Chapter 9

They had walked several hours in an increasingly dense and impenetrable forest. The heat was unbearable and the travelers sweated profusely. The air had thinned and the already dim light of the forest had still faded.

“A storm is coming, it can't take long to arrive.” Jean Luc said.

“If we get wet we could feel fresher.” Aylen replied.

“The subject is not one of comfort but of danger. If it rains torrentially we will have nowhere to shelter, the water will sweep everything in its path in search of lower land and ultimately streams and rivers to drain. It can drag us along in its momentum.”

"There is also the additional danger of lightning." Added Xiang. “They fall without warning and strike trees and everything that rises from the ground.”
