Chapter 1

DAY 1 OF CAPTIVITY

The walls around me were caving in, the place I once called home was crumbling right before my eyes. Moving my body proved to be a difficulty, screams echoed in my head but I couldn't pinpoint the exact location it came from. Before I knew it, the smell of chloroform overtook my senses as I succumbed to the darkness.

There were voices, it was almost indiscernible but it was still there. I couldn't feel my hands and legs as the ropes that bounded them dug into my skin. My head felt heavy, dizzness washed over me as I drifted in and out of darkness.

Water, as cold as ice made my skin fell like little needles were stabbing me. Light invaded my vision when I tried opening my eyes, two figures stood before me, one In a black suit and the other one In a grey suit. They both stared at me like I was an item to be bought, few minutes later a woman walked into the room holding some documents.

"Mr Alexandro and Mr Carlos, it's been a while. I hope the last one hasn't been giving you too much trouble?". The men didn't seem to see a reason to respond hence they didn't. The air in the room was a little awkward as the woman cleared her throat. "Here are the documents needed for her trade, you can transfer the money if you are ready". It was at that moment I keen on what was going on, this people were going to sell me.

Even though I knew it was going to be useless, I frantically searched for any possible exit to escape. I felt a cold air on my skin, there was a window behind me that I could escape through. The men had already signed the documents, a man came to untie the ropes and it dawned on me that this was my last chance at escaping. Without sparing any second, I was yanked off the chair before I could even run, I was led into another car where my head was covered with a black bag and was opened after a while.

Once the bag was removed, the sudden attack of light to my eye made me light headed my eyes adjusted. It was then that I saw the number of people around me, they were all dressed in black with guns hanging from their shoulders. The realization that one single mistake could get me killed in seconds scared me, but they would not kill off their newly bought asset would they?.

I tried not to think about the my parents and if they had survived, I could still hear the ear piercing screams and hoped it was just that, screams. Looking out the tinted glass of the car windows, I could feel the sun glaring at me. There were no houses around as we entered into a dark part of the forest that smelt like charred wood. The car came to a stop, without any second to spare I opened the door of the car and took to the hills.

My knees were shaking as I kept stumbling on broken branches but I never gave up. I could hear the footsteps of those men as it shook the earth beneath me, I made sure never to say on a path too long but I was getting tired. The adrenaline rush I had before seemed to have left me halfway through making me fall to the ground.

With time I couldn't hear the footsteps anymore but I didn't lie to myself that I was free, it was confirmed when I heard the breaking of a tree branch. I didn't bother trying to see who or what it was, the hairs at the back of my neck stood before something struck the back of my head making me unconscious.

My head was pounding, the coldness of the floor made my bones ache. There were two men in the room but they weren't the same men from before, the door opened with a bang as some people walked in. There was a man who stood beside them, he looked familiar. Of course he did, it was my uncle, Christopher.

Uncle Chris was not someone I understood well and him being here did not sit well with me. There was no way he came here to save me, with not even a single wrinkle on his suit. Then another guy came in with a suitcase and handed it over to my uncle and said "It was nice doing business with you Mr Christopher". I can't say that I didn't expect that but it still hurts to know that my family member just sold me off like a piece of clothing for money. Before he was escorted out, he said "be a good girl" while patting my head.

The man that bought me from my uncle introduced himself as Ambrose my new owner. I knew it was all over, nothing could be done now, I had lost my final chance of escaping and could only accept my fate. I taken to a room where I was to take a shower and sleep but sleep evaded me, the night was long as thoughts about my future filled my head.
