Epilogue: Carl

Now what? After stopping what seemed like the end of the World, the Jumpers are no more. Their threat to this planet has been vanquished. Saving Amy just in time to spare her life and her memories.

In the days following the victory, Amy and Frank had returned home to San Diego. Egor had gone on to begin studying the ring confiscated from Julia. Eager to understand its inner workings, he returned to his shop to begin this venture.

Upon returning home, Amy and Frank realized the extent of the damage done to their house and the neighborhood. Standing outside down by the road next to her car, was Amelia. She's the babysitter. She was on the phone.

Frank, Amy, and Susie had stepped through a portal leading from the Jumpers' compound back to BridgeWater Street, their home.

"They're not here," Amelia talked on the phone, "there's a huge ass hole in the upstairs bedroom!"

Frank and Amy and Susie all stood behind her. The portal remained open. Amelia, holding her school books in her arm, turned around when she heard shuffling sounds.

Her mouth dropped, her phone fell out of her hand. She dropped her books and gave the two of them a embrace of relief.

"You're okay!" Amelia mumbled as she backed away. "I was worried sick!"

Susie stood behind them. Her hands down in front of her. She had a soft, faint smile.

"MOM!" James shouted.

"DAD!" Carl yelled.

They ran down the front steps to the neighbor's house. They raced across the front lawn and across the street. Frank and Amy turned around just as they jumped into their arms. Amy picked James up, and Frank picked Carl up.

"We missed you so much! We thought you'd never come back," James told his mom as he rested his head on her shoulder. She rested her head on his, closing her eyes and smiling. This never gets old. It's the best thing about having kids.

Amelia took her backpack straps off her shoulders, dropping it onto the ground next to her books. She joined in on this warm embrace.

Pete and Sue, their neighbors who watched James and Carl, came walking over to them from their house.

"I love you so much, dad," Carl mumbled.

"I love you too bud," Frank said as he set Carl down.

"I really must be on my way," Susie told them, "Egor and I have a-lot of work that requires our attention."

James saw something reflective on the driveway ground. Curious, he went over to it. He leaned over to pick it up, putting it in his pocket before his parents saw what he was doing.

"James," Frank called out as James ran back over to them. Frank set his hand on James' head, rubbing it. "There's someone your mother wants you to meet. You too Carl."

Susie smiled as she kneeled down. She set her hands down on her legs as Carl and James walked up to her.

"Boys, this is Suzanne," Amy said as she looked down at them, "your great-grandmother."

"You don't look like a grandma," Carl told her, which made everyone laugh.

Amelia got down onto her knees to pick up her school books and phone. The call was still on-going.

"Mom, I'll call you back," Amelia said as she hung up the phone call, putting her phone in her denim jacket front pocket.

"Nice to meet you boys," Susie said with a bright smile. As she stood back up, she glanced over at Amy. "You two be good to your mother, now."

Carl saw the ring she was wearing on her finger, and then glanced at his moms hand. The two of them were wearing the same ring.

"Why do you guys have the same ring?" Carl asked his mom.

"These aren't just any old rings," Susie told Carl, "watch this. Let's show 'em."

Amy smiled as they held their rings up close to each other. When they did, the two rings began glowing, pulsating like a beating heart.

"Woah!" The boys said in awe, "that's so cool!"

"Wait, does that mean–," James began saying.

"You're a superhero?" Carl asked.

"What do you think?" Amy said, followed by a subtle chuckle.

"You've always been my hero mama," James said as he walked over to her to give her a hug.

"Awe," Susie said, "but I must be going now."

James and Amy finished embracing. Amy then looked over at Susie and walked over to her with her arms out. They hugged one last time before parting ways.

"You take care of yourself," Susie told Amy, "keep your family safe. Until our paths cross again."

Amy smiled and wiped a trickling tear off her cheek. Susie grabbed her hands and held them. She smiled and nodded her head. Letting go, she took a few steps backwards, stepping into the portal and out again back in the warehouse.

"You know we never did have that picnic," Amy blurted out as she remembered.

"Rain check," Susie said as she held up her right hand, snapping her fingers once. When she did, the portal quickly shrank and then popped like a bubble, followed by micro green sparkles fluttering down onto the road.

"Amelia, would you watch the boys for a little bit?" Amy asked, "I have something I have to do."

"Of course," Amelia said as she picked up her backpack, throwing one strap over her shoulder. "I'll be back in a bit, okay dear?" Amy told Frank as she gave him a kiss.

"Where you go, I go too," he told her, "I'm not losing you again!"

"Come boys," Amelia said as she opened the backseat door behind the driver seat. "We'll go get ice cream and go to the park."

Carl and James crawled into the backseat. Amelia shut their door and opened hers. She tossed her bag onto the passenger seat, then sat in her seat and closed the door.

"Come with me," Amy told him as she grabbed his hand.

Carl and James quickly buckled up just as Amelia started the car.

"Want to see what I found?" James asked Carl as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a ring.

"Woah, that looks just like mom's!" Carl said, "where'd you find that?"

"On the ground behind moms car."

"Can I see?" Carl asked.

"No!" James said as he put it on his finger. "Finders keepers!"

The ring was silver, but instead of the green emerald like Amy and Susie had, this one was orange; otherwise known as the rings the Jumpers used. It was too big for his finger, but magically shrunk to his finger size.

"I want one!" Carl complained.

"You snooze, you lose dumby!" James said.

Elsewhere in San Diego…

"Egor's Antique Shop?" Frank asked.

"I told you I wanted to see it for myself," she told him as she walked in. The bell above the door rang as it rocked back and forth. When the door closed, it rang again.

There he was…behind the counter polishing and cleaning the glass display cases. He looked up to greet the customers who'd entered. He had no idea it was Frank and Amy. When he looked up and saw them, he smiled brightly.

"You're back already?" Egor asked.

"I want to learn," Amy told him.

"We want to learn," Frank said, "count me in too."

"When do we begin?" Amy asked.
