Steep Mountain

      Nick wasn't far away, so it didn't take Mason long to get to him.  He paused when he did, glancing back down onto the land below.

      "Nick," he said, nudging the man, "Do you see anything down there?"

      The younger man turned, looking in the direction his friend was.

      "Mmm... I see Jennings."

      "I mean other than him."

      Nick took a step closer to the edge and squinted through the darkness.  "What am I looking for exactly?"

      "I don't know," Mason sighed, feeling foolish now, "Just… Just anything that shouldn't be there I guess."

      Nick scanned the space for a moment longer before shrugging.  "I don't know Mace.  The only thing I see that shouldn't be here is Jennings,"

    His last words were meant as a joke to make his friend relax, but Mason's expression remained grave.
