[6] Hunting : First Kill

Act 1 | Prologue | Hunting : First Kill

-----

Zack winched lightly before a look of calm rage mixed with apathetic disgust wrapped his cute visage. As practical lessons for Legilimency, Esther had cashed in some favours to allow Zack into a prizon where dark wizards were sentenced and she essentially had Zack 'mind-fuck', a pale, skinny bald man with malicious eyes.

Now aside from sharpening his Legilimency this also allowed Esther to have Zack familiarised with the twisted reality from the perspective of a one who is as much as twisted. While Zack was already aware that the world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows he still didn't expect such 'fuckery'.

'Scums like him don't deserve to live.' Zack growled mentally and entertained the idea of killing him but decided against him, he didn't want his first kill to be such a wimp. So, he did the next best thing. He overloaded his brain to short-circuit and breakdown.

Zack sighed as he shook himself before glaring at the now brain-dead man infront of him with such resentence that it could have lit the poor ass into flames. Zack sighed once again before turning to his next 'guinea pig', a short, balding pudgy man in his late 40s who was writhing around cuffed to his chair and his mouth taped up.

The horror in his eyes grew as tears begin to leak as Zack raised his hand with a menacing smirk.

"I promise I won't be gentle. Not at all." Zack grinned as he hand glowed. "Legilimens!"

--[LineBreak]--

Zack rubbed his palms as he stood in the shadows of the dirty alley in London. London while fascinating was an equally gloomy place as well due to it's weather. The wind was humid and it was clear that it was going to rain heavy once again.

Zack was long way from home but he had his reasons too, Max had with the shared agreement of his teachers decided to take him on a mission to get field-experience, to assess his acutal lethal combat potential and for him to have his first kill.

It has been a week since he left home and four days in London tailing the group of dark wizards. Zack cast a warming charm followed by an improvised version of notice-me-not charm and an invisibility spell. He held his breath as he saw the group of wizards step out of a shady building along.

Eight adult men, age waring from the youngest being twenty-one and the oldest being forty-seven. Zack put his hand into the pocket and pulled out a gold coin (Galleon) and was going to use one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Zack followed them for a while, keeping ears sharp for any important information but they were only talking about which whorehouse they should visit as the 'guy' paid them in full.

'Interesting.' Zack thought sarcastically as the began talking about what and what not they were going to do. 'Pathetic.'

Zack only needed one person from them sound enough to retrieve information so the rest were free to get slaughtered.

Talking a breath he tossed the galleon into the alley adjacent to the one the were currently on. The coin hit against the metal pipe and the sound reverberated through the empty and silent alley.

The group of wizards were startled quickly retrieving their wands before the leader which was surprisingly the youngest one asked one a guy name Marty to check it out.

The poor fool was eager as he nearly stumbled into the area were he had tossed it. Zack was crouching nearby behind a dumpster and as he peeked out he saw that the mans face was flushed and even though he was a few feet away the smell of alcohol was apparent.

'They are drunk? Excellent!' Zack cheered in his heart as the poor sob picked up the coin and looked at with alcohol-induced confusion.

"Bossey~ It's a gold coin 'ere." Marty slurred out.

"Oh, isn't that just a Galleon then. It's not a deal then. Com-" The boss said dismissively and was a bit late. His eyes widened in realization. "Wait a min-"

But it was too late.

*Burst* *Thud*

Marty's head exploded into a display of gore, as blood rushed out like a fountain before his body hit the ground.

The remaining seven were frozen in shock and naturally Zack was going to make the most out of this situation. He firstly incapacitated the leader with a petrifying charm and quick transfigured the metal pipe into four arrow-lances and skewered one with each.

The remaining two only managed to snap out after blood of their comrades splashed against their face. Shaking in fear they frantically looked around and begin swearing in a poor attempt to call him out. One of the guy Finally noticed the KID who was right INFRONT of them and called out his partner but it was of no use as a mist filled the alley and their line of sight was blocked.

When the mist cleared the two were on the floor bisected from between the courtesy of the mighty severing charm with a look of shock itched onto their faces barely realising their own demise and not knowing the cause of it.

Zack walked to the only man alive, who was the now terrified leader. As Zack stepped into the line of his sight he was pleased at the look of shock and fear in his eyes as he realised that the one who did this was only a juvenile child.

"I'd love to have a chat with you about things to appreciate women about and thousand ways to kill a cat but I don't have the time. I need some information you have and as I know wouldn't hand it over to me willingly so please forgive my rudeness as I snatch it from your twisted conscience." Zack smile. "Don't worry. I'll make sure to make it as painful as I can."

"Legilimency."

Few minutes later, Zack's conscience returned as he stomped in the now brain-dead man's face with enough force to make it cave in. With a look of disgust he shot a severing charm aimed at his neck.

Zack sighed as the rush from the adrenaline died down and now he felt the full burnt of his rising, bubbling emotions. Taking a deep breath Zack smiled.

"It's alright Zack, It's alri-*blegh*" He couldn't finish as he began emptying the content of his stomach.

A few moments of vomiting on the remains of his dead foes Zack with a levitating charm piled up the bodies and poured gasoline all over the pile. Retrieving a small black wooden box from his pocket he spun the dial on it and placed it near the gasoline doused pile of bodies.

Casting a purgo he erased every trace of magic making sure he left no clue behind and then walking out of the alley.

Removing the hood he cast a cleaning charm on him to get rid of the blood, dirt, sweat and any unpleasant odar before casting a cloth modifying charm on his clothes to look like a normal muggle child.

Walking into a cafe he dropped his notice-me-not charm and sat on a chair right across Max who was grinning at him.

"So, how was the mission? I assume everything went well." Max wiggled his eyebrows.

"Don't act as if you don't already know it." Zack retorted without actual bite as he thanked the waitress for the cup of hot chocolate before he took a long sip from it and sighed in bliss as it relaxed his nerves. "It was pleasant-"

*Boom!*

"-Very, very pleasant." Zack's grin was nothing short of scary which was matched by Max.

Flames and smoke reached towards the sky as the rain descended painting a very odd yet beautiful scene.

--[Line Break]--

Zack smiled as finished writing a detailed report about his mission.

The leader Marvin Vlane was a dark wizard who was an expert in the use of the Imperius Curse and used to to do dark deeds like blackmailing and stuff. Approached by a wealthy noble and seduced by the dreams of grandeur he assembled a group of like minded idiots and began pillaging and became a mercenary to do the noble's dirty deeds.

The noble was going to gobble into human trafficking too so Zack decided that it was best to eliminate the cause of conflict from the root and thus the bomb.

A nifty device that he made using the highly volatile and flameable powdered leave of Black Asrum which he had set into a pod with compressed greygorge acid and good ol' gun powder and the only thing separating them was a runic divider which he managed with a dial.

Making two copies of the report Zack head down, grabbing an apple and then to the backyard.

One copy was for his aunt for formality and the other was for Max so that he could take the credit for it as Zack could find no need for that. Reaching the ground Zack begin his daily independent training.

He started with circulating raw magic around him which became so saturated that it actually took the form of blue wisps of energy and begin swirling around him.

Opening his eyes, the golden orbs glowed with raw power. Zack raised his hand as multiple lances made up of pure magic began forming above him but with a wave of have they all vanished.

Zack raised his hand and a fire ball sparked into existence. The heat of the fireball increased as Zack was constantly making changes to the spell structure but in the end as he tried to shoot it forward it burnt out of existence.

Seeing this Zack sighed at his failure to come up with a way for the displacement of the fireball but without a focus and anchor it was hard. Normally it was easy considering a wand naturally acts as an anchor for the spell and focusing is it's primary function.

"It's no use like this maybe instead of trying to create a from scratch spell without anchor or focal point maybe I should research and see if there is any substitute for it.

--[TimeSkip]--

Zack had been busy these two months. With his studies basically over he was doing more practical lessons. Like going on more hunts, skewering any poor dark wizard that had the misfortune to become his victim, learning advance aspects of of Alchemy and blacksmithing from Camilia.

Lalisa's lesson's were over so she had to return to her country but she does come to visit him always bring new books on charm and Arithmancy. Studying muggle mathematics was a good idea since it has helped him a lot in creating the structure of multiple original spells from scratch while talking already existing spells as a reference.

Esther and Eve now take him and toss him into sanctuary of wild beast were under the teachings of the sanctuary guardian, he learns and polishes his beast empathy.

Although he was making progress by leaps and bounds, his major projects have been nothing but failure so far and while with each failure he learns something new he simply didn't have the time to figure it out through trail-and-error.

He knew he was doing something wrong but he had no idea where and what. But it was no use pondering too much over it so he tried to invest his time in perfecting his already astounding skills.

And just like that it was his sixth birthday, after a small party surrounded my family and his teachers Zack got a chance to unwind before going to sleep and as he did he found himself in the very familiar place of his mindscape except he wasn't alone this time.

"Ufufu~ Did you miss me, little husband?" Hecate who was looking as gorgeous as ever asked with a playful smile and light blush on her face.

"Hecate!" Zack grinned in joy at the sight of the beautiful before running and jumping into her arms. "Uwaha! I'm sooooo glad to see you!"

"Ahaha! I seems my little Zacky missed me as much as I did." Hecate said as shw rubbed her face against Zacks who blushed but smiled.

"Umm. Of course I did!" Zack replied with a bright grin which made Hecate kiss his cheeks.

"Ufufu. So it would seem. Let's sit as Hecatr sat down on the 'solid-water' floor and pulled Zack into her lap.

The two began discussing how and what they were doing, more like Zack telling him about his development and his adventures since Hecate who lived in the observatory of the multiverse was just bored to the bone.

Then Zack began to voice his concern about Eve and the bottleneck he hit in developing his own magic and also his frustration being at his inability to overcome them.

"Hmm, is that the only issue?" Hecate asked mischievously getting a bewildered look from Zack. "The problem is quite clear and the answer is also quite simple. The problem is that your view on magic is just not broad enough and your current knowledge too isn't sufficient. There are many branches of magic which specialises in a certain area and are exclusive to a particular region maybe if you learn about them then..."

Zack's eyes widened as he experienced an epiphany. He was a fool. The answer had been infront of him the whole time. He now knew what he had to do.

"Thank you sooo much Hecate!" Zack beamed kissing her cheek surprising her but Hecate smile kindly with a light blush. "You are the best!"

"Ufufufu~ Of course I am~"
