WEEKEND DATE

Lyrical scanned her wardrobe a numerous times since morning. It was already getting very late and she had nothing to wear for the weekend party, all her clothes were either formals or dresses which were meant to be worn in church or to have a family picnic.

Nothing that would fit the place she was going tonight, not that she knew exactly what they wore.

Lyrical was unable to keep her promise with Melody for the past two weeks, as her aunt wasn't keeping well.  They both didn't get much time to spend with each other. Ehem!! That means.. Lyrical went to the office and left as soon as she was done with her to-do list every day. Not like either of them were looking for to this day--te or anything.

Well!! Now that her aunt was feeling better, Lyrical wanted to keep her promise to Melody and also make sure she wore something that was an appropriate fit for the place Melody was taking her.

Suddenly she remembered, Norman had gifted her a dress, which was still kept untouched. It was a metallic grey, knee-length, V-cut dress with a broad black belt, she paired it up with boots, a simple bracelet, and stud earrings.

Lyrical waited for the call from her boss, as she had promised to come to Lyrical's house to pick her up and they would be going to that party in her car. Lyrical tried calling Melody once, but it went unanswered.  Assuming that Melody must be driving, she chose not to call again and distract her.

Lyrical had already informed Aunt Marissa she would be home late today and may have to stay back at her 'friend's' place. Lyrical was evidently uncomfortable to announce that it was her boss, with whom she was going out party with. And she definitely did not want to disclose the location where the supposed party was taking place.

When Melody arrived, Lyrical was a little upset because she was an hour late at the decided time.

"Ooohhh.. Somebody is looking gorgeous today. This one is way better than the last one, I must say." Melody complimented, as she scanned Lyrical. And looking at the way she said it and the smile Melody had on her face, proved she was not flirting but genuinely meant it.

Lyrical could feel a deep blush on her face. "Thanks", she murmured.

Melody simpered looking at how amazing Lyrical looked today, not that she usually didn't. For Melody, no matter what Lyrical wore, made her heart flutter.

Lyrical sat inside the car and strapped the seatbelt around her, buckling it. That's when she noticed what Melody was wearing.

Melody had worn a shimmery deep neck off-white top and bomber jacket, paired with light blue jeans and boots below it. Lyrical was sure, there was definitely nothing beneath it.

'Is she even wearing.. why do I care,' she muttered to herself. But she felt hot, so Lyrical averted her eyes.  After few minutes, Lyrical cleared her throat.

"What is it, darling? Are you alright?" Melody asked her out of concern.  "No. I'm fine." She replied. There was something on her mind and she was contemplating on whether she should be asking. "Mind if I ask you something?" she queried.

"Sure hon. Go ahead." Melody shrugged wondering what could Lyrical possibly want to know.  But, Lyrical did not say anything for a long time and Melody did not force her either. Whatever was going on in her mind, if she needs her time- then Melody was not going to rush her.

When Lyrical had finally made up her mind, she turn to face her, "M-Melody." Lyrical poked fun at her by saying, "Like seriously, let me ask you this. Why do you keep wearing such audacious outfits and showing those things? When you clearly are not in for a relationship."

"What. You don't like it?" Melody gave her a side look. "I think I've got great things. Why keep it hidden?"

"What? Do you mean.." Lyrical was puzzled, as to what to make of this statement.  Melody was known for her flirty comments, she hardly said anything that she meant literally. Since the time they have met, Melody has been like this. At least with her.

"We've reached. Let's get our arse in there. C'mon!" Melody clapped her hands in excitement.

Spirited, candid, and absolutely straight, Edwina operated a gay bar.

This bar was dimly lit, but the people coming in here made it bright and lively with their vibrant clothes and personality. It was very large and wide, tempting and seductive, relaxed with wild people, and the best place to socialize, or was it just Melody who felt that way.  This is the only place where she could be herself, after all.

Edwina and Melody completed their education in the same university and have known each other since then.  Edwina was her senior and also the one who recognized the shyness in that bold outspoken attitude and loneliness in that chirpy, always with a smile, girl. They became friends because, even though Edwina saw Melody getting into fights every now and then, but Edwina knew she is a harmless girl.

Edwina invited Melody to this bar when it was newly opened because here nobody was going to judge her. They were all alike, people with different sexual choices who don't make fun of others.  Nobody called her abnormal, twat, twink, or queer. Melody was just a normal, beautiful girl for the people, in this bar.

Melody came to this bar to spend a few drunk hours with her friend, whenever she could squeeze out time and when she is in no mood to go home. She always had fun chatting with others and getting drunk, which helped her lose track of time she had to spend alone back at her apartment, feeling lonely.  Sometimes, she also found herself a suitable sexy partner to spend the night with, but couldn't get herself to go beyond spending just one night.

Melody neither went to their house nor invited them to hers. Whenever she found herself a partner, they went to Edwina's place which was nearby to the bar.  But, Melody hated the idea of using Edwina's apartment for her pleasure and so did Edwina. That is why Melody usually stuck to spending time with Edwina.

Today, she brought Lyrical along with her. This would be the third time they were spending time together outside that usual office atmostphere and also Lyrical was the first person Melody gave a peek inside of her life which was not so easily available to others.

Gisselle had spent three years with her but did not knew anything about Melody's weekend hangout place. Though she knew the owner and good friend of Melody, Edwina. Briefly.

"Come here with me sweetheart. Lemme introduce you to my girl", Melody chirped and pulled Lyrical' hand.  They traversed through the dance floor and got to the bar where Edwina was busy serving drinks and chit-chatting with her customers. As soon as she saw Melody, she excused herself and skated towards her.

"Ssup my gurl?" Edwina hugged Melody tightly and nudged her.. "I see you've got a company tonight."  Before Melody could speak, Edwina introduced herself. "Darling! I'm Edwina. This is my place.. I mean, I'm the owner of the bar, so feel free to order whatever you like, it's on Me."

"Lyrical", she introduced herself and shook her hand.  "Oh! Lyrical and Melody, huh? Made for each other, eh?", Edwina perked her eyebrow when she turned her head to look at Melody and picked on her friend.

"You are actually the second person who said this, Ed. I am guessing that's what it is, then." Melody winked at Lyrical "Don't you agree?"  "You are totally out of your mind", Lyrical sat down on the barstool and ordered for a glass of water.

Somebody called Melody's name, so she left from the bar, leaving Lyrical and Edwina in each other's company.

"Hey! What makes you so upset? We were just kidding." Edwina questioned as she passed a glass of water and a beer can. "Drinks on me." she jutted her chin at Lyrical.  "Sorry, Edwina. But neither do I like to drink, nor do I like this place. And mind you, it is not what you think it is. I mean.. we both aren't together. She is actually my boss, who, as you can see, uses her position to dominate me." Lyrical narrowed her eyes at Melody.

"And I definitely don't like her calling me by these dovey names, like all the time. How can she be so flirty?" Lyrical shook her head and let out all her frustration in front of Edwina, and later regretted it because she and Melody were friends.

But, Edwina chuckled and smiled at her, "Don't worry, I won't tell her anything." She made the action of zipping her mouth. "C'mon girl. You should just relax! It's a weekend, enjoy. Get drunk, dance, and have some fun." She said while dramatically motioning her hand in front of Lyrical.

"You are so.. so uptight about everything. Look.. umm.. Lyrical, right?" Edwina asked and Lyrical nodded. "Look around you, if you remove the gender bias thinking, you'll see two people in love having a good time. It's that simple." Edwina shrugged her shoulders.

Melody came back with another friend of hers, "Hey girls! Missed me?" she joked and both the ladies rolled their eyes. Lyrical huffed.

"This is Monica, one of my friend I met in this bar. Remember I had told you about her?" Lyrical nodded. "The one who marked you," Lyrical muttered in such a low voice, that only Melody heard her.

"Oh, and she is Lyrical, my.." Melody did not know how to introduce Lyrical to everyone. She was her assistant and even a friend maybe, but for her, Lyrical meant more than just that.  "..my assistant Gisselle's replacement.", she stated.  Lyrical was the first to stretch her hand out and Monica shook her hand.

To hide her friend's nonsensical lie and awkwardness, Edwina changed the topic and diverted their attention towards her.  She clapped her hands and asked, "What are you drinking girls? You're not going home without having fun, eh? And that includes you too, Lyrical. Loosen up. If not beer, would you like to have wine or a mocktail?"

"May I have a soft drink?", Lyrical replied.  "As you please." Melody interrupted. "Let's not force her to drink, Ed."

"Oh..k. Now get on the dance floor bitches. Move that sexy ass of yours. Y'all have become fat sitting at one place all week, go lose it." Edwina teased and annoyed them.

"Would you join us?" Monica asked Lyrical, to which she shook her head. "I'd rather not."

"Let her be" Melody interjected and they both went on the dance floor, while Lyrical remained seated on the barstool watching everyone and having her soft drink.

The music was loud but rejuvenating. Everyone dancing looked highly energetic. Some people danced in a funny way like they were hopping at the place or jumping together, some were grooving to the music and a few were swaying their asses in a seductive way, trying to get as close as they could get to each other.

Lyrical noticed Melody and Monica were undisturbed by the rest of the commotion, they were just swaying slightly and swinging their bodies with each other. They were holding each other close and just moving their bodies, but it looked so much in sync.

Melody looked happy and had a smile Lyrical rarely saw on her face. "She must really enjoy coming here," Lyrical muttered under her breath.

While Lyrical was so lost in her thought, she did not notice Melody was out of the dance floor and was walking towards her.

"Which one of the cute guy are you looking at?" Melody purred in her seductive voice, moving too close to her, which only made Lyrical jump out of her skin.  "Is there any use looking at anyone? After all, they are.." Lyrical blabbered, then paused realizing her mistake.  "..Gay, is it?" Melody looked sour and upset. "Is it that bad to love the same gender? Isn't it still love?" she retorted.

Lyrical avoided Melody's gaze which was boring a hole in her. She made another mistake when she cringed her face and shrugged unintentionally, which in turn hurt Melody even more.  Melody went back to Monica, who was still on the dance floor, only this time she was not in the mood to enjoy herself anymore.

Her mind kept drifting back to what Lyrical said. 'She is never going to ever look at me.' And Melody firmly believed that.  She pulled Monica's hand and rushed towards the washroom, went inside one of the empty cubical, and kissed her hard.

Monica's tongue went inside Melody's mouth and she explored it passionately, but Melody suddenly held back and did not reciprocate it with equal passion.  Although Melody was the one who had dragged Monica, because she had lost her mind, and now she was in the mood for this anymore.

Monica kissed her neck, licked, and bit it. Her wet tongue explored every inch of Melody's neck, she groaned and slipped her hand inside the clothes Melody was wearing. She grabbed and pulled Melody's bra and kissed her naked bosom, licked it.

Melody was not responding to anything Monica did and she soon realized it. "You love her, isn't it? The one sitting outside, your so-called assistant or what-ever shit you lied about her. That girl doesn't even give you a glance and you are falling for her? She is not like you.. like us, don't you know that?", Monica spat in anger and frustration.

It was already getting so difficult to see Melody these days. Monica missed her so much and now Melody was being grately distracted and getting distant from her.  Whenever, Melody came to this bar Monica has been the only one she had hooking up with, since last year. Suddenly everything seemed different about her and Monica was not liking it.

"I am talking to you, Melody." Monica pinned her towards the wall, however, Melody pushed her back, straightened her clothes, and left the cubical.

"What's so different about her, apart from the fact that she is straight," Monica questioned her as she stood there at the door. "And you very well know, we cannot fall for people like her, it'll only bring us heartbreak."

Melody balled her fingers into a fist, punched the wall, then pushed the door and skirted through the crowd straight towards where Lyrical was seated.

On the other hand, when Melody went missing from the dance floor along with Monica, Lyrical could very well comprehend the situation.  What she didn't understand was why it made her feel so uncomfortable and restless. It was none of her business and not her concern what Melody does in her personal life. She is not her boss, right now.

Lyrical turned to face towards the bar, she found Edwina already looking at her. To avoid the awkwardness, Edwina asked, "Are you sure you won't drink something else?" to which Lyrical shook her head. "I don't drink and also I'm lightheaded."

"Oh, Then.. Will you come back here again? I mean.. Melody does not have many friends and it's good if you could accompany her, so she would have more friends and I can focus more on my work here." She laughed heartily and Lyrical too laughed, but awkwardly.

"As if she needs me," Lyrical muttered under her breath.  Suddenly, she felt a hand grabbing her arms and instantly walking out of the bar.  "What do you think you are doing, dragging me like this, huh? We didn't even tell Edwina that we are leaving and just walked out. How can you be so discourteous?" Lyrical lashed out.

"I'll text her later, let's go. We are leaving now," Melody paid no heed to what Lyrical had to say. All she wanted to do was just get lost somewhere.  She immediately went towards her car and started the engine, before Lyrical could even react.

"Hop in," Melody ordered.  "What the hell is wrong with you? At least tell me that much." she lashed out in anger, but received no reply.

They both were silent and lost in their own thoughts, "Come home with me tonight." Melody spoke first, breaking the silence.  "I have a home to go back to.. so, why would I go to your place?" Lyrical replied with rudeness.

"Damn it." She yelled and banged on the steering wheel. "Why can't you for once just listen to me without questioning? It's past midnight, do you think they will still be awake or do you want to disturb your family at this late hour?"

Lyrical knew her uncle and aunt will be asleep by now and she would hate to disturb her family, but going back with Melody to her place was not what she wanted to do now.

Even though she had told her aunt, she'll be staying at her friend's place, but, right now Melody was not in a good mood and Lyrical knew they will just end up fighting. So, she preferred to go home.

Melody stamped on the break and the car came to halt abruptly, "So, you would like to disturb your family while they are asleep, rather than going back with me, is it?"  Lyrical did not reply nor did she make any movement.  "Answer me god damn it?" Melody roared again, her voice elevated as if it would shatter the glass windows.

"Fine. I'll go to your place, only for tonight." But Lyrical still did not move or look at her.  "Look at me when I'm talking to you. Do you think I have a very filthy face that you can't even look at it?" Melody grabbed her shoulder so harshly, that it made Lyrical descent towards her side and face her.

Lyrical was astounded at what she had heard. This woman who was sitting beside her was the most beautiful woman she had ever met. How can she say such a thing and moreover what made her think this way?

Melody slowly moved towards Lyrical, her eyes hooked on the lips and her breathing heavy. She wanted to kiss Lyrical tonight, feel the softness on hers and taste its sweetness.

"Did you fight with Monica?" Lyrical suddenly enquired interrupting her fantasy.  Melody paused at this question completely baffled and also felt a bit agitated.  She quietly moved back, put the car to ignition and drove to her place. She stomped out of the car, not caring about Lyrical who was walking behind her.  They both went to her apartment, helped Lyrical set up her bed.

"You can sleep on the bed tonight," Melody said simply, her face held no expression at all.  "And what about…?" Just when Lyrical was about to ask this question, Melody walked out of the bedroom.  She kept the key hanging on the hook, informed Lyrical about it, and walked out of the apartment without saying anything further.

She drove all night and halted on a bridge, resting her head on the headrest of the car, slamming it from time to time to ease out her frustration, but did not come back to her apartment.

In the middle of the night, Lyrical woke up. She walked around and realized Melody had not come back.  She sat there wondering what could've happened between Melody and Monica that made her so upset.  She heard the main door open and Melody came in. "Where have you been?" she inquired, displease by her absense the entire night.

Melody ignored her. She undressed herself to take a quick bath. She took out a quilt out from a cabinet and went to sleep on the couch, instead of answering her question.

"Go back to sleep. I'm tired." A muffled voice into the sheets reached Lyrical's ears.

Lyrical did not question her any further. 'Of course, she must be tired', Lyrical scolded herself for asking questions as soon as Melody walked in. Then she quietly went back to sleep.
