Chapter Two - Wish me Luck

Today I want to know her name, her story, her everything. Damn, I sound like a teenager with training wheels on. I'm Travis Tenner, I'm grown damnmit. I'm good-looking, I'm fit. sigh, yeah you're also full of it. just go over there and talk to her, you can do this. I scold myself. you got this. slowly i approach her like a lion in the jungle getting ready to pounce on its prey. Slow and steady wins the race homeboy.

"Good Morning," I say. Seems to be as good a start as any. She looks up at me with a smile, the same one she gives me every morning, I can tell it's the smile she gives to random passers-by. I don't want to be random, I want to be 'somebody'.

"Hi"

"May I sit down?"

"Why?" she asked looking up at me. Those eyes, those sugar brown eyes I could get lost in those eyes.

"I've noticed you here for the past two weeks, normally I'm the only one out here this early."

"So?" she asks, interrupting.

"So, I just wanted to introduce myself since we're going to be running into each other more often. It's only polite".

"Oh okay," she replied, turning back to face the ocean.

We sat in silence for a while, although we only just met the silence wasn't uncomfortable at all it was kinda peaceful. She breaks the silence revealing.

"I see you watching me you know" she boldly states. Here I was thinking I was stealthy.

"Ok, well I don't want to watch you in the shadows anymore hence the introduction. Hi, names Travis"

"I'm Lisa, nice to finally meet you, Shadow" she teased and I chuckled with a sly smile.

"I moved here a couple of months ago, Are you local?"

"No I'm not, yes I'm from the island, I'm just here for a few weeks house sitting"

"Cool" She turns, scans my entire body, and I think I see a smirk.

"So, house sitting huh? How's that going?"

"What do you want?" she asks vehemently.

"Excuse me?"

"I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I come out here for the peace and quiet, and a chance to think, so how can I help you?"

"Well beautiful lady, you smiled at me the other day, and although it made my day, your eyes looked sad, it made me want to take away whatever made you sad and put the sparks back into them".She giggles, damn I do sound like a twat, 'put the sparks back' i sigh.

"Is that so? Does that usually work for you, Mr. Travis?"

"Nothing to work, it's true, your sorrow-filled eyes tell me you're hurting but what I would like to know is...."

"Well Sir that's none of your business, my pain is just that, my pain".

We sat in silence for a long while after that. Few merchants came along to their huts to open up ready for the day's visitors.

"Well thanks for the company Mr", she quickly got up and left before I could even get a word in.
