Crow

Looking at the young man who was leaving the field, concerned, Eleine approached her friend and faced her.

— Why did you lie to him?—

Without changing her expression, Aisha looked at the destroyed walls in the place and thought about what happened during the fight.

— Answer me, because you gave your family treasure to a stranger—

Eleine had realized that the young man's attack, although powerful, was not capable of activating the protection of Aisha's necklace.

Sensing her friend's concern, Aisha turned around looking into her eyes, showing her a sincere smile.

— What do you think about this—

Picking up a rubble from the ground, Aisha presented a piece of protective glass over her hands and waited for her friend's reaction.

Surprised, Eleine took the crystal in her hands and tried to release the protection from her, but the inside of her was completely empty.

— It's likely that he still hasn't mastered his strength, it even seems that his body hasn't been exposed to the magic particles for a long time—

— I understand—

Looking at her friend's face, Eleine could only shake her head and take her shoulder.

—I just hope his body doesn't reject magic—

In the dark elf race, at birth, parents perform a ritual to see the baby's affinity with magic.

Those with a bad affinity to magic are protected by talismans or protective necklaces, so that the growing baby does not have a negative reaction to the magic particles.

In the worst case, when one of them has a negative reaction, his body explodes releasing all the magic particles that he could not assimilate, destroying everything a hundred meters around him.

Upon arriving at the house assigned to the young man, his escorts handed him a scroll with all the basic information and his first order.

— Soldier, from this moment on he belongs to the sixteenth outpost. Hearing the first trumpet of the morning, you must appear before the guard and follow his orders, do you have any question?—

— No sir!—

When they finished giving the last greetings, the group withdrew, leaving the young man alone.

— Crow—

That was the code name they gave the young man.

In the entire sixteenth outpost village, only Aisha, Eleine, and an explosive redhead possessed their original names, everyone else could only be called by rank or codename if necessary.

After the entrance test, all soldiers must collect merit before they can get their name back.

Within the village, most of the soldiers had been working on it for hundreds of years, the amount of merit was excessive and close to his village, only dangerous beasts were able to award him some points.

Although Crow had lost his name, the memories of his family and his past had not been erased, thinking of them he remembered the reason he had for joining the village.

The house that Crow was assigned had one bedroom, a small empty room, and the space where there should be a kitchen was empty, nowhere could you find a bathroom.

Worried, Crow left his house and went to greet his neighbor to consult her about the bathroom.

Touching the door, inside he could hear various things falling to the ground, while hurried steps approached the entrance.

— Yes, who is it?—

Upon opening the door, a young man with dark green hair appeared with his clothes a bit messy.

— Hi, I'm his new neighbor, they call me Crow—

— Crow? oh I see. Mine is Leaf, welcome to town—

Looking inside Leaf's house, Crow could see that everything was a complete mess, with books and scrolls everywhere.

— Do you need help with that?—

Seeing Crow's good intentions, young Leaf was grateful for the help, and they both began to pick up the books.

By reading the covers of some books, Crow was able to find that the main subject of them was the study of magic.

— Leaf, you have many magic books, but I would like to know if you have one on the history of the world—

— I have one on the history of the kingdom of Asturias and a bit of its past, but if you are looking for a more complete book you will only be able to find them in the capital—

After clearing the floor, Leaf pulled a very thin book from the shelves.

— This is a story that my parents read to me when I was little, I hope it answers some of your questions—

Taking the book, Crow remembered the reason for his visit and a little uncomfortable asked.

— I'm just getting used to my new home, but I didn't see any toilets or showers, don't you use those things here?—

Looking a little doubtful, Leaf took a small gray gem and handed it to Crow.

— In your house there must be an empty room, there look for an indentation where you can use this gem and wait a moment until it works—

Trusting his neighbor, Crow returned to his home and searched for the cleft Leaf mentioned to him.

When placing the gem, a light surrounded the room, appearing a magical circuit that began to modify the place.

In just a few minutes, a shower and toilet system appeared.

Surprised, he approached a small fountain, where when he turned on the tap, crystal clear water came out without stopping.

— I can finally take a bath—

Taking off his clothes, Crow spent an hour cleaning his entire body underwater. Although he always took care to stay clean, he missed taking a shower in a safe place.

That night, after a long time, Crow cut off his beard, showing in front of the mirror the face that he remembered.

— Not bad, I still look a little younger than before—

After a while, the young man took the book that Leaf had lent him and began to read it.

According to history, more than ten thousand years ago, on the continent of Aios there was Tremo, a kingdom that housed thousands of races in its lands.

In that kingdom, different peoples and tribes from its borders were absorbed by Tremo, losing their beliefs over time.

During the last years of the kingdom, a war broke out in the desert, west of Aios. Millions of tribes were angered by Tremo's actions for robbing his people and forcing them to lose their culture.

After years of arguments and confrontations, one side appeared in the desert.

Led by a single force, the desert people invaded Tremo, where in just five years they managed to conquer more than eighty percent of the kingdom.

Before the imminent destruction of Tremo, the king along with his family were assassinated by his bad decisions, causing the neighboring kingdoms to help the declining kingdom, in exchange for a part of his lands.

With the reinforcement of millions of soldiers, the battles lasted for more than a hundred years, where in the end, the desert tribes decided to withdraw without first forming a pact with the allied army.

In the writing it was dictated that as long as the allied kingdoms did not kidnap the desert people, the tribes would not attack.

After the armies withdrew, the kingdoms of Asturias, Lions, and Era rose up as guardians of the desert frontier.

Nothing was mentioned in the book about the human race. According to history, the kingdom of Asturias was ruled by the dark elves, where Princess Eleine belongs to the Royal family.

In the kingdom of Lions, the dominant race was that of the orcs and the kingdom of Era was populated only by female warriors of different races.

Although Crow did not understand how in a kingdom only women could be born, seeing the ease with which the dark elves used magic, he thought they must have a special method.

That night, Crow could dream nothing and only got up when the sound of the first trumpet of the day invaded the town.

Wearing the clothing that the soldiers had prepared for him, Crow felt somewhat uncomfortable wearing the ancient Greek-like clothing, but seeing that it was common in the people of the streets, he just resigned himself and headed to the post of the guard.

In front of the village barrier, five rows of soldiers were lined up, the group was made up of both men and women.

After reporting to the soldier in charge, Crow was sent to get himself a set of armor, otherwise he would not be able to train with the group.

Following the address given to him, Crow arrived at a shop with a sign of a hammer and a sword on his forehead.

Entering the store, the atmosphere was warm along with a heavy smell for ordinary people.

— Hello, is there anyone here?—

After raising his voice, agitated footsteps were heard in the distance.

After a long run, a red-haired girl no more than five feet tall appeared in front of Crow.

What surprised Crow, was that the girl in front of him was the first person who was not a dark elf. He excitedly approached the girl and asked her where she was from.

— You are strange, I am of the dwarf race. Are you blind or what?—

Not being bothered by the girl's tone, Crow handed the girl a card hoping that she would give him the armor they asked for.

— So you were sent by Eleine, and I thought you were a client—

Taking a tape measure, the girl measured Crow's body.

In just a few minutes she began to search through his things and found a somewhat worn armor along with a short sword.

— With that you should hold out for a while, don't forget to come back to do maintenance or it will damage you—

— Thank you very much, my name is Crow, yours is—

—Flare—

Looking at the doubt on Crow's face she added she.

—I don't belong to the kingdom of Asturias, I'm just a wandering blacksmith who settled in this town—

As he finished putting on his armor, Crow started to leave the tent when he heard Flare's voice.

— By the way, I'm only two hundred and forty years old, I'm not as old as you think—

Feeling his common sense still distorting, Crow returned with the village guard.
