.

"Oh lord. I thought I had them under control. I can't seem to stop crying at all."

"No, you don't need to apologise Mrs. Sutherland. I can't believe she's gone. I see all the people here dressed in black, the coffin and the condolences...and yet, I'm still waiting to see her walk through the door."

Gisele grabbed the grieving mother's hand.

"You can always count on me whenever you need to talk to someone. I'm no Rayna but I've always thought of you to be my second mother."

Across the room, Bennett and Logan were enthused in conversation.

"Look. All I'm saying is that if Mrs. Ramirez asked me spend the night, I would. What's so bad about that?"

Bennett cast his friend a tired glance.

"There's a time and place for your whore conventions Logan. Respect for the dead, yeah?"

"Heroically said Benny. But ironic, no?" Logan smirked as Bennett grew uncomfortable.

He looked over at where Gisele and Mrs. Sutherland stood.

"Speaking of, the missus is a hell of a good actress, Rayna's mum is eating it up. Maybe she fakes her orgasms too huh, really makes you think."

Logan's grin quickly dropped when he saw Bennett's foul expression.

"Fucking hell, cheer up Ben. Everything's fine. We're here today because Rayna was tragically killed in a hit and run. Unfortunately, there are no leads, no suspects. Niente."

It was said really more as a demand than a factual statement.

"I need to speak with Gisele." Bennett left his friend as he headed across the room.

In Bloom: Nirvana

Spring break had ended as quickly as it had arrived.

It wasn't long before Gisele Hamilton found herself back through the hallways she would never miss. A lot had occurred over the break.

It felt weird to resume school and her life as if nothing had happened. At least, in the knowledge of the Baytown occupants, nothing did happen. Well. Besides a funeral of a high school student.

As she gazed her reflection in the bathroom mirror, she wondered if she had changed. Physically. Would others be able to tell?

Of course, there was the matter of the others. After all, Gisele wasn't the only accomplice. She made up only a quarter of all involved.

She spotted Bennett walking into the hall, his buddy Logan by his side.

She hadn't spoken to her boyfriend since the funeral. He'd cut his hair, no longer donning the mop of hair Gisele had affectionally penned as 'the dog'. Her eyes trailed down his tanned arms, reminded of how he had so cowardly flown the coop with Logan and his buddies to Miami.

He hadn't called once.

"So I heard Jeremy got some chick pregnant."

Florence was looking at Gisele with expectant eyes. Awaiting a valid reply.

This piece of information was of no surprise to anyone. Jeremy's hit list put any coked out rock star to shame.

"Only one?"

"Guess we'll never know. Has the boy never heard of condoms? Hello?"

Soon after the two walked over to English, their friend Bianca joined them. It was only after they had taken their seats in Mr. Irvine's class that Bianca addressed the elephant in the room.

"Reckon Irvine will mention something?"

"Um, yes? As if he would ignore it. She was his favourite student, it's gotta be hard on him."

"Bet that's not the only thing that's hard."

"Bianca! You're wack."

"Right. Then tell me honestly, you really think they spent their lunchtimes in here talking about Orwell?"

"That's the most Rayna thing I've ever heard. So, yes."

Mr. Irvine as predicted, did mention Rayna. He had asked for a minute's silence, then proceeded to intertwine the tragic death to Don Quixote as only a true English teacher could.

While deep in discussion, Bianca turned over to Florence and Gisele.

"Here's what I think. He killed her. She fell in love, he panicked and needed to get rid of her asap."

"Are you serious?"

"Why not? You know how Rayna was. Always so pathetically a sucker for good traditional romance. Chivalry is dead or whatever it was."

"Or wanting things that aren't hers."

Gisele's outburst caused her two friends to fall silent.

"Woah, that came out of nowhere."

"Did she and Bennett ever..."

"I mean, her type always was the ones she couldn't have. Major daddy issues." Gisele maintained her composure, eyeing Mr Irvine.

"Fucked up mentality if you ask me."

Bianca eyed their teacher, watching as he leant against Tanya's desk, nodding along she spoke.

"Reckon he's packing?"
