The King arrived shortly after the conversation between Kim Jung-Seo and Prince Suyang. His escort was made of eunuchs, servants and guards, consisting of twenty people in total. Everyone greeted His Majesty and afterwards the hunting event was officially declared open.

At least a dozen people went ahead of the hunters, making noises, shuffling the grass with sticks in order to lead the animals in a certain direction. That made it possible for the hunters to find them easier.

Along the base of the mountain, where the hunt was currently undergoing, they could choose from pheasants, rabbits, wild boars, and deer. As it was custom, the hunter who brought the biggest game, would be rewarded by the King with either gold or jewelry and silk.

Since everyone wanted to impress the King, the hunting was usually a very competitive event. Men would go all out and do everything they could to win the favor of their monarch.
