Chapter 11

Babysitting George is more difficult than taking care of Miracle. I must have mentally underestimated it since Miracle is a quiet and good baby most of the time.

Seb glances at me with a small smile as I play with George whilst his parents are out. He is a year old and can speak a little but most of it is baby gibberish. I talk in a funny voice to make him laugh as he plays with the teddies and toys which I bought for Miracle. Who knew they would come in use like this?

Feeling his stare behind me, I glance around, "What is it?"

He shrugs and quickly changes to a poker face, "Nothing."

I narrow my eyes at him, "You're acting weird."

"No I'm not." He protests.

"Nevermind. Watch George for me whilst I make his milk." I look at the clock, "It's almost time."

Seb nods, "No problem."

I head to the kitchen and make some milk for him. Rose mentioned that he does sometimes have bottled milk when she can't breastfeed him.

"Hey, I'm worried about Miracle. But I can't bring him back in case your brother and sis-in-law see." I confess aloud.

"Don't worry Eva. They'll be gone soon. You'll be able to bring him home tonight."

I smile at his words. Seb obviously found Miracle a disturbance to his daily life but lately, it seems like he has softened up to him a little. Seb can be cold and mean sometimes but he is actually soft hearted inside.

"Porcupine." I laugh as I bring the milk bottle into the living room.

"Me?" He asks with raised eyebrows.

"Who else?" I pinch his cheek, "The big porcupine who always acts mean but is actually gentle." I smile.

His ears tint red as he stares at me with his light brown eyes, "So you're saying I'm a gentleman now?" He grins, "Do I match your standards now?"

I scowl and remove my hand from his cheek, "Stop flirting with me, you Casanova. There's no way you would meet my standards."

"You didn't say that when you agreed with Jason about me being your fake boyfriend."

My face warms up and I hurriedly busy myself with feeding George. "What a good boy you are George." I say, holding him on my lap. "Drink up darling."

"Are you trying to avoid me?" Seb asks, leaning closer to me.

I hold up my hand and move his face away from me. "No. I'm busy with your nephew."

"Why did you agree?" He pesters me.

Annoyed, I glare at him, "I agreed because Jason suggested it! I would have felt better if Jason wanted to date me."

Seb's eyes widen before they turn dark. "Jason this, Jason that. Can't you talk about anything else besides him?!"

My mouth hangs open in astonishment and confusion as I watch him walk away in anger and slam his bedroom door. Why is he angry? Did I say something wrong? I simply told him about Jason? Isn't Jason his friend?

I shake my head, "Don't be a confusing man like your uncle when you grow up George." I say to the child. He giggles and I pat his back lightly before putting him onto the floor.

"Mama." He mumbles, holding his arms out towards me.

"Wait, I'm not your mother." I mutter as he crawls back towards me. I am flattered that he is talking to me but why is he calling me "Mama?"

"Mama." He smiles cutely and holds my thigh as he slowly stands up, balancing by holding onto me.

My eyes widen in shock. Didn't Rose and Sam say he couldn't walk yet? How is he standing and walking whilst holding onto me?

I gently hold his hand as he giggles and takes a few steps. "Wow, well done George! You know how to walk now." I say excitedly.

Will Miracle learn to walk like this too? He is younger than George but if I can raise him properly, I will be happy.

"We're back!" Sam's cheerful voice calls as he enters with Rose.

They stop as they walk into the room with many bags. Both of them have the same expression as they watch George take more steps whilst holding my hand.

"Surprise!" I grin, "He suddenly stood up and started walking."

"Wow. I have to get this on video." Sam says happily, taking out his mobile phone.

"I can't believe he is finally walking." Rose exclaims with tears in her eyes. "This is incredible."

"I guess he wanted to show me that he can do it." I joke. "He even called me Mama. Do we look similar in any way Rose?"

Rose laughs, "He usually cries alot when he is alone with a stranger. You must be special if he called you that. My son is already betraying his mother at this young age." She tuts in jest.

I laugh, "Don't worry, I won't steal him."

"That's it!" She claps her hands in excitement. "You can be his godmother Eva!"

"Um, it's okay Rose. You don't have to do anything like that." I say shyly.

"I will definitely make you his godmother and Sebastian can be his godfather." She frowns and glances around, "Where is he anyway? He was the main one who was supposed to look after George."

I shrug and gesture to his room, "He went in a while ago. I'm not sure if he is sleeping already."

Sam raises his eyebrows, "Did something happen? Did you two fight?"

"I'm not sure." I say quietly. It isn't like we argued.

"I'll speak with him. We will be leaving soon." Sam says, heading for Seb's room.

"What about dinner?" I ask.

"We ate earlier. Thank you Eva." Rose smiles.

Sam comes out of the room a few minutes later and shakes his head, "He won't tell me what is wrong. Anyway, I'll leave him in your hands Eva. You know how my brother is but he is a good man."

"Don't worry Sam, I've dealt with him for all these years. I know what to do." I say confidently.

"Thanks." He ruffles my head before the three of them leave.

I sigh and lie down on the sofa. I can finally bring Miracle back home. It's seven. I call Rina and she picks up immediately.

"I'm coming to pick up Miracle." I say.

"He has just fallen asleep. I think he was missing you Eva, he cried a whole lot before he fell asleep."

"My poor baby. I'm coming now." I say impatiently. I missed him too. I hang up and pull on a jacket. Should I let Seb know? I knock on his bedroom door but he doesn't answer. "I'm going to pick up Miracle." I say loudly before leaving.
