“Yura, my darling.”
The lady softly gasped but pretended not to see him. Her baby sensed the subtle change in her mood and started crying. She rocked him in her arms and glanced in the direction of the voice in an accusing way. It was her husband. He stood there with a smile that appeared to be genuine. For this time, she let her guard down. She smiled as well, and with that, her baby calmed down.
“Kazuki, you never let my ladies announce your presence,” she sighed, “But….I’m glad you’re alive. Come in.”
“I thought you’d be a monk by now,” he watched her sitting by the edge of her bed, cradling their little baby. He chuckled as he knelt in front of her. He leaned slightly on her lap and stared at his baby. Her eyes widened at this gesture; Kazuki would never kneel for her. The man denied being similar to other royal blood and high-ranked officials, but he was the same...until today. Her cheeks warmed; she felt flattered.
“I knew you wouldn’t die so easily.”
