CHAPTER FOUR
DEVAN’S POV
F*ck it! I had her already! Why did I let her go?! I had the chance to talk to her! Damn this temper! “Devan?” Rejina snapped and sat in my lap. “Baby, what's wrong?” She asked. I shook my head and kiss her shoulders. “Nothing. I was just... Preoccupied by loads of works in the company.” I reasoned out.
“Awe, don't be. I am here, Devan. Focus on me now.” She said and started kissing me like a hungry wolf. I returned the favor to her and there we found ourselves again kissing, hugging, and moaning each other’s names while going with each other’s rhythm.
AERA’S POV
“Are you sure you are okay?” This is the hundredth time Xana has asked me today. “Chill, I'm fine. I was just worried that he'll see and know that we had a child together,” I explained. I never want Devan to be part of my life again or even in my child's life. I don't want her to know that she has a dad that isn't even happy to be married to her mother. So, no. It would be better for us without you, Devan.
“Okay, just making sure. I don't want you to disappear again!” She said and clung onto my shoulders.
“By the way, we got a new client! They are looking for a wedding gown. And I think this would be a great start for you! You'll get this project!”
“Yay! Thank you, Xana.”
“Send the designs to my office tomorrow, okay? I will let the client go through all your wedding gowns.” I nodded at her and started working on my designs.
I am now on my fourth design when I heard a knock at the door. “Come on in,” I said. I thought it was Xana but it's not her. It is Klaud.
“Hey, you need something or anything I can help you with?” I asked. I panicked a bit. I didn't know what to do because I don't want to sound rude.
“Oh no! I- was just here to ask you for lunch?” he said and brushed his hair using his hands. He turned red while trying not to look awkwardly.
“Of course! I would love to!” I immediately agreed. He then gave me a cup of coffee to help me get through the morning. Klaud said that he will pick me up from my office at exactly 11 am.
I continue my work and decided to finish with 7 different wedding gowns. I might add up 3 more later this evening.
While I was browsing on my phone, an unknown number suddenly pop up with its message.
“I’m outside your office, pretty.”
Assuming it's Klaud because he was the only one I am meeting today. Wow! Time flies so fast I didn't know it was 11 am already.
I got ready, took my things, and walked out of my office. I found Klaud standing in front of my office, patiently waiting for me. How sweet!
“There you are!” Klaud smiled at me gently hugged me. He's the sweetest, I'll give him that.
We went to the nearest restaurant to our building. Klaud pulled a chair for me and started to order our lunch.
“Aera, I uhm wanted to say something,” Klaud said. “Yeah? What is it?” I asked.
“Are you single?” He asked hesitantly.
“Well, I-I was married... And uh it didn't work out and uhm we're separated. So uh I think I am?” Klaud chuckle.
“I see. Weren't you gonna get a divorce or what?” He asked.
“Well uh, we're not on good terms now but yeah we'll surely get a divorce.”
“I see then. So can I court you?” He asked straightly.
“Yeah. If you can wait till I get divorced and... I got a child if that's okay to you.” I said. Dating now is not easy because I have a child and I must know if the man I am dating will accept my child or not.
“Oh! I love kids!” I smiled. Great. Then it would be worth it to give him a chance.
“Then, sure. You can court me, Klaud.”
We then discuss things about works. Our lives, basically getting to know each other. Klaud owns a lot of businesses but he still chooses to work even though his businesses make him fortunes. He's a freaking genius!
While eating, I heard someone call my name.
“Aera?” I turn my head to see who it is and it shocked me to see who it is.
“It’s me, Fraile!” Right, my husband’s sister. Out of all the people, why do I always meet your clan, Devan?!
“Fraile! How are you doing?” Even though Devan and I didn't end up good his family is still good to me.
“Good! How are you?” She asked. I am wishing she's not gonna ruin my lunch date and not gonna ask about his brother.
“Great! What are you doing here?” I asked her.
“Just getting my lunch. I am assuming you are getting your lunch here too with your colleague.” She said and glanced at Klaud. She then bid her goodbye after her colleagues called her. Phew. Thank God she did not ruin it!
When Klaud and I were about to leave the restaurant, someone grabbed me, and I accidentally shouted.
“Let’s talk.” I looked up to the one who grabbed me. It was Devan, AGAIN.
“What for? Didn't you choose already?! You choose to abandon me.” I whisper trying not to cause a scene.
“What do you mean?! It was you, you left me Aera!” He answered. He's right but he's the one who abandoned me first!
When I was about to answer another hand grabbed me from Devan. It was Klaud. “Dude, let go of the girl,” Klaud said coldly to Devan.
“Dude. Mind your own business.” Devan replied.
“This is my business. You are disturbing our DATE.” Klaud emphasizes the word date. Devan immediately let go of my hand. My wrists turned red. That bastard held onto me too strong!
“Are you okay?” Klaud checked on me. I nodded and assured him. We came back to our office after.
“Aera! Been looking for you everywhere!” Xana approached me. She's panicking. “Why? What's wrong?” I asked worriedly. “Our client came! We don't have designs yet!” she said as if she would cry already.
“Oh, don't worry! I did 7 designs before I went out. Where's the client?” I asked. Xana was relieved. She thanked me multiple times. “At my office,” she answered. I go to my office and get my designs and immediately went to Xana’s office.
“Good afternoon. Ma’am, Sir.” I greeted our clients. I looked at Xana and her face is worried again. What's could go wrong now?
The clients then faced me. I was shocked to see who it was. I felt like someone pinches my heart. It aches. I don't know why. I'm over it already why is my heart acting like this?
“Wow! What a coincidence!” Rejina broke the silence. I have to be professional. “Good morning, Miss Rejina, or should I say soon to be Mrs. Pierce?” my voice cracked. Damn it!
“Rejina would be fine! It's not like we're strangers to each other.” she laughed. I gritted my teeth. I am pissed. Looks like they did this on purpose. Knowing Devan he has a lot of connection. “Okay then, Shall we start? Ma'am, S-Sir?” I asked. They nodded and we all sat down. I can feel Devan’s glance at me. What the hell? He's with his fiancee yet he's looking at me?!
“Great designs, Aera! Now you made it harder for me to choose!” She pouted. Ugh, now I'm regretting my decision to work here.
“So, how long till the wedding? We gotta prepare the materials you know those stuff.” Xana explained.
“It’ll be happening in 10 months.” Devan answered.
“I see. So uhm when can we get your decision, Miss Rejina?” I asked.
“What do you think would look the best on me, baby?” Rejina asked Devan.
“The third design would look the best on you,” Devan answered. Rage poisoned my veins. How could he?! He picked the dress that is almost identical to what I wore when we got married!
“We’ll take the third one then, Aera.” I nodded at her and closed my design book. I let out a sigh that only I could hear it.
“Okay then, see you in 9 months?” I said and offered my hands to Rejina. She took it and shook it with a wide grin on her face. My eyes widened with her sudden smile. I shrugged it off and decided to bid goodbye to go back to my office.
“He never changed. I can't believe he's getting married even though we're not settled with the divorce yet!” I said to myself furiously while stacking the scratch papers I used earlier.
“You should believe it.” I turn around while in shock.
“What are you doing here?!” I asked. He walked and sat on my sofa comfortably.
“I’m your client so how come I am not welcome here?” He said and directly look at my eyes.
“Well, it is your FIANCEE that is my client,” I said and throw my papers in the bin.
“Are you jealous?” I cough at his statement.
“Me? Why would I?” I laughed.
“‘Cause now you witnessed that I am happy without you.” He said and smirk while checking me out.
“Good for you,” I said coldly and stormed out. I'm trembling so much. I am so angry, I want to burst out and tell him what I've felt and experienced being married to him.
