An Accident

CHAPTER SIX

AERA’S POV

I woke up earlier than usual. Xana and I talked last night and she stated that I have a lot of clients coming today so it will be a hectic day. I will drop Elif off early with my Mom and go to work early to prepare the designs that I am going to present to the clients. I prepared Elif’s meal and get ready to work. Afterward, I dressed up and wake up Elif. “Good morning, baby! Time to wake up.” I said while opening the room’s curtains. “Mommy, isn't it too early?” she said while rubbing her eyes and yawning in between.

“I know, but Mommy has to go to work early so that she could earn a lot of money!” I said and stand her up. “But Uncle Klaud has a lot of money, maybe we can borrow from him?” I laugh at her silliness. “Silly! You can't borrow money that easy, my darling.” I said and kissed her cheeks. I carried her and make our way downstairs.

“Eat a lot okay? I’ll bring you your favorite cinnamon rolls later.” I said while pouring her a glass of milk. “Yay! Thank you, Mommy!” she said whilst clapping her hands. Later on, I bathe and dressed her up after she ate. She was excited to meet her grandparents again.

We then started to go on our way to Elif’s Mamaw and Papaw. They loved being called Mamaw and Papaw by Elif. After a while, we arrived at their house. I did not stay for long after I made sure that Elif is inside I bid my goodbye and drove off to work.

I parked my car near Xana’s car. I hurriedly took my things and walk inside. When I was near my office I realized that I needed a coffee since I am still sleepy. But I don't want to walk back to the cafeteria. Well, I'll put down my things first then I will go back to the cafeteria to get my coffee. I sat down at my desk and I spotted a coffee cup. Did I leave that there last Friday?

I grabbed it and there was a note attached to the cup.

“Have a great day. I'll see you around. <3”

It is definitely from Klaud. I smiled and drink the coffee. I wonder how he knew that I am going to work early. After a while, I decided to ready my designs and put them all in a folder according to their styles.

At 7 AM clients started to come by one by one. It is easy dealing with them because they're sure of what they wanted and I appreciate it so much because I will not get exhausted. Unfortunately, my last client was a pain in the ass. Or should I say my very first client? Rejina came by my office, of course with her ‘fianceé’ to update the changes she wants to put on her wedding gown.

If only I had a choice not to talk to neither of them, I would've done it a long time ago.

“Should I get this? Or This?” Rejina asked Devan while pouting like a dog. My God.

“Anything, baby,” Devan answered her. Anything would look cool to a pathetic girl. Ugh! Get a hold of yourself, Aera!

“So that changes would be-” My phone rang and it cuts off Rejina from speaking. I excused myself and answered my phone.

While I was listening to my Mother’s call. My body was shaking like crazy. I didn't know what to do. She does not want to tell me anything. It's driving me crazy because I had a bad feeling.

“MOMMY PLEASE! TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON?!” my shaking voice surfaced the whole room. I looked at Devan. He was looking at me... Worriedly. I looked away immediately.

I listened to what my Mom is saying after she calmed down. The words did not sink into me for a few seconds but after that, I feel like I died for a moment. I couldn't feel myself.

I lost grasp of my phone it fell to the ground making a loud banging noise. No... It isn't true... It isn't happening.

I lost my balance but luckily someone catcher me. I looked up and it was Devan. He looked so afraid and nervous at the same time.

“Aera... Area what happened?” He asked, continuously tapping my cheeks to bring me back to reality.

“My...” I didn't get to finish my words instead I hurriedly stand up and run as fast as I can to my car. While I was busy running I bumped into someone.

“Aera? What happened to you?” I heard Klaud asking me and checking if I was okay.

“My... My Elif...” I looked at him. He looks at me worriedly.

“What happened to Elif?” After he asked that I cried like a baby.

“She... She got into an accident.” I said in between my cries. I don't know what to do. I can't lose her. I can't lose my only treasure.

“C-Can you drive?” He asked me. I couldn't answer. I feel like my whole system shut down.

“AZI! AERA!” I heard Xana shouting my name but I couldn't even turn my head in her direction.

“What’s happening? What happened? What did Devan do?!” She's asking furiously when she got near me and Klaud.

“Elif got into an accident,” Klaud answered her.

“WHAT?! My baby girl! Come on we'll take you to her, Azi.” Xana said and help Klaud to make me walk. Elif... My baby... Hang in there... Mommy’s coming.

DEVAN’S POV

I never saw Aera like that. Never in our whole married life. She looks so devastated. After she runs out of her office I followed her but when she cried in that man’s arm... I couldn't move my feet to take one more step closer to her.

I heard her murmur a name. A name that is very familiar to me. Who is this Elif? Did she have a child when she disappear? F*ck! It is driving me insane!

AERA’S POV

“Mommy! W-Where is my daughter?” I ask nervously while scanning the whole emergency room for my daughter.

“They’re still checking up on her.” Mom said. Dad is comforting her. I am not interested in what happened. I am concerned with my child's life and I will never recover if something bad happens to her.

“I’m sorry, Aera. I-I thought I locked the gate...” Dad apologizes. I shook my head. “No. It doesn't matter, Daddy as long as she's fine.” I said and tried to peak at the operating room.

“Let’s calm down, Uncle and Auntie... Azi.” Xana said and sit me down next to my Mother.

“What exactly happened Uncle?” she asked my Dad.

“I was letting her play in the garden... I took a call... I got outside using the gate in the garden... While I was busy talking on the phone... She got out... And it happened... She was hit by a car. The car managed to stop but it still hit her... We saw blood... So we... We rush her here.” My Father explained what happened in between the situation. I was about to say something when Elif’s doctor got out of the room.

“The patient’s parents?” I immediately raised my hand and said, “I-I am her m-mother.”

DEVAN’S POV

“I-I am her m-mother.” I heard Aera says those words. I was watching them from afar. I was so worried and decided to follow her because I wanted to make sure she's okay. “And you must be the father?” the doctor asked the guy that was holding Aera’s hands. H-He was the Father? Did Aera cheated on me? For a second there, I felt like my soul left my body, and I died that moment.
