A month has passed since Wang Wei came to spirit saint village. His daily routine was working on the farm, working out when he gets home, and at night meditating. Wang Wei only slept for around 4 hours per day, which was hard at first, causing him to fall asleep during meditation, but it became almost normal after three weeks. He only met Tang San twice more, and that was he came to drop off farming tools, and their relationship was still sour.
It was currently early in the morning. The rising sun just touched the small spirit saint village, slowly illuminating it from east to west. The birds are chirp as the morning wind slowly blows against the crops on the farm. Inside a small house made of bricks, a young white-haired boy sat crossed-legged on a bed, the morning sun coming through the window and onto his body. Beside him lay a young white-haired girl, who looked the same as him but more feminine, with a peaceful look on her face as she slept. These two are Wang Wei and his sister, Bai Feng. A grin appeared on the boy's face as he opened his eyes, excitement visible in them.
'I finally reached level ten!!!' Wang Wei thought, his body trembling in excitement. Raising his arm into the air, he wished he could scream, but due to his disability, he is unable to. 'Fuck yeah! Now, to complete my first ascension, I need to find a ring with a 90% comparability with my martial spirit.'
[New system function unlocked; Spirit Beast Dex]
'A new function? Haha, God hasn't forsaken me.' Wang Wei smirked, pleased by the system message. 'Now, what does this new function do?'
[The Spirit Beast Dex shows the spirit beast name, year, skills, their weakness, ring ability, ring compatibility, and chances of spirit bones dropping]
'Basically a Pokedex.' Wang Wei thought, rubbing the back of his stiff neck and sighing, 'What was I supposed to expect? After all, the system is for information-gathering, which isn't bad. Though I would prefer a battle system.'
"Brother, why are you making so much noise early in the morning?" Bai Feng asked with a yawn, sitting up on the bed, rubbing her left eyes with her knuckles. "I was dreaming about something good."
[You should be celebrating, your great brother just became a level 10] Wang Wei signed, a wide grin plastered on his face.
"What? I didn't get that." Bai Feng muttered with a tired voice and falling back on the bed, going back to sleep.
Like he just noticed something, the grin on Wang Wei's face disappeared as his excitement turned to shame. 'I am getting excited out of getting to level 10 when people were born at that level.' Sighing, he got off the bed and stretched multiple thoughts running through his mind. 'Where can I find a ring with a 90% comparability with my martial spirit? Without finding a good ring, my foundation won't be as solid as I want it to be.'
Finishing his stretches, Wang Wei walked out of the room with a yawn. He hadn't slept all night due to him noticing his spirit energy, or XP as he called it, reaching the limit of level 9. Walking into the kitchen to get some water to drink, he smelled fragrant rice, noticing Jack next to the stove with an excited look on his face.
Noticing Wang Wei by the doorway, Jack said, "Good morning. Wake your sister. We are eating rice."
'I wonder why he is so excited.' Wang Wei thought, walking out of the kitchen. Forgetting about his thirst, he walked bat to the room to wake his sister.
Grabbing her by the shoulder, he shook profusely. "I am up, brother." Bai Feng shouted, wanting him to stop shaking her.
Wang Wei stopped, took a quick shower, and changed into simple black pants and a shirt. Going back to the room, he noticed Bai Feng back asleep. Getting frustrated, he picked her up from the bed and dropped her on the floor.
"Oww. Why would you do that?" Bai Feng shouted, rubbing her butt, now fully awake.
[You weren't waking up] Wang Wei signed, watching Bai Feng's eyebrows twitch.
"If it wasn't for you hugging all the space on the bed to meditate, I am sure I would have slept earlier." She rebuked, standing up.
'Looked who learned how to speak well, this village was a bad influence to you. Now you can talk back.' Wang Wei thought, sighing. It will be harder to control her if he doesn't step up his game. [A month is almost over, so we will soon be heading to Nuoding Academy]
"I forgot about that." Bai Feng mumbled, wishing they could stay here longer. She was starting to like it here and already have some friends, but she knew staying here will be wasting her future, just as Wang Wei said. "When are we leaving?"
Shrugging, Wang Wei decided to ask Jack about the opening of the academy during breakfast. Walking to the dining room, he saw Jack making up the table. Sitting across from Jack, Wang Wei brought out his Samsara Pen and wrote,
[Why are you so happy?]
Reading what he wrote, Jack's smile grew. "Well, today, I received a letter from Tang Hao, saying I can take Tang San to the academy. Finally, someone from our village is going to produce a Spirit master."
'Oh, today's the day. Finally, I can get out of this garbage village and enter a city. The next arc of my journey.' Wang Wei thought, smiling. Tapping the table to get Jack's attention, he wrote, [Can my sister and I come with you?]
"You want to come to visit the big city?" Jack asked, misunderstanding his intention. "Of course you can!"
"We can do what?" Bai Feng asked, overhearing what Jack said. She sat beside Wang Wei and picked up a spoon, looking over to Jack, waiting for an answer.
"Your brother asked if you both can follow Tang San and me to the city." Jack said, looking over to Wang Wei's almost finished plate of rice. "Do you need more?"
Shaking his head, Wang Wei looked at Bai Fang through the corner of his eyes, noticing a gloomy look on her face. 'Friendship is going to drag her down, increasing the chance of her leaving my side. I should do something to stop her from gaining any close friends. Acquaintances will do, but no friendship. Finding another talented attack-type spirit master I can control will be harder if she leaves. I can't let that happen till I find someone better...'
