Chapter 8

Seyi's pov

Today has been total crap and plain frustrating and it's only 12PM!!,I don't know why I agreed to study here,I was doing just fine at home,technically this is my home,but it doesn't feel like it,England has always been home to me,I don't see how that will ever change,everything here just screams stress,and my dad isn't even bothering to make it less stressful,the only upside to all of this is that Ray is here and then of course I got to meet my beautiful dark skinned goddess Ese.

Speaking of which, after our conversation yesterday,i have decided to give her space, i want her to be okay with me and annoying her to the point that she makes obvious excuses, isn't the way i'm going to do that.

While walking past students who all looked like we weren't in hell,some guys came up to me

"Hey man what's up?" A guy who I recognized as my course mate said and then extended his hand towards mine for an handshake.

"I'm good, what's up?" I said and then extended my hands to complete the handshake, I gave quick nods to the other two guys with him and they did the same

"The annual faculty dinner party is next week Friday, in the grandeur luxury banquet hall"my course mate said. I had no clue about his name,I'm terrible with names,he then handed me a small card.Before leaving he added " I think it goes without saying you have to come with a date"

"I smiled and said "Of course,thanks man"

"Alright,see you there" He said, alerted his guys and then they left.

I have had it with this day and fortunately for me,I don't have any more classes today,I went through the card that i was giving,it was laced with gold flowers with a QR code which was the only thing on the card,well this is fancy, I'll give them that.I guess I'll have to scan the code to get more details about the party.

Finally reaching my car,I opened it and went in,just when I was about to press the start button,my phone rang.

"Hey Baby,how are you,I miss you honey,so much" My mom said sounding sad

"I miss you too mom,don't be sad,I'm adjusting well I promise, how are you doing? " I said trying my best not to give away any trace of how crazy my days here have been,from the scorching hot weather to the lecturers who seem like they were hired to make us suffer and not to teach,to even the students who just behave like all this is normal,I guess to them it is,but to me?.I just want to go home,so badly that I almost called my dad to plead the hell out of him.

"Baby you do know I'm your mom right?,I know when you are lying,how bad is it?,should I call your dad?,it isn't too late to transfer back here,we can always make it work" She said sounding worried.

"Mom I'm fine seriously"

First of I hate it when she gets worried especially when I'm the reason why and then I'm so not giving my dad the room to gloat, he suggested this whole thing because apparently I'm spoiled and I need to harden up,so quitting will prove his point right,so I need to endure the heat,this damn school and basically this country.

Knowing my mom would see right through me if I keep telling her I'm fine,I decided to distract her instead and I knew exactly what to say and fortunately for me,I won't have to lie "I'm fine really and I met a girl i like" I said while waiting for the over dramatic rants.

"Seriously?,please tell me she's not some bimbo like the others,you deserve a real lady son" She said

Feeling the intense need to defend her I said "Mom she's not,she's attractive. Yes,not just attractive,she's beautiful mom,her smile,her laugh,her eyes,she's absolutely gorgeous but she's more than that,she has this fire,this fierceness,at the same time this innocence about her,she's just amazing"

Whoa,I wasn't planing on going that far,where did all that come from?

"Err Mom?"

And then I heard a gasps "My baby is in love.Seyi you are in love,and she sounds amazing baby"

"Err mom?, I said I liked her,I didn't say I was in love with her"

"Did you listen to yourself?,did you hear what you just said and how you said it?, please don't tell me you are still in denial"

"Mom you've got it all wrong,I like her,that's it,this is the same way i felt about the other girls"

"Please don't remind me that I have a player for a son" She sounded irritated

"Mom!!!,I'm not that bad,I actually did like them,it's just that the feelings.They don't last long"

"This one seems like it will,give this an actual try Seyi or just let her go,she seems like a good girl.Don't hurt her" She said firmly

"I like her mom,I really do,but what if i hurt her like I did the others, she doesn't deserve all my crap" I said in a worried tone.

"Son,this is the first time you are actually talking to me about a girl,despite all the times i have pleaded to know about your love life, this shows me that you care more than you think"

"Right...,so there's this dinner party, do you think I should ask her to be my date? "

My mom actually squealed and then said " Of course you should,Ask her!! "

"Okay mom, I'll ask her,I'll talk to you later, this has been weird enough" I joked

"Make sure you ask her.Awwwn my baby is in love"

She sounded really happy. I smiled and then said "mom I'm hanging up now,I love you,take care of yourself"

"Alright,I love you sweetie" She said and then hanged up.

My mind went straight to what she said,I'm i really in love with Ese?,I just met her,I do care about her,a lot actually,but love?,my mom was definitely overacting.

In other to distract my self from my own thoughts I decided to scan the QR code on the card

While going through the invitation all I could think about was Ese in a gold dinner dress and how to ask her.

Well the plan to go home was definitely gone,the plan to give her space was also definitely out of the window.

I dialed her number and waited to hear her voice

"Hi" She said sweetly

"Hi beautiful" I shouldn't have said that,i don't want a repeat of yesterday but i Seriously can't help myself

She chuckled "How are you?,are you free?,my classes for today just ended,Eni went out with her dad and I don't want to go home yet"

"Sure I'm free,where are you?" I said a tad too excited,what is wrong with me

"At my faculty" She said

"Okay,I'll be right there" I said and then hanged up.

I finally pressed the start button and drove off.

On getting to her faculty's car park,I took my phone and started dialling her number but before the call could go to through, I heard a knock on my car window,I lowered it and there she was smiling at me,I unlocked the door and she opened it and sat down beside me.

"How did you spot me so fast" I said

"I was seating close to the entrance,plus I have a really good eye" She said sounding proud

"Someone is taking this bragging thing to a whole new level" I said

"Yeah yeah" She said smiling

I then leaned back and closed my eyes for a bit and let out a sigh.

"Are you okay? " She said sounding worried

I guess she took what I did as a sign of tiredness,which wasn't entirely true by the way,I was a tad bit tired,true,but that wasn't the reason for my actions.

At that moment i felt like I didn't want to be anywhere else but with her and I just did that to calm myself down before I said something I'll regret and trust me I would have,it was between the lines of I love you,I want only you,I'm happy when I'm with you and will you be my girlfriend.

Fuck!!!,what's wrong with me?

"Nah it's nothing,just haven't been feeling this school or this country really" I said trying to sound tired which I wasn't anymore for obvious reasons.

"Really,well I can't do much about the school,but I can totally change your mind about our country" She said sounding all determined

"Oh really, I'll like to see you try" I said while smirking

"Challenge accepted and I don't lose" She said giving me a devious look.

I laughed so hard and then I said "okay, how do you plan on changing my view? "

"Start the car,we are going out" She said smiling

I laughed and said "yes mam"
