Auction site

Shen Li was dumbfounded. He didn't know whether he should be happy that his Sister Jiang cared about him or should he by crying and feeling sad because she was despising his thin, weak body. He pouted his lips pitifully and ran behind her. "Sister Jiang, slow down....."

Amelie stopped and took one glance behind her. On seeing him small trotting figure that was trying to catch up to her, her face lit up with a smile. With a small chuckle, she teased, "C'mon, hurry up, short legs....."

When those teasing words entered Shen Li's ear, he almost fall flat on the ground. Luckily, he stabilized himself and glared at Amelia. "Sister Jiang, you are so bad! I am not a shorty," he emphasized with his cheeks puffed up like an angry squirrel, and his hands kept on his waist. His actions looked so cute that Amelia couldn't help but pull at his cheeks.

Instantly, Shen Li's face flushed with shame and anger. "Sister Jiang, don't pull at my cheeks."

"Why?"

"B-be... Because men and women need to keep their distance from each other."

Hearing that, Amelia laughed. Keeping a distance, eh? Coming from the modern age, it sounded quite weird to her. She wondered how these ancient people would react if they ever saw how the modern world acted. But then again, she was reminded that this world was a fake created from that stupid witch's power and magic.

With a sigh, she turned around her left her house with Shen Li.

At noon, the Phoenix City.

The roads were crowded with people and carriages while the city looked bustling with prosperity. Everything seemed prosperous and souring. Amelia leisurely walked on the cobbled stone pavement along with Shen Li, listening to the street vendors bartering, watching different carriages passing by, and people in ancient clothes walking by. Her eyes strayed to the different street stalls selling amazing tasty food. She licked her lips as she looked at one such stall where there was a crowd of people.

She couldn't help but feel amused by how real everything seemed. It was exactly how an ancient world was, with everything set perfectly. Nothing seemed wrong or out of order. This made her realize the strength of that witch's power. If he could create a perfect fake ancient world like this, then he was not an ordinary witch.

Who was he?

And, what was his purpose in sending her here?

What would he get from sending her here?

Amelia narrowed her eyes as she began to recall that night when she met that witch. Though she couldn't understand the meaning behind his words, something told her that it was related to her. It was a mystery and she wanted to solve it. However, that was something she needed to do in the future. For now, she needed to know everything about this fake world and learn how to mingle and survive.

"Sister Jiang, what are you thinking? Why did you stop?" Shen Li questioned with a puzzling look.

"Nothing," Amelia shook her head. "Let's go..."

Shen Li nodded. He looked around and noticed the weird looks of the people around him. Since they left the house, he was noticing that people were looking at them and saying something about them. Though he couldn't hear what they were saying but it was definitely something about Sister Jiang. He was sure of it.

"Sister Jiang, they seem to whisper something about us...." he whispered in a low voice.

"I know," Amelia nodded. "Don't mind them. They are talking about yesterday's incident in front of the Shen Mansion."

"Oh!"

"I wonder how that scumbag fiance and my dear darling sister might be taking this news?" Amelia chuckled.

"They might be quite angry after all their reputation is smeared and now, people know about their dirty deeds." Shen Li answered.

"Of course, they are angry." Amelia laughed. "Anyways, let's not waste our time on them and affect our mood."

Shen Li nodded. "Hmm."

As both of them were walking down the street, they suddenly came across a place where there was a large crowd. The place looked quite chic and Amelia's eyes were immediately attracted to all the carriages that were stopping one by one. She glanced at all the people who were walking inside the place and couldn't help but say, "Little Li, let's go inside."

Shen Li glanced at the place and frowned. "Sister Jiang, that place is an auction site. Why are we going there?"

Amelia shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe, we will find something interesting there..."

"Okay." Shen Li nodded.

Soon, Amelia and Shen Li walked toward the lavish place. This auction sight was one of the places where the rich people came to spend their money while the common people would come to try their luck. The auction would be held two times a day where one auction would be held for the rich people while the other auction would be held for the common people.

So, in the morning, an auction was held for the high-class people. All the guests here were people of high status and high position and some of them were even royals. Everyone came here on their lavish and grand carriages. Hence, when the guard saw that Amelia and Shen Li were walking barefoot, he took them as commoners and decided to drive them away.

"Hey, Miss!!! You cannot go inside now...." the guards said and stopped in front of them.

"Why?" Amelia frowned.

"The auction for common people begins in the evening. You go now!!!"

Before Amelia could say anything, Shen Li stepped in between. "Uncle guard, this is Miss Jiang, General Jiang's daughter." he pointed out.

The guard frowned. He looked up and down at Amelia carefully as if he was testing their words. Most often, many people would try to fake their identities just to get inside and meet royals. Hence, he was extra vigilant when sending people inside. "Can you show me your invitation card?" he asked.

Shen Li's mouth flew open. Oh no!!! How could he forget? Getting inside this auction sight needed an invitation card or passes otherwise, no matter what your status is, you would be denied entry. Even the royals had to show their invitation card before going inside this place. His face paled and he pulled on Amelia's sleeves. "Sister Jiang....."

"I know," Amelia smiled and stopped him. "Don't worry."
