Telling Anja

The moon shone down on the ship as Ilona stood alone facing her Quarter Master.  The ghostly light seemed to somehow highlight the fact that Mason was gone.  He'd left her there and he wouldn't be coming back.  She had only just gotten him and now she'd lost him already.

"How could you?" Ilona hissed, glaring at Pierce Vane through her tear-filled eyes, "I told you not to tell him!  I was going to tell him!"

The greasy little man stared at her, trying to hide the amusement from his beetle-like eyes.  His cup of rum now sat abandoned on a barrel beside him, leaving his hands free to rest on the hilt of his wide sword.  Ilona wished she'd worn her own blades but knew if she had, she likely would have drawn them on the man by now.

"Forgive me, Captain, but I assumed you already had.  Why hide things from someone you're so... familiar with?"
