Calvino waited outside Calista's room. He sat on the long chair. He leaned his head against the wall, his eyes closed, his hands clasped tightly against his chest.

Suddenly a voice startled him. "Why are you here, Vin? Who is accompanying your little sister?"

Bramantara's eyes narrowed. "Mom?"

A smile was etched on Bramantara's lips. "Your mom is being unfair, Vin. Your mom has arrived at the hospital but didn't tell me."

"Who's on the phone?" Bramantara asked.
