Tep!
William landed on the balcony safely. He was glad that the location of this suite was also with a balcony at the north. This way, he would be able to pay a visit to the mall beside the hotel occasionally when there was time.
The speaker outside was still relaying the news from the government and the Xermo was attracted outside. The banging sound from outside had ceased considerably since most of the Xermo was no longer there.
'I should rest.'
Picking an empty room, William pulled his bag that he had filled with food. His other hand was holding the two metal bats that he retrieved just now. it would be a good weapon in case his bullet run out.
While it would be better if he could have knife or something like that, William hadn't had the time to pick those. The stores that sold them were located at the bottom floor of the mall. He would have to sweep a considerable number of Xermo if he wished to reach there.
He could do it after regrouping with Yakov later.
Taking a short bath, William cleaned himself. However, he still rest while keeping his gun, metal bat, and also bag near him. In case something happened, he would be able to react in time and proceeded with what he was supposed to do.
'What should I do next?'
Surviving certainly took the uppermost priority in his list. However, simply surviving would be hard with their current condition. William wanted to make sure that he would be able to survive and get out of this city.
But with the army supervising, would it be possible?
In addition, he was sure that they would be doing rigorous checking to make sure that no one with questionable condition would be allowed out. They wouldn't want Virus R to roam around and possibly turn someone into Xermo again.
'The distance is a bit far.'
The blockade covered several hundreds of kilometers. William didn't have the confidence that he would be able to get out safely without ample preparation.
Food, weapon, medicine, and transportation.
Those were all that he could possibly think. However, he knew that living inside a car every single day would be very torturous. As military personnel, he had no problem with that, but there might be also some civilians that he would bring with him. Asking them to sit inside a car and lived like that for weeks would be pure torture.
Well, they could adapt.
But it would be better for him to have a large car. Would military car do? There should be some that he could borrow since there was a training camp not far from this area.
Hmm, that didn't sound to be a bad idea.
After thinking for a while, William fell asleep. He was a light sleeper and still maintained his vigilance even as he was resting. When it was dawn, he noticed that there was a change and opened his eyes. Turning his head to the side, his eyes narrowed when he realized that the electricity was cut off.
'It's time, huh?'
William sat down and walked to the window. Xermo was still roaming around, trying to find food and then acted as they wished. It was hard for him to look outside because he knew that these Xermo was actually still living people, but they no longer had the rationality that they previously possessed.
They had turned into crazy infected people who would attack those near them.
'The sun is rising. It's almost time.'
"Sharp."
"Hmm?"
"Have you prepared a vehicle?"
"I have borrowed a military vehicle. There's one that's parking not far from the hotel when the incident happened, so I brought it into the garage and packed some things inside. In fact, I'm currently sleeping on the car."
"Good."
"Heh, when it comes to supplying gun, you can rely on me," Yakov said proudly. He glanced to the side as he noticed that a Xermo had managed to come inside. His right hand was raised and he pulled the trigger.
BANG!
"It's not really a good night rest, hut?"
"Brother, you know how we usually train. This is nothing much." Yakov snorted. He had already gotten used to train in harsh environment and forced to stay in the same position for days. Just sleeping outside like this wouldn't be a problem at all.
"Sharp, I'm planning to bring other survivors out."
Thud!
"What in the world are you saying, Lucky? If you bring those burdens out, you know that you might not be able to survive, right?"
"I'm not saying that I want to bring all of them out," William replied coldly. He felt that there were some people who shouldn't have died in this place. Because of that, he planned to bring some of them out with him if it was possible.
"That girl?"
"She's included."
"WHY? She'll be nothing more than a burden that will…."
"She's not that bad," William replied. Even though he had only met with her for a short period of time, he had seen her ability in decision making. There were some things that he missed, yet she was able to think.
Besides, leaving a girl alone in this place might be the same as leaving her to die.
"Brother, please don't tell me that you have fallen…"
"She's useful."
With that sentence, Yakov didn't dare to say anything else lest his friend decided to make things even more difficult for him. He sighed. "And there might be others?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"It's impossible for us to live by ourselves. Also, having some people whom we could trust inside the group would be better," William replied. He knew that if they wanted to settled somewhere, they would need more people to work for this and that. Just having two people were clearly far from enough.
Yakov sighed. "Fine, whatever, I'll follow what you want, Bro."
William nodded. "Let's talk about that later after you have come here. I'll clean up the stairs after breakfast."
"Got it."
It didn't take long for William to have simple breakfast consisting of several breads and drank water. He walked out of the room and noticed that Gloria had walked out. She was still wearing the same clothes as yesterday, but her expression looked clearer.
Gloria raised her head and looked at William. "Do you want to leave?"
"I'm only going to pick up a friend. There's no longer any electricity, so make sure that you're careful."
Previously, there was the lock system in the hotel that worked with electricity. Now that the electricity was lost, they were only left with the basic physical key. They have to be careful if they wanted to stay alive.
Gloria nodded. "I'll wait here."
"Good girl."
William pushed the items a bit and unlocked the door. He was still bringing his gun and metal bat while his bag containing the supplies was left inside his room. Pointing to the door, he glanced to the back.
"Remember to lock the door."
"En."
While William walked in the corridor, he noticed that the condition of the door towards the stairways was still good. It seemed that the door was sturdy enough to hold on in this condition. He swept his gaze to the other people from the other room that has been quiet for the past day.
They were watching behind their door.
'They're cautious enough.'
Not paying any heed, William walked to the end of the corridor and opened the door before he closed it again. Soon afterwards, the sound of fighting reverberated in the stairways.
There were three other rooms with people at the top floor. They were all rich people who had more than enough money and authority previously to be able to book the suite room in this floor.
"Master, the soldier had left."
"And the girl?"
"She's still inside the room."
At this time, the man raised his head. His lips curled up to form a sneer. "That's to say, he's leaving her to be alone in this place? How naïve."
The guard was stunned when he saw his master walked to the door. "Master!"
"Follow me and do as I say."
Even though the guard knew that his master was often up to no good, he couldn't say anything to refute and silently followed his master.
