The sun shined brightly outside of the 'Pineville heights on 12th street' parking garage. Rock, Paper, Scissors, and "Antonio" as he was now calling himself exited the massive structure and proceeded to walk down the streets to the 10 story condominiums it was named after.
Logan's outfit was much more respectable than last night; he wore a shirt that fits, and pants which didn't expose a part of his buttocks. For some reason, though, he still insisted on wearing the same flip flops. They only had minimal staining after 2 hours of extensive washing.
"I can't believe parking is that expensive," he mused aloud.
This garnered a hearty laugh from Rock.
"Expensive? Ha! This is the cheapest bit of parking in the city."
"Why else would we chose this brat as a nemesis," Scissors added, clearly unhappy about being here.
Paper led the way, skipping in a sort of floaty fashion which made it seem like she'd get blown away by a strong gust any second. The other ladies paid her no mind, but Logan was silently praising her in his mind.
"She's obviously practiced. The walk looks fragile and defenseless, but I have the strong notion that no matter where I attacked her from, it would end with me getting pinned."
"Your sense of analysis has gotten stronger, disciple," the alien in his head mused.
"Of course, I'm finally getting to see real techniques after all. Who in prison or the asylum didn't fight like a starved animal?"
"We're here. Let us do the talking," Scissors said abruptly. Paper was already standing atop a welcome mat, pushing a button on the intercom next to the door repeatedly.
"WHAT?!?" an angry, muffled voice shouted from the speaker box.
"Hey gurl, how's it hanging," Paper asked in an inquisitive fashion.
"Go away, i'm busy."
"Busy committing credit card fraud, I'd imagine," Scissors retorted with a snort.
"Take that back! Such crime is below a villain of my stature! I'm not like some two-bit hero group with only one class C despite being in the business for half a decade."
A screech resounded across the area; one of Scissors' hands had left the hoodie pocket, and was now scratching against the condo's exterior.
"Quit it! I can't take another rent hike, you hag!"
"Let us in, Plague Doctor. I might just get bored and start carving names in the glass."
The speaker box went silent, but eventually relented.
BUZZ
"Fine, be quick about it..."
"Follow me," Scissors commanded to the group, her hand still out and in blade form. Rock followed behind her, with Paper bringing up the rear in a coordinated formation. Logan simply followed behind them with a smile, but his mind wandered as he did so.
"Why does that speech pattern sound so nostalgic?"
The four entered an elevator at the back of the lobby, where they waited in silence until reaching the 10th floor. The ladies didn't even wait for the doors to finish sliding open before rushing the hall, not stopping until they reached the 13th door on the left side.
"Open it," Scissors commanded. Paper covered Rock, who then reached out to try the knob.
"Locked."
"Why don't you all knock! I tell you again and again, but you never listen! Is my hospitality a mat for you to walk on? No way! Obstacle course time," a voice from behind the door suddenly said.
"Run," Scissors shouted, but it was too late. The floor in a 3 meter radius around the door collapsed, revealing a long metal chute whose bottom could not be seen. Paper grabbed the ledge, but under the weight of all three of them, she could not hold on. With a scream similar to teens on a roller coaster, they fell.
DING
The doors to the elevator finished opening, and Logan stepped out into the hallway. His smile seemed awkward, yet equally warm as a normal one.
"Should I follow them?"
"Beats waiting here all day," the grand master said while floating next to him. Logan sighed, then jumped. He performed a split in mid air, landing with a foot on either side of the chute. With the hard part done, Logan shimmied down at a leisurely place.
