Chapter 21 - Ronan Regelia

The King lead five men towards the creature. Two were rather young, his grandsons, two other were quite old, one was his father and the other his father-in-law, and the last one was his nephew, Marcus' own son.

Roy wondered where Marcus was at the moment. Though, he supposed that wouldn't matter much since his brother's offensive nature of the Regelia ability wouldn't be of much use for what these six intended to do.

Of those in the group, four possessed the defensive nature of the power, which included the King. The remaining two, Marcus' son and one of the King's grandson, inherited the free nature of the Regelia power. Those two would be incredibly useful to their cause.

The plan was simple. The two bearing the free nature took the lead and sent a wall of their power to split the shadowy creature in two, right down the center between its eyes. Then those others made their way around it at four centralized points where they then let their power envelop one half of the creature.

Meanwhile, the army of Gifted and soldiers continued to attack the other half.

The King's power enveloped about a quarter of the creature where it then met with his father's cubical barrier that then met his father-in-law's power which then in turn met the King's other grandson's power.

Then the two possessing the free nature of the Regelia power evened it out and warped all the barriers together as well as added their own to create a giant dome with six layers to keep the creature within.

Of course the monster, who was left with only one eye, continued to swat away at the dome's inside but as it cracked one layer of the barrier, it was met with another, either it was King's grandson or his nephew that would create another barrier on the outside to replace the barrier that had been broken. As a result, the creature found itself trapped within a six layered barrier that would continuously heal itself when one of those layers were destroyed.

Once more, the Gifted continued to fire away at the dark mass of shadow. The only difference was that it was now half of what is should have been. That being said, it was still quite large. And now, it was also quite furious as it tried to make its way towards its other self, trapped within the Regelia dome.

But walls of water accompanied by bolts of lightning stopped it from approaching any closer as three figures flew through air and aimed their fists towards the creature's red eye.

Emrit was once more was in the lead. But as the monster reached an arm to swat the man away, he punched forth the air and propelled himself backwards where Lias then grabbed his hand and sent him flying higher into the air.

Eon was also thrown upwards by Lias, who was now falling to the ground. And then, Eon grabbed his father's hand to swing the man around in midair and sent him rocketing down towards the creature, faster than he could have moved by himself, to land a fist of fury right in the center of the monster's huge red eye.

It screamed in agony as its 'face' was shattered apart and fumed black smoke while Emrit launched himself backwards to where his two sons had fallen.

"Why you!" the monster raged as its face became composed once more. Then its eyes began to glow and some parts of him started to dissipate into smoke.

The monster smiled as an arm then appeared behind Emrit.

But the man effortlessly caught it and crushed the mass of shadow which then vanished away as black smoke danced into the air.

Emrit let an arrogant smirk show on his face. "You're a fool to have let yourself change into what you are now. Had you remained in your other form, things might have been a bit more difficult for us."

And at that same moment, flames began to rain from the sky accompanied by catapults that were rigged with explosives as well as arrows that sparked with lightning.

They all met their marks on different parts of the massive shadow. Unable to dodge all the attacks, due to its massive size, the creature groaned in agony.

But that groan soon became a fierce face as it stretched out its arms to tear apart the world in front of him. Some parts of him also disappeared and appeared at his will to confuse the army and disorient them from within.

But soon winds began to spin and pull all those little particles of malice together as golden beams of light then destroyed them entirely.

This, of course, made the shadow even madder.

But there was nothing else he could do but slowly back away as he was swarmed by the furious army of ants before him.

But then a thought went through his mind.

He couldn't beat the humans.

He couldn't get to his other half.

But he could get to the Kingdom behind him. He smiled so cruelly and soon he disappeared entirely.

And when the Lady Aerite and her family tried to find the black particles with their wind, they were nowhere to be seen.

All soon realized where the monster had gone as the shadows appeared on the great walls that protected the capital.

The monster had gone to the Kingdom and with most Gifted absent there, it would only continue to wreak havoc as the citizens screamed for mercy.

But that was not what happened. For there were some Gifted still in the capital. And two such were the first and second daughters of King Roy. And while those two were not battle hardened, even they could be of some help.

And with the Gifts that they were given from birth, two barriers were erected.

The first was yellow and bright, covering the entire Kingdom itself while the other was red like Roy's and formed the shape of a ball with the addition that it also had thorns casted on top of it. The second barrier was not as large as the first and only covered the castle's compound but that also made it thicker and sturdier than the other.

But even so, it would only be a matter of time before the creature broke apart these last rays of hope. Now the question remained, would the Gifted make it there before the creature found its way into the capital?

Well, the answer to that was irrelevant. Since those barriers soon became shattered in the blink of an eye as Emrit along with the other family leaders rushed towards the capital. But it was not the monster that did it. A man warped by the colors of the rainbow soon emerged, shining brightly as the morning sun that rose from the east.

It was difficult to see what exactly he did. But from the distance, Emrit could see his powers spiraling around him in a chaotic fashion – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and indigo. All those powers soon joined together and in a flash of remarkably bright light, a blast was seen that blinded most and when it was gone, so was the monster.

~

Evan was trapped within darkness looking forward at the lights that flashed before his mind. Those colors joined together and a symbol was made – it had seven evenly spaced lines placed around in a circle, each of which only had one color to it, that warped into the center at one spot that was multicolored like a rainbow.

But the symbol soon disappeared and Evan once more found himself in reality. He looked at his at his hand with colors spiraling around it that soon disappeared as he descended slowly to the ground and landed on the wall that overlooked the capital.

There he saw several figures moving towards the capital at great speeds. The first of those was Emrit's father who cradled his small mother within his hands.

What was happening?

Emrit landed in front the boy as Lias and Eon came from behind. As soon as his mother saw him, she ran and gave him a hug. "You're awake. Thank Goodness!" she exclaimed.

Awake? The last thing Evan remembered was going to his room where he had lied down in bed. And it was after that did the whole fiasco with colors began.

But what was he doing here?

"What was that?" Emrit walked up to the boy. "There was something here. Something that destroyed the monster. You must have seen it."

"I-I…" the boy placed a hand on his forehead as it ached. "It was me." He replied. His head continued to ache. Something wasn't right. Something was missing in him. "Or at least I think it was." He then recalled the voice that was in his head. It told him that he needed to give something in return for having power. But what did that voice take from him. He couldn't remember.

"Mom." He said quietly. "You're…I'm…who am I again? You're my mother right? I'm…I'm…"

"Evan…" Mohan said as she held the boy's shoulder and looked into his eyes. "Don't you remember your name?"

"Evan…" he replied quietly. "No, that isn't right." He said again and pushed the woman away as he walked to the edge of the wall. "You're not my mom." He looked to Emrit. "You're not my father." Then he clenched his fist and looked to the morning sun. "I'm not Evan."

The strange symbol then appeared in his eyes. He looked around to those Gifted that now surrounded him, the family leaders were all there with the exception of the King who remained on the battlefield to guard the other half of the shadow.

"My name is Ronan Regelia, the founder and first King of Efidel"
