CHAPTER 42

“You got this? Do you want me to come up?”

“No, Jace. I am fine.”

“Call me if you want to get out of there. Anytime. Clear?”

“Yes.” I rolled my eyes.

“And talk. Before or after, I do not care. But please talk. I beg you.”

Jason drove away cussing Robbie and me.

The receptionist froze when she saw me, then flapped around and dialled the phone.

I pressed the elevator buttons and waited.

I had no idea how to proceed. What was I going to say? What was he going to ask?

I wished Jason was here to talk on behalf of me. ‘Is there any chance you could take my best friend to watch sunset?’

I rubbed my itchy eyes.

“Baby!!!” Robbie was there waiting for me as soon as the elevator stopped.

“I am here, only for the gifts.”

He said he had gone shopping and bought me some stuff and he could not check out without my taking them from his hands.

“I am here, only for you.” He picked me up and dived his face into my neck. “I was worried sick.”
