The First Question

"Feline," Sean called out as they stopped at the corner of the street. They were close to Sean's house. The sun completely disappeared. Feline turned her head to Sean. The glow on his hair was still evident, giving off his look of a warm ambiance.

Feline couldn't stop staring at his manly figure. She raised her eyebrows, waiting for him to say something. Sean pondered, "I wanted to go back to where I belong. Will you be... uncomfortable if I ask who I worked with?"

Feline didn't know if that was a good or an inappropriate question. She stopped, comprehending his question. He stared at her eyes, but she seemed hesitant to answer back. Feline didn't want to respond, but she need to. Or else confusion would kill him.

Feline sighed, muttering, "Yeah. You can ask me everything. I won't bother to answer it."

Sean nodded, preparing those questions that he planned to ask earlier. He went berserk as his heart thumped in a beat. How come Feline has that effect on him? What was it called once again? Those butterflies in his stomach?

Her black hair cascaded all over her shoulders. The shine in her eyes indicated she loves him. Sean was getting used to it... bit after bit...

As he recovered, he uttered, "I'll be asking you 10 questions. One for each month, can I?"

Feline tilted her head to one side as she didn't understand. She only nodded, but the context wasn't even that real. Those 10 questions might be the end of her life and promise. The love she felt wouldn't be worth catching, after all. If Sean remembered those moments with Friya, it's the endgame. And she lost.

"Ten? That's your questions?" Feline didn't seem to catch up with Sean's statement. He'd only ask 1 question per month. That means...

"If I ask this one question this month, answer it back honestly, will you?" Sean didn't even pause with his words. He's serious enough to do it. He wanted to gain his memories back. Feline stared at him, swallowing as she knew the lies would soon attach to her words. She nodded, trying to convince herself of the truth in front of her.

"Would you do it or not?" Sean queried. Feline agreed with it, beaming. Sean showed off his dimples, too. He hissed, trying to shuffle those thoughts, and end up with that one question. Sean found it easy. Feline shouldn't hesitate to say the answer.

"When is our anniversary?" As soon as Feline heard it, her heart sank. She doesn't know what she could feel or even say. Though she was the mistress before, she's the real one now. Or was she presenting herself to be one and fill in Friya's spot even though she doesn't have any right?

Of course she does. They broke up before the accident.

"It's April 1, 2011. The April Fool's Day. Everyone said that our relationship was a joke, but on that day... it became real." Feline pretended to be bubbly. Although everyone knew who it was. Friya answered him on that day. She doesn't even know why she did that.

The school was full of jokes and pranks, but Friya wasn't fooling around. She answered him with a yes. Feline was watching them at a distance, and as her heart struck in million pieces, she doesn't have any time to pick it up. Besides, it's destroyed in shards.

"Really? April 1 was..." he laughed, showing off his cheeky smile.

"Yeah. You thought I was joking around, pulling off a prank on you. But then, when you looked into my eyes, you would know I was saying was real," Feline explained. She's an expert with these story. If she ever made up a novel, for sure, she would be number one in rankings.

She rolled that tongue as she made him believe. Feline wanted to punch her mouth for saying those lies. Sean even brushed his hand over his forehead. He guffawed, as he couldn't believe it.

"Yeah, laugh at that. I was the one to blame. I answered you on April Fools, so I was expecting some kind of surprise for you. And I never failed." Feline also joined him with the laughter. Sean nodded. The happy tears were coming off his tear ducts. Feline held his forearm as she leaned her face closer.

They both stood there, their faces inches away from each other. Sean didn't even bother how close she was. Besides, he knew he was her boyfriend. Sean smiled at her, raising his hands. He soothed the side of her head, and Feline felt his warm touch.

"I was going to say you're a liar, but... you made me laugh with that," Sean even laughed as he caressed her hair. Feline threw her arms around him underneath that shade of light. She cocooned her head in the burrow of his neck, sniffing in the scent of his manliness.

Feline felt at home in a matter of seconds. Sean didn't hesitate as he hugged her back. She leaned closer, her head bobbed at his cheek. Sean swayed along, dancing her around as Feline chuckled.

Feline also did the same thing as Sean unclasped his hands. He retrieved her forearm, intertwining his fingers around hers. Feline sensed the electricity spreading all over her body. Sean's touch made her weak all over again.

Sean danced with her, and she must say, it was the best moment of her life before the early night succumbed to them. They both laughed, happy to be with each other. Both of them fluttered those butterfly's wings, both flustered with the presence.

Sean stepped to the side while Feline did the same thing. They twirled around, fortunate enough to have that desolated street as their companion. Sean finished their dance with a hug. He breathed, turning his head to one side.

Closing his eyes, he planted a kiss on her temples. Feline felt that subtle and soft lip. She doesn't know what to do but to tighten her grip on his clothes. She leaned her cheek on his tawny chest after a while.

If this isn't love, what the hell was it? Feline thought.
