Another Dream

***

"Great Divine Dragon, why do you keep summoning me? Every night, you speak to me, however half of the time I don't understand you." The beast with golden eyes, and blood-red scales, had a thick beard that draped down to the floor, as he sat on his hind legs.

"Child, there will be a sudden change of your life, that will bring you to me." Suddenly sitting up in bed, I grew dizzy at the sudden motion, taking in deep breaths. Dripping with cold sweat, I tried to remember as much as the dream, and what the Elder dragon was implying. Taking the time to piece together the facts, that I had.

Two years have blurred by, and I've been age 10 for a month. For the whole year, last year, I spent my time begging my mother to allow me to attend public school. This would lead to allowing me to train with the sword after school, and then participating in little leagues. A first step was needed.

However, knowing my mother, she agreed, but I had to participate in every etiquette class they have available. A way that counterattacks my image as a crazy child, who is far from a lady, since she fights with a sword. I smiled at her, nodding my head, planning at the end of the semester I would drop the class immediately.

Standing on the front steps of Royal Private Middle school, I watched the kids from second grade to sixth grade walk into the large building. It wasn't a bad choice, in the end, I could understand why she sent me to such a prestigious school.

The classes that Mother signed me up for, were easy, I just needed to focus on English, etiquette classes, and swordplay. English usually had rude teachers, who like to have a detailed explanation for such a simple idea.

"Miss, Rebecca Willow, fifth grade? Your classes are down the hallway." I nodded, then followed the principal, to my homeroom class. My classes were in a block schedule, however, it was only the teachers that transitioned. Ms. Jennifer was the teacher's name, and she was pretty bubbly, and I couldn't help but feel annoyed.

Classes blurred together, as they spoke about the supplies that they needed, when the lunch bell rang, I instantly stood up, following the children to the spacious lunchroom. Barstools and long tables decorated the room, simple plants were spotted around the room to add color, and lastly the portraits of the past rulers, that funded this school. Including the current King.

"It's the famous girl. The one who earned the Citizenship award, the one that the King smiled proudly at." I heard many kids murmur in amazement, as I picked my tray, choosing a seat in the corner. Once I took a seat on the stood, I looked out the window, watching the younger grades play in the schoolyard.

'ring, ring!' I pulled out my phone and answered the caller. "Hello?" I asked, hoping that he wouldn't call me by title. He chuckled and I narrowed my eyes, wary of how he was acting.

"I never thought that your mother would allow you to come to this school." He finally answered, and I turned my head raising my brows as I saw him. Of course, the Prince would attend this school, but with heavy security.

"Did you join the after-school lessons as well?" I muttered into the phone, and he nodded while stepping forward to my table. As he walked closer to my table, all the girls that looked dreamily at the boy, turned their focus on me, with harsh glares.

"Of course I would find a way to get more time with my best friend." Putting a bite of potatoes in my mouth, so I wouldn't comment, turning away from his sparkling appearance.

"Did the King allow you?" He took the empty seat and looked out the window.

"He did more than allow me, he silenced the council. He thought this would be a perfect opportunity for me to understand more about my people." I nodded, finally turning back from the window.

I watched the handsome Prince in the sunlight. He sparkled brightly, even in dark places, I couldn't help but be envious, yet glad. That meant he got all of the attention, that I didn't want.

"The council didn't protest?" I asked and he paused, pulling himself out of his cloud of thoughts.

"Surprisingly they didn't. They just nodded their heads, and when they left, they had their tails tucked." I didn't comment, there was something that didn't make sense. 'The council would love to tell off the Prince at any chance, even question the King, why would they back off now?'

The break bell rang, stating that lunch was over, and we had fifteen minutes to walk around, taking advantage of the time, I would go find the instructor, for afterschool training.

"I will see you later, Elias." Moving away from the table, I walked out to the back schoolyard. Wandering through the different buildings, finding the building that I would arrive at, for after-school practice, where the famous lieutenant was.

"What are you doing here?" A burly man stood, watching me from the corner, as he was cleaning some blades. I nodded in his direction, stepping inside, looking around the room.

"I'm here to explore. I've lived an isolated life, and didn't enter this school to sit in a classroom reviewing unwanted information." Looking at the trophies and certificates of teaching, the man, sitting on the floor was Edward Jones, or lieutenant Jones.

"I don't teach young girls." He deadpanned, as I turned around giving him a smirk.

"I knew you would say that, do you know who I am?" Pulling out a letter from Father, to hand to this man. It was the King's seal that told him to allow me to learn.

"You're too young." I held out the letter, and he took it.

"My name is Rebecca Willow, daughter of Duke Willow." He pealed the seal off, and his eyes widen. He looked between the letter and the small child.

[The child Rebecca Willow, has the King's permission to train, for such a talented swordswoman should not be held back. I want you to assess her yourself, then contact Duke Ryan Willow] The letter ended with the King's seal of a fire-breathing dragon.

"I suppose since the King has commanded that I assess you, let's see what you have." I smiled to myself, I may be defeated for the first time in a while, and I will accept it gladly, as it shows room for improvement. Picking up a wooden sword, I tossed one to him.

For the rest of school, lieutenant Jones and I went through many stances as review. When he seemed satisfied he declared a match. Taking our respected places on each side of the ring, I heard the footsteps of many males come to the building.

"Focus on the match, ignore outside forces." Leveling my sword, the room became silent. The boys watched the young girl with confusion, yet awe. Elias smiled lightly as he watched his best friend look closely at her opponent, searching for weaknesses.

"Start!" The burning sensation pulsed through my veins, as I strained against the wooden blade held by the wielder, dropping and rolling to the ground, I sliced his leg, if it was a real blade. The swords swished in the air, whistling while playing their song of battle. If I didn't have much time with my blade, I would have been worn out after ten minutes.

Staring into the lieutenant's eyes, his brown eyes swirled as the light began to shine, brown to bluish-green. He smiled as he loosened his defense on his vital places, it was a trick. Jumping over him doing a backflip, I landed on my feet in a stronger stance. At a certain time, I could lunge and my tip would stab the neck.

Lieutenant Jones turned around, caught off guard. He watched how the young girl moved fluidly. Through his burst of energy, her arms didn't shake, as she was barely using her energy. What more could she be holding? Their blades clashed again, and this time the fire in Rebecca's eyes glowed.

Lunging up she had her blade tip in his skin, prepared when his blade was crashing down. Moving her arms away, the lieutenant dropped his blade and nodded to the young girl.

"You won. Your reflexes are amazing, and you move fast on your feet. I will teach you." I smiled, this is all I wanted. I wanted to finally move forward in my training, and now I was able, due to this man.
